Patric chuckled, then laughed aloud. Suddenly there was a noise like a cannon blast, and the wood nearby splintered into a hundred little splinters, all flying through the air. "Surrender for the Royal Navy!" came a commanding voice.

Ella ran up on deck. She looked at the ship. "Ay! We'll never surrender!" She shouted. She ran back down. "Load the cannons!" She shouted to Liza and Patric.

"Right away!" laughed Patric, running to do so. He lit the fuse and held the cannon steady, grinning at the earsplitting report as it went off.

Ella ran up above deck. "Surrender, or have your ship blown apart!" She screamed. She pulled out a pistol and started shooting at the ship.

A familiar voice shouted from the Navy ship. "Never!" it yelled. A boy wearing the stripes or a new recruit on the hems of his sleeves aimed a rifle at the ship and fired, hitting the deck a few inches from Ella's feet. "Next time I won't miss, Alexa," the boy shouted. "Surrender or die!"

"I wont surrender! How do you know the captain's name?" She shouted. She shot at the boy and hit a boy next to him.

Liza cut a rope and swung over to the other ship. She drew her sword and started taking down the Navy.

Milo glanced at his fallen comrade, checking quickly to make sure he wasn't dead. The recruit gave him a weak thumbs-up before he was carted off to the infirmary. "Never you mind!" he shouted at the girl, at Alexa. She had been his captain, but that was long ago. She was trying to trick him. He would kill her. He brought the rifle up and fired, but a cannon blast rocked the ship and the bullet pierced her arm instead of her chest. All around Milo, his fellow soldiers pressed in against the girl who had swung over. One girl was no match for two score soldiers, and although they lost a few, they managed to capture the girl with little to no fatalities. "Surrender!" shouted Milo, "Or your captain dies!" One of his fellow soldiers pointed a gun at Liza's head, to show they weren't joking. "As for you, Alexa, you're mine!"

Liza looked over at who had just shouted. "Go ahead shoot me, but at least I go down a fighter. Not a traitor!" She struggled but it was no use they had caught her.
