Adèle stepped outside into the cold, fall air. Orange leaves floated to the ground and she wrapped her shawl tighter around her shoulders with a tiny frown; New York was so much better than Paris! So many varied sights and smells and different people. She sighed, but not before bumping into a boy with blonde hair and green eyes. She smiled up at him.

Sam smiled at the girl. "Bonjour," he said. She was a pretty girl, maybe a year younger than him. She looked like she might be French. He waited for her to respond.

[ Actually, she’s two years older than him. x3 ]

Adèle smiled. “Salut! (Hi!)” she exclaimed. A fellow French-speaker! Her bottle-glass green eyes shimmered in the dusky, morning light. “Comment allez-vous? (How are you?)”

Sam smiled widely at the girl. She could speak French too! "Merci bien! Je suis Sam. Je suis de Paris, et vous? Êtes-vous profiter de New York?" (Fine thanks! I'm Sam. I'm from Paris, what about you? Are you enjoying New York? )

“I’m from Paris, and I like New York,” replied Adèle. She smiled and tucked a strand of black hair behind her shoulder. She clutched her shawl tighter and blinked her startlingly green eyes.

"Cool! Would you like to go get some coffee? Oh, I don't think I caught your name," Sam said. He tried to keep himself from slipping in to a trance. Her green eyes were amazing and hypnotizing. She was...beautiful.

Adèle smiled. “Adèle,” she replied gently, gazing up at him. She barely knew him, but she needed some friends. And he looked sweet enough. “Coffee would be nice. I hear that there’s a place with pumpkin spice for autumn.” She breathed in the scent of the leaves and brushed some dust off of her freckles.

Sam smiled. "Cool! I love pumpkin," he said happily. "Adèle," he repeated. "A beautiful name, for a beautiful girl."
