DEREK MICHAEL THOMPSON24 | bisex/rom | workaholic | mood - frantic | tags - x | location - inn room-->town━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
!beep beep!
A groan was heard from a figure underneath a stack of blankets.
!beep beep!
A hand flew out from underneath the blankets and slammed down on the generic nightstand.
!beep beep!
A head finally emerged from underneath the tangle of blankets. Derek rubbed his eyes with his free hand before flipping over to his back to sit up. He finally hit snooze on his phone before running his hands over his eyes. He took a moment to just sit and let out a large yawn-glancing over at his phone before he let out a curse and nearly flew out of bed. Luckily for Derek, he didn't sleep with a shirt on so it was easy to get changed into his work attire.
His goal today was to take his sketchbook out into the town and get sketches of the surprising, beautiful architecture that littered the town. He originally assumed this town wouldn't have much to offer for him-that it would just be another oldish town with architecture. This town seems to have more to offer every day.
When Derek had finally gotten himself collect he went over to the chair he had in his room. Opening his suitcase he had next to the chair he pulled out his sketchbook and his kit full of rulers, protractors, and anything else he might have needed for sketching. He put the materials in his messenger bag and slung it over his solider.
Derek was quick to leave his room-barely remembering his phone, wallet, and room key. It didn't take long for Derek to leave the-rather comfortable looking-hotel. Except it was less like a hotel and more like an inn. It was stylized and fit the town almost perfectly-it didn't seem as if it was made for tourists. Almost as if it was another shop or house. It baffled him. This small town had given him more than he could bargain for. But regardless he had a job to do. That's why he was here. And not with his family. Not that he had much-just his close family. He didn't have time for a relationship.
By the time Derek had made it out of the inn and out in the town. He let out a soft scowl before pulling his messenger bag closer to his body before making his way towards the heart of town. There he could find somewhere to sit and sketch. He decided that he would settle on the township building. It wasn't the most appealing but it had some beautiful columns and arches sketched in. Enough to catch his attention at least.
Without hesitation, Derek set out on his mission. His face was grim and posture rigid. People were quick to stare at him and move out of his way he wouldn't move for anyone. He was here for the sole purpose of work and work only. He didn't have time to stop and converse with the locals.
It didn't take long for Derek to get to the town hall. And there he was able to settle down on a bench not too far from the building. It was at an angle but he didn't mind-it gave him more practice on dreaded angles. Even resound architects sometimes struggled with angled perspective. It didn't take long for Derek to get his sketchbook out and plug in one of his headphones. He repeated again that he was here for work. Work. Work only.

══════════════════════════════════════════════════════Cass patiently waited on a response from the man since there seemed no immediate danger. He knew that he probably had been a bit dazed or in shock from the crash. When he mentioned that he couldn't get the door open, Cass gave it a try. He found that he also could not get it open. "Yeah, I'll get you out," he told the man. He tried again but harder for a few seconds before deciding he would have to switch to a different tactic. "I'm gonna be right back." Quickly he walked back to his car and opened up the trunk. He looked around in the trunk for a few seconds before he found what he needed.
Cass made his way back over to the crashed car with a crowbar. He wedged it as far as he could into the crack of the door. "Let's hope his works," he mumbled. After making sure it was in there good, he began to push on it with one hand and pulled on the car door handle with the other. He could hear the creaking of metal, and not much later the door popped open. "Yes!" he cheered. "Can you get out, or are your legs stuck?"

margo barely noticed when she hummed the bars along to ezra's playing, the holidays were pretty ingrained in her. she had never laid claim on a favorite christmas song, in general she was delighted with any that came on as long as it didn't repeat on an endless loop. although she wouldn't deny being partial to a mariah carey. but she could go all out with any of the other holiday songs as well. she walked up to the bottom of the porch, "well, i'm not entirely sure yet," she said, mimicking ezra's own response as she tucked a piece of blonde hair behind her ear. "i guess the holiday jingle's were calling my name, even the warmth of my bed wasn't enough to keep me inside. besides, the decorations are so nice to look at. i always forget by midsummer and it amazes me every time." a soft smile lit up her face and her gaze traveled up ezra's house before it drifted again, and she turned in a circle as she looked at the neighboring yards. "actually, my parent's were talking about needing more lights for this year, we've been wanting to set up the outside lights to the radio station and my dad figured out how to get more power to our house for it?" she said when she turned back to him, a light laugh followed as she shrugged. they were not the wealthiest family but she'd asked one year long ago to do it and it seemed like her dad always remembered. "of course, the bakery's open and i just needed a peppermint latte,"

He raised an eyebrow, doubtfully, as the other man tried to open the door from the outside, fairly certain that it wouldn't work. And he'd been right - though there was no joy in this. He was a little uncertain as to whether the man would be back - he couldn't turn to check or anything, so he decided to just wait. Not that there was anything else that he could do. He wouldn't be surprised if he ended up getting abandoned, but he wouldn't let himself come to that conclusion so easily.
Admittedly, Merrick was a little surprised that the man had returned - and with a crowbar. He waited quietly, until the door had finally popped open, and he breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "Thank you." Merrick said, a little out of breath. Then, he nodded a little. "I think I can..." though the front of his car had been crushed, apparently the frame around the area with the pedals hadn't suffered that much damage. A holiday miracle, Merrick decided to consider it as. There was still some shock there, though, he was sure, and he wanted to be careful of the broken glass. So, with this in mind, he turned and slowly made his way out of the car, resting a hand on the outside of the car to steady himself.
He couldn't quite bring himself to look at the full extent of the damage, so Merrick just focused on the stranger. "Thank you, again. I... don't suppose you know where the nearest mechanic is?" Ezra Price

He nodded in agreement. The town tended to get very quiet during the rest of the year, that he would also forget the true extent of the extravagance that would go into the holiday season. It was enough to power them through the next year, where it would appear like any other ordinary town. And, on the subject of Christmas songs, Ezra also had quite the enjoyment for most of them, he couldn't just pick one or two as a favourite.
"Oh, that's excellent! I look forward to seeing it when the lights are put up!" he said, rather excited. Some people left their lights and decorations until the week before Christmas, but most liked to put them up as soon as socially acceptable. "I think that there's some wonderful, strings of multi-coloured flashing lights in one of the stores in the High Street - I wish I remembered which one."
Ah, and the bakery's peppermint lattes were excellent as well at this time of year... personally, Ezra preferred the gingerbread ones, but both were very good. It was something he often heard from tourists as being one of the highlights.
He was about to say something else, when he saw someone he didn't recognise walking by, looking very much as though they were in a hurry. It was an odd sight for the town. Hardly anyone was in a hurry in Pineridge. That, and the unfamiliarity of the person made Ezra draw the perhaps obvious conclusion that the man was a visitor. A busy one at that.
Ezra raised an eyebrow at Margo after the stranger had passed by, silently questioning whether or not she knew the man or had even seen him around before.

══════════════════════════════════════════════════════"Okay, good," Cass said when the man said he could move. If he had been stuck, Cass would have probably gotten in to help him. He definitely wasn't going to leave him there. Not helping him when he could, would be a terrible thing to do. He also would be leaving him out in the cold to freeze. While waiting for the man to get out, he used the chance to walk around the car and get a look at the wreck. It was too much for him to fix, but he was sure it would be no problem for the Hunt family.
Cass walked back around to where the man was standing against the car. "Of course," he replied to his thanks. "I actually know some great mechanics. They're pretty close too. I can take you there." He began to walk back to his car, but then paused and turned back to face the man. "I just realized I never introduced myself. I'm Cassian, but most people call me Cass." As he spoke, he held out his hand for him to shake.
