Did CS go down for anyone else?

Hey guys, bit of a long post but hoping for some answers here. Before anyone asks, I was unable to contact/email the mods bc I couldn't access the website at all, so I couldn't get any contact info.

Yesterday morning, I went to log in and was met with a "connection timeout" error. I thought CS was just down, so I checked multiple down-detecting websites and all concluded that CS was working fine & it was a "just me" problem.

I decided to log in on my phone instead, and my phone also couldn't load CS, throwing the same error. They use different browsers, and obviously being difference devices they also have different firewalls, so there went most troubleshooting suggestions. The rest of my internet & websites were perfectly fine, including one other HTML-based forum.

I crossed to an internet cafe across the street from my house, and on their wi-fi, CS loaded perfectly fine. I can only conclude that the problem was not with any of my devices, nor with CS itself, but with my internet/router.

I was run around for a while, mostly by confused employees trying their best but ultimately unable to find the problem or do anything. CS abruptly started working again just a few minutes ago, with no fanfare, effort, or explanation.

My question is, did anyone else have this problem? Obviously it's not a problem with CS, but I can't be the only one on this old, vast website using Xfinity. Does anyone know what happened, or have any theories? I work an online job, so I'm worried about something like this happening to a website I need for my livelihood.

This issue has been reported to us by other users already, unfortunately so far Nick hasn't been able to determine what exactly is causing it. It does seem to be originating with specific internet connections, for example, your phone was probably connected to the same wifi as your PC, I expect if you turned off the wifi on your phone and connected only through cellular it would work. Users who experience this have also said that using a VPN or private browsing seems to allow you to connect when this is happening. It does seem to happen on and off for some users, so it may happen to you again in the future, if it does you can try some of these workarounds. To me it does sounds similar to when a website is being blocked by the firewall, but I'm personally not sure how/why that would be happening intermittently. I suppose you could ask your service provider if there is any reason it would be blocked temporarily or only for certain periods.

Feel free to send in a help ticket as well, we can forward it to Nick for you. If you submit a ticket while logged out it will get sent to your email instead, that way you would still be able to receive and respond to our messages even if you can't access the site.
