how to get more pets?

I know about the shop ones, but is trading and the event/monthly pet update the only way to get pets? And how do I know trades are fair?

You can get the pet and item value script and that'll help.

Go into the Free Adoptions forum and find some new user giveaways. Post in the Introductions and Newbie forum as well to get adopted.

There are often longtime players more than happy to donate to newbies! Looking in the forums for giveaways can be a good place to start, along with snagging pets/items from "Pound & Lost and Found" in the adopt tab.

For figuring out fair trades, for the most part people try to keep the dates and rarities as similar as possible, using multiplications of two to make up for rarity gaps. Example: trading two common pets from 2015 for one uncommon pet from 2015 would be considered fair in most circumstances. Players may have personal preferences for certain species/designs over others, which is why horses and rats are generally considered less valuable than dogs and lions.

For more complicated trading with really rare pets, most people swear by Horror's guide for fair trades: Forum/viewtopic.php?f=135&t=4899188

It seems complicated at first but over time you'll get the hang of it! If people are cool with it you can always try asking for suggestions/advice too during trades.

hiya! you get more pets in a lot of ways. events, monthly adopts, daily at the lost and found & the pound, and from trading! you can trade with other players by going to their profile. you can also be gifted pets too, you can do so by participating in giveaways and free pet forums.

(although you can get free pets, please don't post about asking for free pets as its against chicken smoothie's rules.)

to make sure a trade is fair, you can use trading advice threads, pet value threads, or a trading value script.
