Forum game resets?

Why do people reset/remake forum games after 900 pages? I've seen this in the rules for many forum games, but I know it isn't about that being the page limit because I have seen one that reached 901, so why do people remake them?

Its just to help keep the site's server from lagging too much. Whenever you open a thread the site loads every post from the thread at once (even though you just see one page) so the longer the thread is the more load there is on the server. Capping threads at 900 pages just helps keep that from ever becoming a major issue ^^
