how to appeal to traders?

Postby SmilesTV » Mon Feb 16, 2026 2:51 am

i REALLY love trading in these types of games, i think its a fun way to get involved in the community and stay active, but im having kind of a hard time reeling in traders.
is it because of my stuff? or should i be including specific things in my trading posts that people often look for? i made my trading rules as helpful as i could, i think, but im open to any feedbacks on how im laying things out. or maybe not getting a lot of trades is normal? any feeedback helps, thank you so so so much in advance!! :D

A tip I can give you right away is to lock your pet groups of pets you don't want to trade away. Same goes for items, if you lock your pet groups and items you won't get unwanted trades for them.

Open groups often cause frustration from both sides since it is often unclear if you don't want to trade certain pets/items away, so that solves a lot of problems before they even can surface.

I will say, a lot of traders on the forums prefer to trade for high value pets. This ABSOLUTELY doesn't mean nobody browsing wants to trade for commons or whateves, high value pets just have a bigger audience! So that could be one small reason.

Also, DEFINITELY agree with Takora Drakan up there ^. If I see a lot of groups that aren't obviously for trade, or god forbid not for trade at all, I tend to get overwhelmed or annoyed sifting through the pages and just skitter away to look for somebody else.

The BIG thing I noticed though, Is the title of your trading post! "lf: trades!" is VERY bare-bones, and will either blend in or get drowned by the titles that are more detailed and/or eye catching. I suggest adding emojis/symbols, and being more detailed with what trading with you will be like! Things like the kinds of pets you have for trade, how many pets, if you are a very easy trader, and what you are especially looking for, are some options to add to the title! Of course, there is a character limit, but I suggest looking around at how others are titling their posts for inspiration!

Another thing you could do is spice up the actual trade post some more. Making it overly fancy and decorated could possibly intimidate, but having little dividers and pngs/gifs here and there that feel fun and welcoming can make trading with you feel more exciting and friendly!

There's my two cents. Hope it helps ya get more bites!

Also, if you're not already using the monthly swap threads, I often get a lot of offers from there as well c: those threads are more limited in thr types of trades you're allowed to advertise for but as long as any trades mame you happy it's a good spot to do some little swaps here and there.
