Oekaki Question

Postby Kawaiisnail08 » Thu Aug 07, 2025 12:04 pm

I was wondering if there was a way to use the fill tool to fill in lines on a DIFFERENT layer, like how you can do in ibisPaintX? I just can’t imagine everybody is coloring things by hand to have color on a seperate layer or using the fill tool and having the color on the lineart layer.

Hi! Unless I’ve missed something too, I don’t think you can. I don’t have the Oekaki help guide nor could I find it buuuut, from what I’ve seen you can trace where you want to fill (under the lineart, etc) with a 1 pixel brush and then fill it? I personally just do it manually lol

There isn't a way to do that as far as I know. The closest you can get is duplicating the line layer then using the fill tool on that under the original line layer. I usually use a pixel brush so that there aren't any extra pixels that the fill bucket can miss/that I have to go back and fix and so that lower-opacity parts of linework don't become visually duplicated. Otherwise I do color it manually since I don't know of another method : )
