What dog breed is this based on?

What breed of dog is this pet from the 2018 Chinese New Year event based on? Has there been a GUPP of it, or would it not be applicable as it doesn't technically have PPS?



I'm asking as it very much resembles my late dog, Ghost, who was a GSD/akita mutt!

This post sent me on a rabbit hole to try to figure out what dog breed it is actually based on. I always thought it was based on West Highland White Terriers because I had one and this CS dog is the closest CS pet to him.
So I tracked down the February 2018 discussion thread and apparently this whole litter is based off of Chinese dog breeds! Link

I do see now how it's depicting a wirehaired breed. I'd never heard of the xiasi before, what a neat looking dog! It's like an inu-type bully breed wearing a Westie costume <3 lol

Westies are fun little guys! My aunt had one named Snowball when I was a kid.
