Pound update

Can a member of staff please provide information about the pound update? I don't see anything public about this, just a brief mention on site updates. Was this entirely staff decision? I don't see any online chatter about it.
I worry since the rarity update had it's flaws, and I worry I am out of the loop on something critical.

There won't be any further information other than the preview on site updates until it goes live.
