what is a list pet

im so confused i dont understand
what is a list pet what is an ex list
i know theyre terms for trading but i dont know what kind of trading help

List pets were very sought after, valuable pets mainly from 2008 but there have been special releases every year since then
It got discontinued as values were all over the place and it wasn't being updated I believe

List pets are also pets of higher value (because they are so sought over)

Like for example a list pet that is rare from 2010 will have a higher value than a normal 2010 rare.
