How to cut CS pets out easily?

How's it done? XD

I thought it would be easy (never done it before, thought it would be fine, never had difficulty cutting out other things), but turns out it isn't. x.X

I have Photoshop CS5, if that helps. I'm still a complete noob though.

It maybe easier for the pets without lineart edits, but I had a difficult time trying to cut out the newest store wolves. Turns out when it's transparent here on CS (I used my own pets), when I copy and paste it, it has a black background.

Any help for a photoshop noob? x) I gave up on the store wolves last night, but I just got an order to cut out the Joker dog.

Instead of copying & pasting, right-click & save as. Then open up the saved file and it should preserve the transparency.
