This has been such a nice update

It's a nice update, but I still just find the pound very stressful. It's a competition as to who can click faster, and I can't even register what's there before it's gone. I've kind of given up on hoping for anything and am often left wondering why I even waited hours for the countdown. It would be less disappointing if we all saw different pets.

When you adopt a pet, there's very little "impact", so to speak. It just instantly put a heart on the pet, removes the countdown to get a new set of pets, and adds a link to view your new pet. It makes me feel like I missed something! The instant heart is fine, but maybe the countdown can fade out and the link can fade in with the "box" it's in with a highlighted (lighter or darker) background color?

Hmm, do you have your web browser set to "prefers reduced motion"? We have an animation of the big heart growing in, and a few little hearts floating upwards and away, but this is disabled for people who have explicitly opted out of motion.

It would be less disappointing if we all saw different pets.

You do all see different pets in that each person gets their own random pick to see, but most pets do get seen by multiple people just from the sheer number of players involved.

However since our update in late 2023, not all of the pets get released for adoption right at the start of the opening, so if you stick around for a few more refreshes you can still find pets that nobody else has seen yet.
