Recently I received a PM from a coder who said that they feel certain conversations among frequent posters crowd out the requests for help. They asked that I make a coding army to move those conversations out of here so that this thread can be for coding help only. This I will not do since the mods specifically closed the last coding army that existed, but I wanted to check in with the rest of y'all to see if you think that this is an issue. If so, how do you think it could be fixed?

I might not change anything. Or things might change. It depends on what you guys think about this.

Hmm, the conversations on the thread has been a problem. It does block out the need of help of others when our comment/ conversations are not in need. A coding army would work, but then the mods surely did close the previous army for specific reasons. Maybe if one of us pm the previous members of that army or the owner, (who I remember the names but will not post here) of why it was closed. Then pm a mod ad see if we can get permission from them to open up a new one considering the reason why the other one was closed to keep that from happening again. Also,we might want to ask the former owners for permission to make a new one.

I apologize if I'm one of those coding chatters - I was wondering about this, actually. ;w; I think having a Coding Army would be a brilliant idea, but I suppose that's out of the question... may I ask why? Is there any way we could make it so we could have a thread like that once again, but have some specific rules to make sure it isn't closed once more? I think bronze.'s idea could work well. ;w;

We can have a linked to CS offsite chat. There is no need to go through all of the jargon and create a forum again, getting permission and whatnot. Also, you wouldn't need permission from the previous owners, just the mods. If they get ticked, the words of a person with coloured text overrules their word here on CS anyway.

From how I see it, it was locked because it excluded people, that is happening now here too. Those who were known in the coding community were always answered, whereas there were people excluded and there was also a lot of negativity thrown around over who has better signatures and who didn't. I was one of the people who was against that from the start and in a way fought for it's closure because it was a thread that was meant to be welcoming, but it was a thread that turned out to be exclusive to like 9 people and then a handful more; and that was it.

This tutorial page is turning into a chat, most of it because people are asking for opinions on their signature or part of their signature and how they can fix 'x' part and does it look good and all of that and "Opinions on this" Like it we are shopping for a bunch of clothes at this really expensive shop. All of that kind of stuff belongs in the "Rate your signature and avatar" Thread, not here. If you want to ask about x part of your signature, ask there. You might not get an expert reply, but it is good to take in everyone's replies if you are that interested in doing so.

If you need help with the coding, that belongs here; but opinions on a signature belong in the "Rate your signature" Thread and "Signature respect" thread, that is why we have them. Also, no need to show off your new signature here too. Yes, I am guilty of that; but I never did it every week. Or every few days. I love how everyone is progressing, but I think that is spam to the purpose of this thread.

This thread should purely be for tutorials and questions relating to tutorials or other knowledgeable things really. It is a work in progress I know; I have a lot of signature tutorials to make, but right now I feel turned away from the idea because of the spam, like, I don't want to be making a tutorial and then a conversation starts or someone needs help and I can't help because I have 2000 words, screenshots and a few gifs explaining to people how to make rounded gif corners, you know. It kind of demoralises me in a way and it makes me look snobbish, or at least I feel snobbish.

Also, I do not think having a coding army would be a good idea. In the end, I disliked what it became because of what it ended up becoming and I was not one who was going to mingle in the environment it made.

It was closed for a reason. Let's keep it closed. I am fine with a chat if that doesn't turn out negative. I also know a website where you can read logs to see who is being negative and why so they can be excluded if something happens.

I apologize for being blunt and possibly coming off as negative here; I have had a really crappy morning and it is only 9am, but that is how I see it and to be honest, I have been wanting to say it for a while about the spam of people asking for opinions on your signature on the thread here; yes it is helpful but the only people that really should be spamming the thread are those who are marking, no one else. I keep loosing track of where all of the tutorials I am working on are and it is somewhat annoying when I have to try and remember a key word and use the search function.
