The state of the economy... Overblown or a real problem?

I don't know much about the economy of pets that's being referred to here, but I must say I'm a bit more worried about the other part of the economy, as in C$.

I've been trading C$ for a while to get pets I wouldn't have been able to trade for otherwise, but recently the prices have started to go up quite a bit, and I've been unable to trade this way because I can't afford it. I'd been hoping the rerelease would put the prices back into a more affordable range for me but that obviously won't happen now. I've pretty much given up on trading C$ for the rest of my time on this site and will most likely only buy it for myself. This means that now I won't buy nearly as much C$ as I have, maybe reduce it to once a year instead of once a month like it's been for a while.

I know that if it's just me this probably won't affect the site very much, but I think that there's a big chance that I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

Maybe I'm exaggerating the problem, I don't know, I've become very attached to this site in the last year and I'm just worried about how what happened might change it.

I feel this way too, the only reason I have the good pets I have is because of spending a heap on C$. I was happy to do it because I enjoyed the game, however it is becoming so hard to get pets even with C$ and people are becoming so uptight that CS is starting to lose a bit of its appeal and I'm not sure I want to continue to spend real money on it, something I think should be considered when considering another release. It's all very well having over 200000 members but if half of those members have lost hope in collecting due to the scarcity of pets it wont keep the site going, especially if a lot of those members are the ones who actually spend real money on the game.

The thing about this is we have always had two boxes to adopt
2 Malk and 2 Normal assorted
So not only were the adoption ratios skewed to accommodate for increased adoption, but the actual adoption number was cut back

Well, that's not entirely true. The extra Malk box has only been available once. Except this one year it has always been only one box with the adoption limit of two.

I wasn't around for any year besides this one and last, but were Malk pets rereleased in 2009? If not, then this would be the first year that we really had both in the same box ^^
The Malk box wasn't released in 2009, but the normal box was available for two days. So in both previous years there has been way more pets adopted for the 18th than this year.

And that is no entirely true either. There was a glitch on the 18th which made the box not appear for a few hours. To compensate for that the box was available a few hours into the 19th.

Oh, well at the time I was only a few months into being a member, and all I remember was that it was there still on the 19th. My bad.

I support the idea of another "18" box before the end of the year. It's understood that the Admins made a mistake in the adoption flow, so the logical thing would be to fix it before we throw ourselves out of proportion. I'm not complaining about my particular 18, I was able to trade for some nice pets, but the scary thing is, I spent hour after hour looking for one toxic. Last year, CS was overflowing with them. So yes, the ratio scares me a bit.
The best thing in my opinion would be to release another "Big Box" some time before the end of the year, even if the adoption limit was one per user, it would increase flow of Rares/Very Rares to a level the CS users hopefully find acceptable.

I agree with what you've said. I've noticed a couple of people getting the same two pets two. I saw one person, had 2 '09 uncommon rats. Then another, 2 '08 VR Christmas Cats O.O

That's a great idea. Have the box available to adopt for a few days 2-3(?) so that if someone misses a day, they don't miss out on the box

Unfortunately, we can't do that. Either this would give time for people to create a million accounts each:



or we would have to block everybody in that entire time period from adopting, which would also suck.
