I know how the pound works๐Ÿ˜ญ I don't think I've seen maintenance but twice(1 forced bcuz the site crashed due to mass posting on this 1 thread, and 1 very recently) Not to mega dawg CS. I love it, but much like Animal Jam Classic, it's heavily neglected. Both are stuck with old coding that stacks up lag really quickly, and just have alot of outdated stuff on it. As much as I love CS, they also tend to have the worst system for unsdoing scam/ninja trades. But I'm discussing the Pound bots, did mobile today, and all first 5 pets on my page were taken before I could even really register what they were(1 was a storepet 2015 Deer, the rest were just oldies), and the same happened on my second page, the 3 oldest pets were immediately snatched, skipped a rat, than the 2 other rares on the page were snatched.

I know there are things in place to help detect bots on CS but its never going to be 100% foolproof so if you think something is slipping by you should report it. Unfortunately though we can't just take 'pets are gone really quickly' as proof there are bots, some PCs load faster than others, the time you reload the pound would also impact that, etc. Just because a pet is gone by the time your page loaded doesn't mean it didn't load faster/earlier on someone else's PC. There are also a lot more people accessing the pound nowadays compared to even a few years ago, thanks to people now getting discord notifications when there are pound openings so they don't need to be actively on the site to know there is an opening. This means there is a lot more competition for pets now and they will be grabbed from the pound faster. Unfortunately there isn't much to do about that unless we were to re-haul the pound entirely so that notification bots are no longer useful.

Not sure if this would help much, as I'm not trying to report a player directly, but I will keep it noted! I'm mainly trying to discuss the possibility of a auto-clucker/acript being used n maybe draw it to the attention of somebody who can handle it

The pound was recently reworked. They introduced a "drip" system for rares meaning rare pets can appear on page 2, 3, 4 etc. instead of all the rarest appearing first. A post was made not long ago literally linking the scripts so that was also a major issue in my opinion.

Many other sites utilize bot detection. CS might be able to do this but I highly doubt it. Not sure how known this is, but CS is built using a free (correct me if im wrong on the free part) forum template. You can Google Forum templates and find one that is almost identical to CS. Nick has done a decent bit of work on it with additions but it is the main reason certain updates or issues don't get addressed. I do not know if CS can implement a bot detection system on this template.

At this point for the pound to be truly equal they would need to give out the pets at random and take away the power of choice. I wouldn't like that per say, and I'm sure others wouldn't either.

Overall i think the pound needs to be desperately reworked entirely but it's all up to Nick and only Nick. It's been stated CS will not hire outside help. I believe it's an important feature to the cs economy so an overhaul would be lovely, however I do not think this will happen.

I think the drip thing was nice, I hate how the undid the re-evening of rare+ pets distribution in the pound & the upping the amount of pets in the pound that was in the update with the "drip" thing.
I think they're doing Nick so dirty by refusing to hire outside help, it's actually obsurd to expect to run this place efficiently on one coder. They really should look into hiring outside help, maybe friends or something, but have 1 coder for this big of a site is just genuinely befouling. I'd rather they sell it to a new owner than use the "We only have 1 coder" as an excuse, and refuse to get the easy solution of hiring more coders. (I suppose they may have a valid reason, and I'm not owed an explanation, but I am kinda curious why they're staunchly against hiring outside help)

Nick would actually most likely be the one to hire outside help. He's the sites sole coder so it would make the most sense for him to look for someone that would know the code language, year, etc. Senior admins and below do not have a lot of power when it comes to updating CS.

They send suggestions to Nick all the time in terms of general updates and widely accepted/supported ideas but we still do not know how he responds, or if he responds to these.

It seems Nick responds to general small issues on the site, like an issue with the halloween minigame last year, but stayes silent on larger updates or suggestions.

I sympathize for cs staff cause I'm sure they'd love for problems like this to be changes as I see they gotta respond to the same issues with the same response all the time, but it is literally 100% up to Nick and Tess to fix any of this.

I hope they(Nick & Tess) stop being so stubborn about hiring more coders, because the lack of fixing larger issues on this site is beginning to do more harm than good :(
I 100% agree it should be Nick to hire an outside coder, as he's the one who has been coding since practically Day 1, and he'd know how to teach new coders the best. But if he is ignoring these major issues because it's too much of a workload for him(Because having 1 coder who probably has a life/job/family to code n fix a whole site is wack), and won't hire a new coder, he honestly should hand the workload off to a new group of people he can trust.(I would staunchly disprove of Nick passing it off to only one person, this site should definitely have more than 5 coders for all the issues n bugs it runs into)
(R.i.p mods trying their best, this site is a fish out of water at times, ya'll troopers fr)

Honestly wouldnโ€™t surprise me if there were a few people using bots (because youโ€™re right, some of those clicks are insanely fast), but I donโ€™t think their use would be super widespread. Could also be partially down to people moving their mouse to the right part of the screen (i.e top left) before the page loads and clicking adopt immediately once it does, or going through the adoptions group before the pound opens and knowing what to keep an eye out for (this is what I do), which could help you react just that little bit quicker. Otherwise I donโ€™t know, as someone with a tendency to react slowly to things, some people are just built different lol

I have an older computer. Its gone through about two viruses (not crazy bad popup ones but severe trojans have been detected twice).
CS does lag sometimes, not often- but yes, pound pets are disappearing CRAZY FAST!!

Like- blink and you miss it.

Im a fast clicker but geez.

I totally agree about nick hiring more people..
CS is falling apart. We need to save our site! #HireNewCoders

It's currently 2AM where I am, I checked the pound THE second it opened and my oldest pet on the page was from 2013.

Back when I had my old account (like a decade ago), the pets never went this fast, even when CS was at it's peak in popularity. I remember you could stay up late and get rares way easier, even a minute or two after the pound opened because a lot of people were asleep by then.

I was even just confirming in my head that people must be using scripts or something when I came across this thread.
