adoption problem Help!!

i was only able to adopt the item-full stocking once. every day after that it said i already adopted it. can you only get it once? is it a glitch? or aliens???? someone please help i dont want to be attacked by aliens so i am asking you people instead

You can only adopt the stocking gift to decorate your pets once; I think Tess is just keeping it up so everyone who wasn't here when it was first available is still able to decorate their pets.
