Art shop question/advice

So I was thinking of opening up an art shop on here for pet trades and C$. But I'm not very confident in my work or sure what to price things at. The rules say I need to have a clear price listed, but was wondering if I would be allowed to offer 'pay what you want' until I get a general idea of like what people would thing was fair?

I also wouldn't mind just making a thread asking for ideas on pricing but I wasn't sure where to post that either. If that's allowed would I put it in this forum or this thread? Like I said I'm mostly hoping to get C$ and very rare+ pets to help with long term pet goals.

If so I have examples of some of my work. If anyone would have any advice.

It would be fine to make an art shop that is PWYW, the rules regarding being clear on what you accept as payment is probably referring to being clear about the type of payment, ie C$ vs pets vs real money, etc. All the important stuff is listed on the site rules, in the 'Art Rules' section, specifically the part titled 'Selling your art'.

You can also try looking around at other art shops in the board for ones that have similar styles that you do and see what their prices are (and usually good to pay attention to if they get a lot of interest or not, otherwise it might indicate their prices are too high for most, etc).

These are the main things to know when first getting started with art on CS;

• Any art shops in the art shops board must have a CS payment option, like C$ or pets, rather than being USD/real money only. This includes individual slot openings too, if you normally have a CS payment option, but open emergency slots for only USD, thats not allowed. You can always advertise USD-only stuff in your signature, or its allowed to accept USD-only for art shops on the oekaki, provided you are posting the art through the oekaki. The reason for this is cause USD-only art isn't considered relevant to be advertising on CS, there are much better platforms to find people willing to pay USD than here anyway. Its allowed on oekaki since using the oekaki makes it relevant to CS.
• You can accept real money, but the transaction has to be done entirely off-site, such as directing them to contact you on dA to get paypal info, or anything else needed to proceed with the exchange. Pretty much the only thing that should be negotiated here is the price. The reason for this is that you can't share personal info on CS, and sites that do the money exchange like Paypal typically have your real name or email visible which are both considered personal info. So you can't share things like paypal info here, even through private message.
• If you want to link to another site with examples, or to do real money exchanges, anything visible on the account you are linking much follow CS site rules. So if you wanted to show examples from dA, your entire visible dA account would have to follow CS rules. So, no personal info like age, name, photos of yourself, etc. As well as no gore, swearing, etc, that isn't allowed on CS. You can check the code of conduct in the site rules for what is/isn't allowed in that area. The reason for this is cause we have a younger audience on this site, we don't want them to be directed somewhere with inappropriate content. We aren't trying to control what you post on other sites, just whats linked here. So if it doesn't follow our site rules just don't link it here and it'll be fine. You can always post example images directly here so thats not an issue, such as making an thread in art galleries with site-appropriate art examples.

Thats probably a lot to take in, if you have any questions, especially specifics on rules, feel free to submit a help ticket to get help from staff directly. Staff can also check links for you to ensure they are ok to post here, and let you know if something specific would follow the rules or not, such as if you aren't sure if a specific art piece would be ok to post or not.
