Advice For A Relatively New Player?

I just started playing about a year ago but have been more on-and-off again until here lately. Any good pet/item guides to look at or general advice for a newer player who is looking to get more involved?

The Introductions & Newbie Guides forum may be of help to you, it has the Adopt a Newbie thread pinned at the top where you can get paired up with a more experienced player to mentor you.

Otherwise, if you're looking for trading advice specifically, you can poke around the trading forums. As for getting more involved, it depends what part of the site you're most interested in getting involved with. If you enjoy trading, that would be the trade forums; RP has the RP forums; if you're an artist, there's Oekaki and user-made adoptable communities, etc etc.

I'm happy to answer more specific questions if you have them, but that's about the best I feel capable of doing in terms of very broad advice.
