What are the rules around copying chickensmoothie art and selling it??

I was chatting with my younger siblings and it came up, I swear we’re not trying to find loopholes, it was just an intriguing subject xD

IF I was to draw, say, the moonswirl, in my style, would I be allowed to sell it on cs?

If not: why?

If person A draws a moonswirl, can person B copy person A’s version and sell it??

If I was offering free adopts, can someone request I draw a CS pet?? As long as it’s free

From the CS Art Rules :

"If you color a lineart to look like a CS pet you can't charge other users to “adopt” it from you. They may be given out for free on the CS forum only."

I was just wondering if I could have a more in-depth answer but not quite as long as the official rules, basically something to explain to 5-10 year olds xD (They’re NOT on CS jsyk) and why it’s not allowed to sell CS pet designs (they’re so insistent about some questions but I love talking about my hyper-fixations xD)

It has to do with copyright/ownership, the artist who designed the pets owns the design.

If your siblings drew a picture and gave that picture to someone for free, and then that someone sold the picture for money and didn't give any of that money to your siblings, the law would consider it unfair to them that someone else got money for their work.
