How to do columns?

Postby Theybuggers » Thu Nov 06, 2025 12:46 pm

Hello! I've only been on here a bit but I'm already having coding trouble..
I come from Flight Rising, which also uses BBcode, but I can't seem to use the columns feature correctly.
As in something like this, from my clan profile:

Where things are able to be listed in descending order, from left to right!

Text explanation:
COLUMN 1 | COLUMN 2 | COLUMN 3
COLUMN 1 | COLUMN 2 | COLUMN 3
COLUMN 1 | COLUMN 2 | COLUMN 3

The bbcode on the site doesn't have any ability to do columns in that way. There are ways to make an approximation of them but they do tend to be finicky. One of the more simple and reliable ways is to just use the left, right, and center codes, one for each column. If you do so I usually find it best to place them inside a quote box, text not in the columns can end up inbetween them since the bbcode doesn't recognize them as actual columns, just text in a specific area of the post with 'extra space' inbetween that it'll try to fill.

In the case of your example though since its all images you can just create the 'columns' yourself by just only putting 3 images on each line and then centering the whole thing. It ends up looking exactly the same even without having coding specifically for columns. I also suggest keeping in mind that if the text is coded to look a specific way on a computer screen, it may not necessarily look the same on mobile devices. Mobile screens usually compress the size of posts and can cause code to be squished, and in the case of columns, could end up moving them one under the other instead of next to each other.

Overall though the bbcode on here is going to be fairly limited when compared to the type of html coding on FR, which has a lot more options available. I'd suggest checking out this thread, it includes a lot of great info on how to code specific things within the bounds of bbcode, there is a section on columns in there that explains in more depth how to do them ^^
