How to value old pets?

So I’ve had this account for a while, and have also been gone for a while. At one point in time I was told that age paperclipped up in rarity for newer pets, but definitely wanted to come get some extra info before I looked at trading out my hoard!

I’ve got pets that date as far back as 2012. Is there a good method for helping determine their worth, in C$ or pets? Does age play a part in determination or am I focusing primarily on the rarity?
