Quick question

Hello, I had a quick question concerning pet rarity.
I was under the impression that I could trade my 2010/2011 uncommons for a recent (let's say 2017/2018) rare,
since I thought date matters too. 6 years seems like a lot and I thought this would make the pet be worth a recent rare, yet it seems I'm not having much luck with this.

Am I wrong? Is it not worth it? If so I'd love to know before I keep making these mistakes. The last thing I want to do is annoy people with my trades or seem unfair, which is the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve.

I had a break for YEARS, so I am totally out of what is worth what it seems.

If anyone could help me answering this, it would help a lot. Thanks! <3

It's an uncommon, not a common. But then what is the whole deal with "date matters too" if you can only get something from the same rarity despite there being years between?

Depending on what type of pet it is, i would most likely accept it. Make sure you arent trading for a rare pet with a Dec 18 date, since lots of those are actually much older

2010/2011 uncommons are worth 2012/2013 rares, but like the person above me said, if they were adopted on December 18th, then the pet is a re-release from an older year. There's this thread for pet worth:
