The Dark Side of the Woods
Chapter one
Sometimes, you never realize how much you love something until its gone. Thats what i thought as i watched her walk away, tears falling down her cheeks and her pawsteps falling hard, as if they were trying to keep her with me. Her snowy white fur, matted and bloodstained, her frail she-wolf body torn and ragged. She had every reason to stay with me......but perhaps its good that she was leaving. To the Light Side of the woods....the place i cant go, a place shes safe from my kind. Because i had harmed her.........physicaly and mentaly.....i would never forgive myself. A she-wolf, so innocent, so sweet and kind, with a large heart and a smile to make even the sun seem dull, happened to wander to the wrong, wrong place......the Dark Side........and that cost her greatly. All this pain and suffering....just because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This is my story.
I stretched, yawning such a loud yawn it would make a lion sound like a kitten. It made birds take off in every direction.....why were birds even here anyways? They live on the Light Side. Suddenly, a large rock smacking onto the back of my head snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned, letting out a snarl and baring my large bloodstained fangs. "WHO did that!?" i asked, a loud growl mixed in with my voice. Frightening, indeed.....but nothing Emalai wasnt used to. She chuckled, that chuckle always seemed to make me even more mad. "I did it" she responded, chuckling again. I flattened my ears and glared, not wanting to deal with my sister today. "Why? That HURT, Emalai!" She flicked her deep black tail and sighed, bright blue eyes looking at with a playful light, but also taunting. "Because you need to learn to wake up silently. That yawn was much too loud, what, do you want the tigers in the jungles to know your awake???" I sighed, anger deepening. This isnt even a good reason to be mad....Emalai had that affect on me. "I cant help my yawns! If they want to be loud, then theres nothing i can really do about it" I was NOT having a good morning. My head hurt from where the rock had hit it, and being mad so early was making me tired again.
Emalai grinned, seeing my weakness, and went to make a comment when suddenly a paw came over her snout and Jakisth poked his head out of the bush behind Emalai, blind white eyes showing annoyance. Emalai glared over her shoulder at Jakisth, but of course Jakisth couldnt see it. "You two need to stop bickering so much. No one around here can get sleep with you two fighting like shadows and light." Jakisth sighed, and began to walk off into the woods.....if you could even call it that. The Dark Side woods were different.....they were dead and twisted, with no life in them at all yet they were strong enough to stand. There was no plant life either.......so why was there game? Well, simple answer, the game ATE other game. Yes, thats right, on this side of the woods, deer also eat rabbits. There were no other plants.....so i guess they had to change to meat......pretty screwed up forest, huh?
