Saltwater, the medicine cat, came out of the den and looked at me and Oakspeck. "Hey, Oakspeck! Who's your friend?" she asked cheerfully. "Oh, this is Nightwing! She came to the clan a couple days ago, but today I didn't see her and I bumped into her. I think she hurt her left paw!" Oakspeck answered and smiled at Saltwater. "Well, hello, Nightwing! Welcome to the clan. Come on in, and lay down on this moss-bed!" Saltwater guided me over to the moss-bed and I thumped down onto it.
"What moss do you use?" I asked. "Oh! Well, I use carrageen moss! It's in the medium-waters of the fish-hole, and we all know how warm the water is there! That's why it's so soft!" Saltwater explained to me.
She looked at my paw, and then after a while smiled. "Oh, Nightwing, you miracle girl!" she exclaimed. "Your paw isn't hurt; it just hurt when Oakspeck bumped into you!"
"Does this mean.. Oakspeck, wanna go catch some prey?" I asked. "Of course, Nightwing, I'd love to!" Oakspeck winked teasingly at me, making me blush under my dark fur. Thank Twinkleclan for my fur!
"So, what should we catch?" Oakspeck asked when we finally arrived. I looked around; this was a new mountain, new territory. "Crow." I said. "What?" Oakspeck questioned. "I smell crows! This could be crow-hunting territory!" I laughed. "Oh, this is great, Oakspeck, let's catch crows!"
And so, me and Oakspeck started running all over the place, climbing into trees, and when some crows finally flew out, we ran and jumped as high as possible. Just to run all the way to the end of the mountain. To make a bit of the end fall down, to make us land lower than before.
"Nightwing, we could hurt ourselves!" Oakspeck said worriedly, looking at the long way down. "Wait." I said, scanning the area. "Look! A twoleg nest. It doesn't have fences, we could jump onto that bouncy thing there?"
Oakspeck nodded. He looked unsure. "I don't know.." he started. "Oakspeck. If you trust me, you need to jump." I said. "Take my paw!" he said, taking me into his paws and jumping. "WOOOOO-HOOOOO!" our voices could've been heard on the other side of PeaceClan. I felt like I was flying. Like a bird. Me and Oakspeck looked eachother in the eyes, and smiled.
Okay, wait. How did we stay this long in the air? I mean, I know there's a saying called "love is in the air", but I don't think it can actually let you stay that long up there. But, this feeling sure felt like the best one I'd ever felt. A crow flew up above us. I made my neck as long as possible, and just as my teeth touched it's wing, we started falling.
