Crowfall had been travelling for a few moons now, searching for a place where he feels he belongs. There had been a few occassions where he had met a group of cats but something inside him was telling him he shouldn't be here. There were some cats in the last group that he had somewhat grown attached to so he was sad to leave them but he knew he couldn't stay, and so, with a heavy heart, he left them in the dead of night to continue on his search.
After walking for days, only stopping for opportunity hunts and a sip of water, he finally paused to rest upon a rocky outcrop in the night. The tomcat's paws were aching and raw. He licked his paws to soothe them but a sharp light caught his eyes - through an opening in the pine trees he watched the sun rise, its light flooding the valley below him. It seemed to wake the forest from its slumber - the birds erupted into song and on the trees he could see the individual leaves being rustled by the breeze. Something inside of him clicked. This was it. This felt right.
After taking the morning to recuperate, Crowfall started to look around the area to see if this place could really support him for the rest of his life. Eventually he came upon a branching river network, it was bursting at the seams with fish of all sizes and colours. He'll come back to this later to fish, he thought.
As Crowfall trodded through the forest, the crunch of leaf litter underpaw, he heard something. He stopped in his tracks, confused, he couldn't tell what the noise was or where it came from. There it was again, it sounded almost like music. Crowfall followed the sound to a large, mature oak tree. As the wind scurried along its branches its leaves seemed to bellow out a melody music as they danced with the air. He sat and watched for a few moments, it seemed so unnatural but so.. true at the same time. He felt attracted to it, called to it.
--
Suddenly he began to feel uneasy - as if he was being watched. Crowfall raised to his haunches to prepare himself to fight back if need be and his ears swivelled, focusing on every sound around him. There. He hissed at the stranger "Show yourself, I know you're here."
"I'm no threat, don't worry yourself," the molly glided through the brush "I was just watching what you were doing." she said as she sat down slowly in an attempt to alleviate the tension she had inadvertantly caused with her presence. "I'm Eaglesight, I see you've found the Moontree."
"Crowfall." the tom muttered. Why is she so trusting, he thought, and why is she here alone. Is she even alone? He began to slowly look around, glancing back at her to be sure she wouldn't lunge.
"Don't worry, it's just me. It's only ever been me." she said wistfully "You're the first cat I've seen here myself, though I have no doubt, we aren't the first.", Eaglesight looked to the Moontree "It was like this when I found it, I didn't feel it was right to touch it." she said.
"A Moontree? You mean.. Starclan is.." Crowfall was visibly stunned, "It called me." he stated, not breaking his gaze with the Tree.
"Really?" she blurted out with astonishment, They had never once called out to her in her time here. "I thought They may have abandoned it, seeing as there were no cats to speak to Them." Eaglesight slowly approached Crowfall "You must spend the night here, They might tell you why They called you. I'll leave you here and come again tomorrow."
"Yes." Crowfall mumbled as he turned to face the molly. She bowed her head before trotting away into the undergrowth and out of sight. Starclan.. Why me?
