Territory:
RisingClan lives in an alleyway next to a library, in the middle of a crowded city. The humans of the city recognise the area as the cats' territory and mostly leave them alone, save for a few inquisitive kids. The cats aren't hateful towards them either and usually let them be. If a human starts breaking things, though, the cats will not hesitate to turn on them.

While kittypets often visit camp, the clan cats treat them in the same way as they do humans. Equals until otherwise.

The camp is structured out of large cardboard pieces and boxes, fixed together with glue, which the cats encountered many disasters trying to use before succeeding. They all look about the same.

Not too far out, there is a animal shelter which specialises in cats and a park. Both are places the cats regularly go to, the animal shelter to find new clan members and the park to scavenge for herbs or hunt.

Belief System:

The cats of RisingClan regards humans, which others call twolegs, as equals or superiors. They desire for the ability to think like humans, which drives them to learn to read.
When they obtain new cats, they obtain them from a nearby animal shelter which has the tendency to leave doors unlocked.
When a Leader goes to have their ceremony and receive their suffix, the place to go is the animal shelter, usually at night. It is unknown why it gives Leaders nine lives, but some say it's the souls of the dead cats that had once lived in the shelter or with the clans gathering to give the new lives.
For this reason, outside the shelter is where all dead clan cats are buried.

Traditions:

When a Kit is first born, they will be placed at the first shelves of the library, which are mostly nature-related non-fiction books or magazines. The Kit will then have to pick a book, judged by non-verbal or verbal signals like pointing or intense meowing in a single direction. One of the words in the title of the book will be used as the Kit's prefix.
Once an Apprentice finishes their Warrior ceremony, they are allowed free roam in the library where they will pick a book, and one of the words in its title will become the Apprentice's suffix. They have ten minutes, judged by the clock in the library, to do this. Apprentices can choose to carefully choose a suffix, or simply pick a book that seems right. A Warrior will follow alongside them so in case the book picked was a heavy one, they would not need to drag it back.
Adult cats joining the clan may choose to keep their name. If they want a new name, they may have 5 minutes to pick 2 books, one for their prefix and one for their suffix, or they may ask for the leader to give their name.
Any cat may join the clan as long as they wish to learn.
Dyslexia or other reading disorders: Cats with reading disorders find that the clan is harder to settle in, especially since so much emphasis is placed on the ability to read. Often they have to force themselves to try and figure out which words are which. For these cats, RisingClan has no viable solution yet and they often end up leaving or learning to cope. Of course, cats without these disorders may help cats with disorders to read.
Apprentice Assessments are specific assessments tailored to make the Apprentice face their worst flaw. For example, maybe an Apprentice who is very vain is forced to dig through mud to search for a frog. If the Apprentice is able to solve the problem in an unexpected way, that's even better as they have proven their creativity and intelligence. The assessment's nature is not told to the Apprentice before[s]hand[/s]paw.

Ranks:
Rank names and most details remain the same as any normal, book clan.

Leaders, with 9 lives and holding most of the decision-making power in the clan. They hold the suffix -reader.
Deputies are regarded as co-Leaders in a sense. They are chosen by the current Leader. Should the Leader die or disappear, the Deputy will step up as Leader. They do most of the patrol assigning as well, and step up if the Leader is absent for a major decision.
Medicine Cats and Medicine Cat Apprentices are responsible for learning about herbology, both through reading and through practical learning. They will be in charge of healing and looking after sick cats, along with delivering litters.
Warriors are the majority of the clan. They hunt and patrol by day like any other clan. By night, though, it isn't uncommon for a person to open the door to the library to see a Warrior sitting on a table, engrossed in reading Sherlock Holmes, for example.
Apprentices are Warriors in training. They obtain the suffix of -paw and will be assigned to a Warrior to train. They must be at least able to read basic English with fair reliability, among regular clan requirements, before they may become a Warrior.
Kits are cats less than 6 Moons old. They are usually taken in by a Warrior if they have no parent. It is encouraged they start learning a little bit of reading at this point, but not mandatory.
Kindlers are cats who are nursing Kits, adopted or not. This is the only rank with a different name, due to the original being deemed too uninclusive gender-wise. Kindlers are exempt from Warrior duties until their Kit grows to be an Apprentice.
Elders are cats exceeding the age of 120 Moons, cats who choose to back out of Warrior duties after the age of 100 Moons, or cats with a severe condition that makes them unable to be a Warrior or Medicine Cat. They become exempt from Warrior or Medicine Cat duties. They often become responsible for passing down stories to youngsters or recommending books to others.

Small Fish (2 servings)--The animal shelter does have many fish.
Scavenged food from trash (2 servings?)

Predators commonly found:

Snakes
Dogs
Twolegs (They are usually not hostile though)

"I'm sorry, Text. But...I don't have the resources to look after all of you anymore. I have to let one of you go. And, well, RNG said it was you..."

They blinked their sorrowful eyes. A tear slid down their face, and they closed the door, leaving Text standing before it.

It took nearly an hour for Text to finally make up her mind. She decided to stop making things difficult for her previous owner and opted to leave, heading to the next place she knew best.

The library.

Along the way, night had fallen and Text had gotten very lost. Thankfully, the Cat Shelter was nearby. She found a spot in the alleyway behind it, where she curled up and dozed off.

Eight pale, ghostly figured gathered over the sleeping she-cat, though Text was blissfully unaware of what was happening.

"Eight extra chances? Isn't that a bit much?" One of them murmured.

"Have you forgotten what our mother taught us? When we go to StarClan, we will be giving out lives like this too. Since we can't go to StarClan, we may as well do it here. She's got about as much talent and ability as we can hope for. Besides, we're pretty sure she's gonna start a clan."

"You mean he is." The first cat muttered, gesturing to one cat with a tail.

The second cat rolled their eyes. "Anyways, I'll go first, then."

Text woke up the next day feeling extra energised. She thought nothing of it as she looked around, eventually deciding on which way to go. That thankfully turned out to be the right direction as she soon saw the library, stocked with all its books, in the distance. She sped up, running to it.

The library had an alleyway at the back where people liked to toss cardboard boxes and other trash. Text thought it would be a pretty good place to stay. Cardboard boxes make pretty good shelter, contrary to common beliefs.

Once she had made a makeshift den for herself out of cardboard and glue-Text struggled quite a while but at least she was able to do it-she began considering what to do next. The most recent book series Anpho-her caretaker-had been reading came to mind. It was called "Warriors: Omen of the Stars", a 6-book series. They had only read the 6 books so far, and hadn't yet started on the other books of the series. However, Text found herself wondering if she could-and should-create a clan as well.

It seemed like a viable option. She didn't have much better to do. And as much book knowledge as she had, she couldn't survive on her own. Besides, there could very well be others like her. Maybe she should make a clan, for like-minded cats to settle and learn from one another and learn together. Yes, that was a good idea.

Text had no way of obtaining 8 other lives, of course. That wasn't possible. However, she could give herself a Leader suffix.

Since the clans worshipped stars, they had -star as the Leader suffix. Text was pretty sure she worshipped books, though. And calling herself Textbook just sounded ridiculous. So she decided on the next best thing.

Textreader.

With that decided, Textreader began gathering more cardboard and glue, working on the dens of the new clan, which she named RisingClan. Admittedly she might have just picked a random word, but hey, it was a nice name.

She would have to go look around in those garbage cans later to see if she could catch anything as well.

As Textreader passed by the side alley beside the Cat Shelter, she heard a scuffle from within. A moment later, a low mew could be heard, a cry for help. Frowning, the she-cat scrambled up the wall to the window where the sound was coming from-and almost fell off in shock as a cat with cloudy eyes stared back.

Quickly recovering, Textreader took a longer look and deduced that this cat was the one meowing. However, even though she was right in front of them, the cat seemed to be staring past her. After a glance back to check nothing was there, Textreader came to the only logical conclusion that they were blind.

Pushing herself up a little more, Textreader saw that the cat had scrambled up on a bunch of other cages of cats. Using her claws, she fiddled with a latch on the outside. It was only the first floor, so that made sense. A few minutes of attempting later, the lock window finally opened with a click. The other cat dropped their paws immediately as Textreader slowly pushed the window open outwards.

"Who are you?" The blind cat asked, reaching a paw upwards to grab the windowsill.

"My name's Textreader, she/her. Leader of RisingClan." Textreader introduced herself. "And you?"

"I'm Shane. You probably already figured out, I'm blind." The other cat responded in a quick, snappy tone. They hauled themselves up onto the window, stumbling a little. Textreader was gaping in awe. She had never seen a blind cat in action before, but Shane managed it. Maybe not with ease, but it was already very impressive. "He/him." Shane finished, balancing on the windowsill. "How far is it to the ground?"

"Five tail-lengths or so." Textreader replied. Shane huffed, apparently deciding Textreader wasn't helping, and began to slowly let himself down, grabbing the windowsill. When he had went as far as he could, he let go, dropping to the ground with a fierce stumble. When Textreader arrived on the ground after him and tried to help, he hissed her away.

Shane took a moment to dust himself off. "You're forming a group of cats then? Interesting. I can join." Textreader took a long moment before realising it was a request, which she quickly agreed to. "The Shelter's gonna have to euthanise more cats sooner or later without the funding-you'll have more coming your way." Shane added.

With a bit of difficulty, the two made their way back to camp. Textreader took a while to show Shane around, then told him to stay there. She really should go find some food. Shane surprisingly didn't refuse-he was apparently interested in exploring the camp. Well, he would need to know more about it if he was to live here for the next unknown amount of time.

Picking up her mouse, Textreader turned around to head back to camp-only to see a tall tortoiseshell cat standing before her. Blinking in surprise, she took a few steps back.

The other cat cleared their throat. "I'm-I'm Cloud of Embers. He/him. I was wondering if you know of somewhere I can go?"

Textreader grinned. "I do, actually! I'm Textreader, she/her, Leader of RisingClan. Would you like to join my clan?"

Cloud of Embers seemed to be struck by shock. He stood still for ten full seconds. "Another clan? Out here?" He asked slowly. "I...I guess I can...?"

Textreader nodded, flicking her tail for him to follow.

She then found herself face to face with a shorter, stocky lynx point cat.

"A Clan, huh?" The newcomer asked lightly. "Count me in. I need somewhere to stay as well. And, well, I'm good with herbs."

"That would be good. A Clan needs a Medicine Cat." Cloud of Embers agreed. Textreader held back a smile. These two are hitting it off!

"Sure, that works. What's your name?" She asked the lynx point.

"Oh-I'm Ash. He/him, they/them, or she/her." They responded cheerfully. "Now lead the way!"

Textreader found herself returning to camp with two other cats trotting along behind her, almost scaring Shane out of his mind when he realised how many cats there were now.

"You guys. Want me. To give you Warrior names." Textreader confirmed slowly.

The other three gave murmurs of yes, eyes on their Leader. Even Shane's blind eyes were focused on where her voice was.

Textreader sighed. "How about this? Each of you pick two books from the library, and I name you with the title." She suggested, making the rule up on the spot. "I'll call you after 5 minutes and you must be back by then."

"Unfair advantage." Shane deadpanned. He couldn't see the books.

"Sorry, Shane, but I have no other ideas." Textreader replied. Leading the way, she guided the group to the entrance of the library and let them off.

5 minutes later and all three were back. Textreader checked their books one by one. "Don't Blink and Everblaze for Cloud of Embers." She read out loud. "Peter Pan and Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse for Ash. The Boy In Striped Pyjamas and Robin Hood for Shane." She leaned back and thought for a moment before nodding.

"Cloud of Embers, your new name is Blinkblaze." She pronounced. "Ash, your new name is Pancurse. And Shane, you're now Stripedhood."

"Wow, what an amazing name." Pancurse deadpanned, and everyone burst into mewling giggles. Their senses of humour went together surprisingly well.

After that, roles were assigned. Stripedhood expressed strongly that he wanted to be a Warrior despite his blindness, so a Warrior he was. Blinkblaze became a Warrior too. Pancurse, with their talent with herbs, became the Medicine Cat.

That night, the four spent their time reading in the empty library and had a nice chat over books, like a literature club. Stripedhood couldn't read on his own, but the other three helped out-Blinkblaze taking the spot most of the time.

Later on, Pancurse would try to find herbs, while Textreader, Blinkblaze, and Stripedhood went hunting/scavenging and checking out the area. Stripedhood especially needed to be familiar with the surroundings because he liked navigating using muscle memory.

Cloud of Embers join RisingClan as a Warrior and becomes Blinkblaze.
Ash joins RisingClan as a Medicine Cat and becomes Pancurse.
Shane joins RisingClan as a Warrior and becomes Stripedhood.

Now that the Gathering is over, the four regrouped and went back to camp. They reviewed what had happened there and were immediately stunned.

"Oh, by the books." Pancurse muttered, already trying their best to use a less severe curse. "We'll be overrun by kits in a few Moons and I barely have any herbs. You guys couldn't have waited until later?"

"I didn't know Textreader was trying for kits as well!" Stripedhood exclaimed, injured.

"I didn't know about you either." Textreader stated plainly. "Why'd you do that anyways? I figured it was an easier way to populate the clan, but why would you do that?"

Stripedhood went silent.

"Oh." Pancurse said dryly. "He's in love with Blinkblaze but knows Blinkblaze's infertile, so he took it upon himself."

Silence was Stripedhood's response, but his form was trembling.

"Guys." Blinkblaze said out loud suddenly, causing Pancurse and Textreader to quieten down. He gently placed a tail on Stripedhood's shoulder, and they left camp together. Textreader and Pancurse exchanged glances and agreed to not chase them.

Stripedhood began cursing rapidly as he ran, and Blinkblaze kept up as best he could, using his tail to stop Stripedhood from running into a wall-though Stripedhood was already fairly good at it despite being blind.

All of a sudden, Blinkblaze spotted a number of cats gazing at them. They didn't even realise it, but they were at the border of the city already, and a group of worn Rogues-or at least Blinkblaze guessed they were Rogues-stared at them.

The wind turned, and Stripedhood stopped immediately. "Who the hell are you?!" He exclaimed, picking up on the scent.

"We should be asking, what kind of an ass are you?" The opposing cat who stood at the front snapped back. They appeared to be the leader of the group.

"Hold up, hold up!" Blinkblaze exclaimed, causing both sides to pause. "Uh-you must be exhausted, right? It must have been a long journey to get here. Why don't you stay with our clan for a little while? RisingClan is, after all, in need of more Warriors. My friend here, Stripedhood, was just a bit cranky from an argument that happened earlier." He pushed a smile onto his face. "I'm Blinkblaze!"

The other cats gave him various dubious looks before the one in front spoke again. "Foxfang. These are Emberstorm, Appleblaze, Tigerkit, Crowkit, and Specklekit. We hail from AcornClan, which had recently disbanded." They explained, gesturing with their tail. "I suppose we do need somewhere to stay, so sure-at least for now."

Blinkblaze ans Stripedhood lead the way back, Stripedhood hissing at Foxfang as they went. Blinkblaze sensed that they didn't really like one another.

Meanwhile back at camp, Textreader and Pancurse were dealing with their own phenomenon. A young cat of perhaps 8 or so Moons had made her way into the camp, where she was promptly given the invitation to join and accepted it. She introduced herself as Lake, but expressed interest in changing her name.

When Blinkblaze and Stripedhood arrived soon after with the army, Textreader stared with an open mouth. She agreed to letting the AcornClan Warriors stay, but didn't want to rename them yet. With the number of cats arriving, she wanted to leave it to a later date in case more cats were to join.

That turned out to be a good decision when a mysterious egg turned up on Easter Sunday. A confused bump from Stripedhood made the egg crack, revealing a tiny kitten-and causing major confusion because kittens don't hatch from eggs! However, they had seen it with their own eyes. Emberstorm volunteered to take up the nursing of this kit as well.

Textreader and Blinkblaze decided to take a walk afterwards to take a break from the much more noisy and chaotic clan. Leaving the impulsive duo with the newcomers may not have been the best idea in hindsight, though then again, hindsight is 20/20. This would also be Textreader's last freedom for a while as she must retire to the Nursery soon to care for her kits.

This was a fruitful journey as well, as the duo met a weird-coloured cat with peculiar eyes who called himself Ram and agreed to join the clan when invited. Really, Textreader was starting to second-guess the need for her kits.

As the last week of the month approached, the long-awaited renaming ceremony was finally held. The entire clan picked their way through the library in the dead of night, picking out books as they went.

Eventually, everyone returned with new names. Foxfang was now Listfall, a name which he remarked was not as cool and more gloomy than scary. Emberstorm became Diarystone, which she found ironic considering how different and more passive it was compared to her original. Appleblaze became Oracleaim, and she apprarently liked the name. Tigerkit was Secretkit, and apparently he disliked Crowkit's sharing his book more than he disliked the name. Crowkit was Chamberkit. Specklekit became Orderkit. The newest kitten was named Easterkit. Lake was given the name Keeperpaw. And finally, the weird-eyed cat became Ramsnap.

The names were varied, and honestly didn't do as good a job reflecting the personalities as normal Warrior names, but this was the fun of the randomness of books.

Afterwards, Oracleaim was also appointed officially as Keeperpaw's Mentor.

Foxfang joins as a Warrior and becomes Listfall.
Appleblaze joins as a Warrior and becomes Oracleaim.

Murk joins as an Elder and becomes Dramadove.
Serena joins as a Warrior and becomes Fantasyfish.

Patrols: (4 patrols, 6 cats per)
Fantasyfish, Oracleaim, Ramsnap, and Listfall hunt.
Blinkblaze and Stripedhood patrol.
Pancurse search for herbs.

Kitting:
1 Moon until Textreader's kitting! (Father: Prince the Stud)
1 Moon until Słońce delivers her kits to Stripedhood!

Training:
Oracleaim and Keeperpaw train in Fighting.

Assessments:
None

Cat Shelter Visit:
None

Prey consumed: (4 servings)
The clan consumed x2 Mouse and x1 Small Fish.

Mod notes:
Diarystone continues looking after the Kits.

Pancurse goes in place of Textreader to look for more members! (looking for an AFAB cat!)
