Where did your pride's name come from? 50 words, 50 exp
The name Ndege Pride is pronounced Nay-gay Pride and is Swahili for Bird Pride. The first part, Bird, is because they are the lions most connected to the birds, skies, and wind. They relish the feeling of the wind in their manes as they run across the ground or leap from place to place. They are swift and graceful, but full of a beautiful predatory instinct that makes them quite like birds. Ndege is Swahili because the plateau is alongside a Swahili village on the East side. That is why GoldenShiningSun named her pride Ndege Pride.

Breeding Prompt #1

GoldenShiningSun was walking through the fields atop Ndege Plateau when she saw a burst of golden light up ahead. Confused, she raced ahead towards it with her beautiful golden mane flowing. What she saw made her gasp softly.

A handsome golden lion was lying in the grass. Whoa. And she thought she was gold colored. This lion literally radiated golden light. He had a big, luxurious mane, huge horns, and tiny wings. Quickly, she walked over to his neck and felt his pulse with her paw.

He looked like he hadn't slept for weeks and was skinny. The bags under his eyes were to heavy to ignore. What could she do to get him help? She couldn't drag him to the Raven and Night Birds, he was way too big. And she didn't want to leave his side to go back, for fear something might happen to him.

So she watched him and let him sleep. Hopefully some lion would come by and she could send them to get help.

After about an hour, the sleeping lion woke up panicked. He flailed around for a second before his eyes landed on GoldenShiningSun.

"Uh." The lion looked startled, but then shook his head and cleared his throat. "Uh, who, who are you?"

GoldenShiningSun smiled at him softly. She nudged him to help him stand.

"I'm glad you're finally awake," she said gently. "I'm GoldenShiningSun and Pathfinder of the Ndege Pride."

"Ndege Pride?" He finally was standing up now and turned his head towards the sky. Then he started yelling at it. "Why did you bring me here father? What must I find?"

GoldenShiningSun stared at him. Who was this lion? Was he mentally okay? She better get some help for him. "Come on, I think you need to come with me."

"Why?"

"Um, I think our pride healers need to check you out, first. You were passed out for quite a while."

Grumpily he allowed himself to be led to the Ndege Pride. Once there, the Raven and Night Birds ushered him to lay down and started to work on healing him. While they worked, GoldenShiningSun asked him several questions about where he was from and who he was.

He answered that he was the Sun Prince and his father sent him down until he found something. But he didn't know what that was.

GoldenShiningSun nodded and left him to rest.

Over the next few days she visited him and fell in love with him. They spent several evenings together on walks or watching the stars and soon they felt a close connection. By now the Sun Prince had healed, but still stayed with the Pride. One day, they went on a walk in the afternoon to bird watch.

GoldenShiningSun walked alongside him with her luxurious mane flowing in the wind. The were in comfortable silence for a bit before the Pathfinder asked him a question that had been on her mind. "So what's next for you?"

The Sun Prince looked at her gently. "Well, I'm not sure. At first, I thought I had to find something that would change my life and it turns out I was right."

"Well, did you find it?"

"Yes. I did." He looked straight at her while she looked back at him. On instinct, GoldenShiningSun grabbed his tail in her mouth while he reached for hers. (This is like kissing in the Ndege Pride.) They stood there for a moment in a completed circle, the sign of love in the Ndege Pride.

They both let go and laid down next to each other, staring in each others eyes. They cuddled for a while and the Sun Prince rested his head on hers.

"I love you GoldenShiningSun."

With that, there was a clash of thunder and the Sun Prince was gone. GoldenShiningSun knew he had fulfilled his search, but she still cried on the imprint he had made in the grass. She would never forget her Prince and his mission and she could only hope she would see him again.

Item Prompt 1-
Use this random image generator to write a story about one of your lions. Link to the image somewhere for reference.
250 word minimum, 1 point

GoldenShiningSun once had a lion visit her Pride from far away, weary and exhausted. He was a greyish color with dull green eyes. His mane was short, like it had been slashed off. She started to interrogate who he was while the Night Birds took care of him.

"Who are you?" GoldenShiningSun asked the lion.

"I'm Grey."

GoldenShiningSun felt like snickering, but it would be rude. Grey? That was his name? How creative.

"Well, Grey its nice to meet you. I'm GoldenShiningSun the Pathfinder of the Ndege Pride. Where are you from?"

The lion got a sudden twinkle in his eye and immediately started describing his home. His Pride was apparently called the Water Cliff Pride and lived in a beautiful area on, you guessed it, a cliff surrounded by water.

He described the mist surrounding the rocks and the always foggy sky. And surrounding everything was water. So much water. GoldenShiningSun did not believe Grey about how much water he described. How could there be room for that much water? It sounded horrible!

He talked about pink sunsets, reflecting on the water. He said there were plump, squishy things to eat instead of anetlope. And
they had to put their paws in the water to get food. The lion described "shells" which apparently were swirling things that sometimes had edible slime inside. Gross!

Grey talked about his Pride where they had no manes, put "shells" on each other and swam! In the giant water! He talked about waves, which were like river bumps in the water except without the rocks. She asked about that, but he just answered "the moon."

All of this sounded either way too good or super horrible to GoldenShiningSun. She ended up having the Night Birds checking him for mental illness before sending him away.

Item Prompt 2

How does your lion feel about humans (or other, sentient species within your character world)? How do they interact with them? Are they scared of them or curious? What if one attempted to trap them? Would they hold one negative interaction against all of them? 500 word minimum, 2 points
--------

WanderingWhisper has very mixed feelings about humans or trappers, as the Ndege calls them. They raised her and she adored the small cubs, yet everyone in Ndege dislikes them. To most they are considered annoying and even dangerous, but WanderingWhisper feels that they can also be caring and creative. Here special cape, after all, she got from a human cub. But then again, she was trapped and stared at for years. She was taken care of, but she wasn't free. She doesn't know how to feel about those ones, but she feels not all trappers were like that.

She thinks that trappers are very cute and adorable, with their little paws and fur coats. She mostly like the ones with long manes, because everyone knows long manes are a sign of power. She dreams of having a pet trapper one day so she can cuddle it and study it. She is fascinated by them and wants to know everything about them. Sometimes, she watches them for a long time and gets in trouble. She knows it is weird among the Ndege to like trappers, but she can't help it. She knows the stories about them trapping lions and that's how they got their name, but she believes that not all of them are like that.

She likes staring at their creative inventions too. Their little fur-less paws seemed to be able to do anything! Her favorite trapper invention is fire-meat. That's what she calls it. Sometimes the trappers hunt and then they burn it in fire. At first she thought that was gross, but snuck some when she was younger and fell in love with this new way of eating. She likes their little stick-caves too.

WanderingWhisper once thought about what it would be like if she met the trapper from whom she got her cape. Here is her imagining (in which the trapper can talk and understand WanderingWhisper):

WanderingWhisper randomly comes across the trapper from whom she got her cape and automatically knows it is the same trapper.

"Hey! That is my cape!" Says the trapper. "Wow, it looks good on you. I'm glad you have instead of me."

"Oh thank you," she responds. "I found it the day all the animals escaped and I knew it would look great on me. I also knew you would want me to have it."

"Oh of course! You look like the most powerful lion ever with it on!" The trapper then bows to WanderingWhisper's awesomeness.

"I like you smol trapper. May I keep you as a pet? I will love and take care of you and show you to all my friends!"

"Sure, I would love that! what is your name by the way?"

"WanderingWhisper. What is yours?"

"Some weird thing that is impossible to pronounce. I'm glad we will be best friends!"

"I'm glad I will be able to show my friends that trappers aren't bad! Also, can i study you? You are a very interesting creature."

"Sure!"

And the trapper got on WanderingWhisper's back and together they rode off, the best of friends

Art least, that's how it went it her mind. She dreamed this every night and hoped it might come true. The only problem: Trappers probably weren't smart enough to be able to speak.

ITEM PROMPT 3
What kind of sleeper is your lion? What position do they sleep in? How do they usually wake up? Are they a heavy or light sleeper? When do they usually sleep?
250 word minimum, 1 point
------------------------
GoldenShiningSun is a hardcore, straight sleeper. Once she gets into her position, she stay that way the whole night and doesn't move. It takes a lot to wake her up, which can sometimes be a problem when there is an emergency. She always curls up in her Indentation and falls asleep like that. Her mane is always off to the side on her back and her tail and nose curl into her legs. When she wakes up, her mane is crazy and extremely fluffy, while her tail is sleeked out.

She loves to cuddle with lions, animals, and random trinkets she finds. They comfort her and when she has cubs, she would love to have them sleep with her. She loves gripping onto one of these things and doesn't let go. She usually cuddles soft or alive things, but not always. It is always unpredictable whay she may grab and once she has it she will not let go. Even if it is alive.

She can sleep at almost any time if she is tired enough and in any place. If she is taking a nap it is easy to wake her up, but at night, she is as stiff as the dead. If she is out exploring and is only near rock, then she will curl up and fall asleep, no matter how uncomfortable. GoldenShiningSun is a hardcore sleeper, but that is usually because she is always working so hard during the day. When she is sleeping, she is absorbing rest and should not be disturbed.

What sort of climate does your pride’s territory have? Do they have well defined seasons? Dry seasons? Rainy seasons? 150 words, 100 exp
On the Ndege Plateau there are 3 seasons which are called Warm Wind, Cool Wind, and Rain Wind. During Warm Wind, the weather is almost unbearably hot and dry and the wind offers little comfort. This is the Pride's worst season as it can sometimes dry up the brook on the Plateau. This means, during Warm Wind, they have to travel down the Plateau for prey and water. Cool Wind is when the weather is hot, but the wind breezes by often and is cool and refreshing. This is always every lion's favorite season as it is best for hunting when the prey comes for water at their brook. Rain Wind is when it is the most rainy. Usually it only rains at night, but during Rain Wind it can happen during the day. This is best for hunting prey that could be wandering around the grass because they won't need as much water as frequently. Most lions dislike Rain Wind, however, because they hate getting their manes wet.

What are the Pride's biggest threats? 200 words, 150 exp
(These do not include threats in weather, area, or plants.) The Pride has several threats, but most of them are only dangerous to hatchlings or Old Ones.

For the whole Pride: There are three main threats for the Pride as a whole, the Stone Clan, neighboring lion prides, and humans. The Stone Clan is a clan of ruthless hyenas who love to single out lions, even full grown ones and kill them with sheer numbers. Ever heard the phrase "kill two birds with one stone"? That is their motto and they live to steal and slaughter Ndege Pride. In a full on battle, however the Pride almost always wins. The second threat are neighboring lion prides who can be friendly or engage in battle. Usually they are friendly, but rarely a huge battle can occur. The last threat are humans. Nearby, there is a small Swahili village and sometimes people set up traps to kill or capture lions. Some lions can get run over by vehicles, killed if they get too close, or accidentally eat something poisonous. Sometimes Elephants can be a threat when one strays close to camp or avenges a babies death.

For Hatchlings and Old Ones: There can be many threats for the young and old population along with the ones for the whole Pride. Large birds can snatch them away and since the Pride cannot harm birds, there is nothing they can do about it. They can be trampled by herds of antelope or zebra, squashed or swung by elephants, and hippos and buffalo will often fight them. There are plenty of other threats, but these are the worst ones.

How does your pride regard the dead/their ancestors? Do they watch over them, are they angry spirits, or gone forever? 150 words, 100 exp
The Ndege Pride believes that their ancestors and dead are reincarnated as birds. They believe that the birds watch over them, give omens, and are the servants of Griffin. They deliver messages and follow her will and every bird was once a servant of Griffin. Depending on their personality, the dead can be any kind of bird. From sparrows to eagles, each one has lived a life in servitude to Griffin. Anything any bird does will be considered an omen or sign and every time a lion reports behavior from a bird, it is the Raven and Night Bird's job to decipher what it means. If a bird is killed, it will just be reincarnated into another. No servant of Griffin ever fades. But if you do not follow Griffin, they believe your soul is lost forever.

What is your founder’s greatest regret?
150 word minimum, 100 points

GoldenShiningSun's greatest regret is when she left her sister by herself in the Mbwa Pride. Her sister, Dangja (NPC) had lived with her together in the Mbwa Pride and they had always stuck together and were best friends. Together, they had discovered Janyu's evil plots and together lead the Pride to stop him. They defeated Janyu and started to think about their future. GoldenShiningSun decided to leave and follow her destiny, becoming a Pathfinder of a completely different Pride, one that she would establish. Dangja, however decided to stay, become leader of the Mbwa Pride, and lead them out of this dark stage. With a tearful goodbye, the lionesses parted ways. Dangja had said she would be fine and would try to lead their Pride into a better future. GoldenShiningSun trusts her sister, but she still felt guilty for leaving her. She feels she should have stayed and helped Dangja, and rebuilt their broken Pride. But instead she left to establish Ndege Pride.

Her biggest regret is not establishing Ndege, but leaving her sister by herself.
