xxxxxxthe shadowed kingdom worships a group of eight gods and goddesses.

the emporer, also known as thenrus, is the commander of death and power. he is the alpha of all gods, favored and worshiped above them all. he is seen as an overarching king, father figure, awesome and terrifying in his power. he is not actually seen by the lord - a black lion is usually there in his place - but he is presumed to be a black maine coon with vibrant yellow eyes. at each cat's death, if they are worthy and have remained loyal to the lord, he will lead them to join the blackguard.

the emissary, also known as sovtia, is the god of judgement, strategy, the court and political cunning. he is seen as a ginger abyssnian tom with sharp green eyes. sovtia is said to be the younger sibling of thenrus, and the consort of astralia. he is also the god of the forest and foreigners, and it is he who leads those guided by the gods to the kingdom itself.

the maiden, also known as chairnor, is the youngest of the gods. (probably about the age of a young warrior give or take a few moons.) while she has the tendency to be overlooked, young apprentices and newly minted warriors tend to pray to her. she is the goddess of assigned mateship, blood purity, and success. a white swan will usually greet her in the goddesses place, but sometimes if she is seen, she is a young snowy-bengal fae with pale jade green eyes. she is the consort of sovtia (the two are similar in age believe it or not.)

the war general, also known as ketsiah, is the warbringer. he is the general of tactical fighting & murderous fight moves & nobility. he is about thenrus's age and presumed to be thenrus's right hand. he is responsible for determining with the emperor whether or not a cat deserves to go join the blackguard in the sky. when the shadowed kingdom goes to fight or to wage a war (with anyone) the clan preys to the war general for strength. he is seen as a black tabby maine coon with cold golden eyes and scars under his long pelt.

blackstar (then named scorchkit) was born in a wealthy, upper-class family in the northern kingdom, he was the firstborn child, with two younger brothers cinderkit and skykit. even though the triplets were born together as family, their personalities were nothing alike. the only similarities that could be seen were between skykit and scorchkit; they had the same ambitious and politically aggressive nature. when they became apprentices, scorchpaw was sent to study as a cadet under the winterguard seedfire. at first, the mentor and apprentice's relationship was rocky, as both were highly confrontational and prone to snap. the only relief was that their mentors were good companions to each other, and as such the triplets were allowed to train together often. however fate had other plans for the family, and it came in the form of a notorious group of rogues called the wildlings, led by a former soldier of the winter court called blackscar. cinderpaw, seedfire, were killed and when rockshadow and skypaw went back for help, seedfire and scorchpaw were kidnapped. blackscar intended to raise scorchpaw to be his heir, and seedfire was disabled when he tried to resist. scorchpaw, now under the auspices of the leader's mate vevila, trained to be a killer for twenty-moons. during this time in the clan. scorchpaw changed his name to hawkeye. from then on, hawkeye joined the rogues as they slowly destroyed the winter court. hawkeye's final test came when he was to kill the high lord - his former high lord swiftstar. hawkeye challenged the lord for his throne. he won the trial - barely - and took the mantle of high lord. while most of the cats fled, and hawkeye - renamed to blackstar by shieon - reigned as the high lord of the shadowed kingdom
