day 3 (oops)

Darcy's eyes focused on a shimmer in the nearest corner of the paddock, it's reflection could be seen from where he stood under the trees despite the fact that the young stallion was, for the most part, completely blind. Despite his lack of visual ability, he could still make out shadows and light, and of course, shapes. Usually the stallion was accompanied by a little gelding, a guide that would help him move around the paddock but today his friend was gone and he had to find his own way around, if he wanted to ease his curiosity. Most of the time when his buddy was away, Darcy would be put in the round pen or his stall but for some reason today he had been left out in the field. Not that he was complaining, the warm sun shone on his back comfortably in pockets that weren't covered by the shade of the large willow tree that he rested beneath. When he wasn't picking at the grass or the small patches of clover, the stallion tried to make sense of the reflected light. Perhaps it was coming from the water trough but despite being blind, the stallion knew that the trough was at the other side of the field.

Slowly, the small stallion left the shelter of the willow and began to approach the shining light source, placing one hoof in front of the other as his overwhelming caution forced his body to slow to what was almost a dawdle as he approached the shimmer. Darcy stretched his nose out towards the ground, inhaling deeply and exhaling with increased force causing his little shimmer to jingle. His ears flicked forward with interest as he stretched his nose down further to touch it, causing the reflective object to chime in again. This time, the stallion nickered with delight and grabbed at the shine with his lips, pulling back at the cold touch before shaking his head and going back to grab at the metal cylinder. Quickly, the stallion jerked his head up, causing the wind chime to jingle loudly before he tossed it over his head, launching sideways as he kicked his legs out in fear. This fear was quickly overcome when he noticed the reflected light once again, and slowly did he approach with his nose low to the ground until he felt the cold metal pressing against the sensitive skin on his nose. Once again, the frame overo picked at the wind chime with his lips, finding the thin piece of bailing twine it was attached to before lifting his head gently this time as if not to frighten himself.

Holding the twine gently in his mouth, Darcy slowly made his way back towards the shade of the willow tree. He used the familiar scents to find his way back, the strong smell of clover mixed with the willow tree leaves indicated to him that this was where he ought to be. Gently, the roan rested onto his front legs before carefully laying himself down and resting the little wind chime on the ground in front of him, pushing it with his nose in order to make the jingle he liked so much. Slowly, the stallion played with it more and more until he drifted off to sleep under the shade of the large willow tree.

prompt Write about one of your tolters' crush or mate.

It was late on a particularly stormy night the first time that Sin laid eyes on the dunskin mare. She had been one of the last to have been pulled in from the field as the rain turned into hail; her coat drenched in a mixture of sweat, rain and mud, and her eyes were wide with fear but Sin still felt that little ting in his heart the moment he saw her. At this point in time, he was relatively new to the stables and had only been turned out in the field closest to the barn, so that the humans could keep an eye on him, and he hadn't had the chance to explore his new home outside of the barn and said field. If he was being honest, he would admit that he thought that he and the four or five other tolters he had met were th century only equines here, but judging by the amount of new faces in the surrounding stalls it appeared that he was very wrong about that.

Despite his love of that familiar sound, the sound of rain beating down in the roof above, Sin found that he could not force his body to drift off to sleep. But instead, the stallion couldn't help but think about that beautiful dunskin mare. Who was she? He asked himself as he approached the front of his stall and rested him head over the gate. Perhaps she was new, just like him and that could be why he had never seen her before. Or maybe she was born and raised here but was kept on the other side of the world compared to where he was. Frustrated, the tired horse stomped his hoof and turned back around to face the back wall of his lonely stall. He had so many questions but nobody to answer them. Well, there was one who could but Sin wasn't going to talk to her any time soon. No, that was a scary idea.

Before he knew it, Sin was squinting tired eyes away from the light of the morning. At some point, he had drifted off to sleep and now, was met with great confusion about who he had seen the night before. Had it all been such a dream? he pondered, rattling his head for confirmation that it wasn't just in his head. Before he could come to a conclusion, Sin noticed his handler walking towards him with a halter and lead rope, it appeared taut he was going out into the field. Perhaps he could see the mare out there, or maybe.... no. Sin shook his head in an attempt to make the idea disappear. Despite his name, the stallion was in fact quite the sweet heart and never wished to potent to harm his person. So instead of taking the escape when he could, his chance to find the dunskin mare, the young stallion greeted his handler like usual and allowed the halter to be secured apon his grand head. Gently, Sin walked with the human to the field as he wondered about the little dunskin and if he had formed a crush on a ghost horse.
