Story

Postby Thebattleangel » Sun Aug 05, 2018 5:42 pm

My mother had told me that I was born from a type of mineral she had found. A strange story to tell a young viscling, but what she also told me is that I was born under a blood moon; the most magical moons of all. Though I did not believe her, I was naive in that way, what happened when I had turned five proved me wrong, very wrong.

There was a heavy knock at our front door, which grew inpatient by the minute, “Ataahua, stay here, I’ll go answer it,” which I did not know that was the last words I would hear from my mother. I was playing with my toys when I heard a shriek of pain coming from the front door followed by gasping breaths.

A viscet with eyes as yellow as corn, a coat as creamy as caramel along with a spiked collar around their neck with red liquid on their paws approached me, “Come with us,” they said in a stern tone,
I began to shake relentlessly, “What do you want with me… Where’s my mother?...,”
Another viscet came into the living room, they had a rainbow pattern and wore a bandana over their muzzle as well as a leather jacket over their torso, a sack was in the tight grip of their paw, “Child, your mother has left you, we are here to look after you,” the rainbow viscet grew impatient,
“I don't believe you she-,”
The flick of two paws silenced us, “Arco, now,”
Arco’s grip on the sack got tighter, I shrieked as the lights went out.

The roar of an engine filled my ears as I blinked my eyes repeatedly, the murmurs of the two viscets in the front are the only civilization near,
“Tau, what are we going to do with the kid?” Arco asked between the crinkles of a package,
“That does not matter right now, idiot, we just need to take her home and continue our experiment,”
Experiment? what experiment? the ride was silent from then on, the sack covering my head made it steadily harder to breathe.

The truck halted with a screech of brake pads, the smell of smoke filled my nose
“Damn it,” Tau said in a frustrated tone, “Arco, get the mutt and put her in her cell,”
I hear footsteps approach me, a warm paw gently placed on my shoulder put me at ease for a moment as the sack was pulled off of my head, the sun nearly blinding my eyes, Arco’s paw tighten around my wrist as he dragged me toward a building that looked to be abandoned, “Let me go!,” I screamed in fear,
Arco tightened his grip on my wrist sending a stabbing pain through my body, as much as I was desperate to scream in agony I bit my tongue, Arco meant business.

The building's windows were boarded up, there is no other houses for miles, there is no way I can escape them.

What are they doing with me? what do they want from me?

Arco swung the doors open, the doors creaked as he did so, the house very airy it smells heavily of dust, he tugged me once more so I couldn’t look anymore, as we walked to the stairs that looked to go to the basement there was an egg incubator that held an egg with pink as well as brown spots, That must be the experiment I thought to myself.

My captor dragged me down the basement stairs, the shuffle of our paws echoed as we moved. The first cell we came across Arco unlocked, “Get in there runt,” he let go of my paw with a grunt,
I walked into the cell as I was instructed, it was locked behind me, I saw a smidge of remorse in his eyes like he didn’t want to put me in here but he had to, I look around my cell that would soon turn into my home for many years. A bed made of hay on one side of the room, a bucket on the other nothing could be plainer, I ran my paws over the cell wall, the stone is cold to the touch, no way out, I mutter to myself.

The floorboards above me creaked, “Arco, we have finally done it!, our experiment is going as planned!, we have successfully mixed Clara and Jonathan's DNA together to make the perfect evil minion, now all we need is that brats power!”
I placed my paw over my mouth as I was about to scream, they want my power?,
“Indeed Tau, how do you suppose we get the power from her?” he replied in a devilish tone,
I walked over to the bed and lay down,
“We have to take it under the blood moon, we have to do it tonight.”

The light disappeared from my window slowly, it’s night, I rose up from my uncomfortable bed to hear footsteps behind me I turn around to see Tau,
“Come on kid, time to eat,” she said with an evil smirk, she unlocked the cell with a click,
I was not falling for her lies, I knew what was about to happen, I walked to the beginning of the stairs with her following close behind me, making sure I didn't make a break for it.

The front door to the house was still opened, in the darkness, I could see Arco’s rainbow coat swaying in the night breeze, the moon slowly rose but it was an obscure colour red.
Arco stood behind a chair with rope by his side, “Come here,” he motioned,
I sat down in the chair as rope was wrapped around me someone help me, please the only thing I could think as the moon perched high in the sky a beam of light came right toward me, I screamed in agony as my cranium began to throb help!, my body began to go numb as a needle was placed deep into my shoulder.

I opened my eyes as the beam stopped consuming my body, the blood moon went from red to its usual silver, my body from strong to weak, I feel like every ounce of soul was drained from me,
“Quick Arco, put the liquid into our experiment!”
He ran into the house,
“And you,” she said with an evil smile, “We no longer need you,” her paw made painful contact with my face as the world went black.

“Quick get Misti damn it!,” a strange voice yelled as I attempted to open my eyes,
“Where am I,” I asked in a haze trying to get a grip on reality,
“I am Primrose and you are safe here young one, do not be afraid,”
I blinked my eyes a few times to see a red, white and caramel brown viscet standing over me, she had a sympathetic, worried smile on her face
“Where are Tau and Arco, are they here?...,”
“How on earth do you-,”
“Primrose I’m here!” another voice called as they came into my view, “Who is this?” the viscet with a coat of grey as well as pink asked,
“I don’t know but I found her abandoned in the forest,” she paused as she lowered her voice, “she says she knows Tau,”
The colour seemed to drain from the other viscets face as he checked my vitals, “what is your name young one?,” he asked as he checked my heart beat,
“Ataahua…,” I replied weakly,
“Hello Ataahua, I am Misti, if you don’t mind me asking, how do you know Tau?”
I stuttered as I attempted to speak, “She stole me from my home… I think she… killed my mother…,” I started crying frantically,
“Primrose, get Drax,”
She nodded and left my view.

----

I woke up the next morning in the same room wasn’t a nightmare at least I feel stronger now,
“Hey, you’re awake,” a strange masculine voice said
The voice frightened me, I frantically looked around the room trying to find the source,
“Hey, hey, it’s ok,” the voice said in a panic,
A viscet with a coat of creamy white with gold details came into my view, the viscet looked around the same age as I,
“Ataahua right?” the young one asked curiously,
I nodded, why are they here?
“I am Bud, or Copper as I would like you to call me,” he smiled, though his smile was friendly I didn’t really trust him,
“Hi copper, may I ask why you are here?”
He looked puzzled by the question, “Oh yeah!, I remember now, I was supposed to escort you to Clara,”
Clara?.

“Ataahua?,” he asked worriedly as he waved his paw in my face,
I blinked a few times, “Huh?”
He tilted his head in confusion,”You zoned out for a bit there,”
“Oh, sorry about that, anyway, aren’t you supposed to be taking me to Clara?,” I asked as I started getting out of bed,
“Oh yeah, follow me!.”

Bud skipped ahead of me as we walked out of the healing part of the pack, the pack is much bigger than I expected, viscets of different colours, with many different markings, were walking around everywhere, it was kind of like a packed mall like I heard one of the viscets that walked past say, though I don’t know what a mall is. We walked through the sleeping quarters, the eating quarters to the door of the den.

“Wait a minute, Bud?,” I asked nervously as I paused in the exit way of the den,
He paused and ran to my side, “Yes Ataahua?”
“Um, why are we leaving the den, shouldn’t Clara be in there?,” I asked in confusion,
“Ah, well, that is a long story,” his voice trailed off, “Let's go!” he said excitedly as he skipped ahead once more,
Why was he ignoring my question?, I thought to myself, I pushed the question out of my mind as I continued to follow him, a light in the distance seemed to be what he was walking towards.

Daytime came to a close, an unpleasant feeling came from my hind leg as the moon rose high in the black sky but I ignored it the best I could.

“Here we are!” Bud yelled excitedly as we approached a lone den surrounded with lilac flowers,
“It looks pretty,” I responded as he knocked on the door,
“Clara, it’s me, Bud,” he said as the door opened revealing a pink, white and blue coated viscet who made eye contact with me instantly,
“Bud, who is this,” she said in a growl like tone noticeably threatened by my presence,
“I’m Ataahua,” I inserted in a reassuring tone “I mean no harm,”
She didn’t twitch, she kept her eyes focused on mine,
“Clara, I was told that she mentioned something about Tau,”
The colour in her face drained as she looked around worriedly, Why is everyone so scared of Tau?, “We must get inside, come, quickly.”

We walked inside her den at her command, the smell of sweet scones filled my nose, it smelt very lovely, it smelt like what my mother would make, I miss her.

“Bud, you can go back home, Ataahua come sit at the table with me,” Clara said as she sat at the kitchen table,
“Maybe I’ll see you later Ataahua,” Bud said as he left, closing the door behind him,
I sat down in the chair across from Clara,
“Ataahua, how do you know Tau?” she asked as the played with her paws, obviously nervous,
“I don’t understand what the big deal about Tau is,” I countered,
“Tau is a very dangerous viscet, a danger to us, we must know what she did to you,” she replied with urgency,
“Well, if you must know, I will tell you,” I responded with a sigh.

“She came into my home along with her partner Arco, my mother answered the door. Tau walked toward me with blood on her paw I presumed that my mother was gone, dead by her hand,” I rubbed my eyes as tears began to fall down my cheek “they kidnapped me and brought me to their lair, an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere, when they escorted me downstairs to the basement I saw an egg incubator with an egg with brown and pink spots inside. Later I found out by overhearing their conversation that the egg was an experiment made of Clara and Jonathan's DNA-,”
“Wait,” Clara said interrupting me “My DNA?” she shivered as the words escaped her mouth,
“I think so - but who’s Jonathan?,” I asked curiously, but regret filled me as I said it,
She stammered as she attempted to explain “He is a new viscet here, the son of Tia, the leader of that pack - they have done it so Drax would think that I have cheated on him…,”
Drax? Didn’t the healer mention him?.

Clara slumped back into her chair,
“Clara, if you don’t mind me asking, who is Drax?”
She bit her tongue while staying silent as she shifted her feet, “He is… my mate, well ex-mate… father to three out of my four children…,”
A knock at the door silenced us both, “Who could that be this late…?,” Clara asked as she approached the door,
My hind leg started to have an agonizing pain shoot through it, I could sense some sort of danger, but what?. The sound of the door creaking filled my ears followed by a scream, I turned around frantically to see her.

I walked toward Tau with no fear, I stood beside Clara, Tau she no longer scared me, “Leave now Tau,”
“I don't think I will young Ataahua, I have a present for good ol’ perfect Clara,” she responded with a sinister smile as she looked Clara dead in the eye while she patted the bag she had by her side,
“Tau, please leave, you can’t be here, Drax banished you…,” her voice trailed off,
“Ah good old Drax, the one you hurt,” she snickered,
“It wasn’t my fault…,” she began to cry frantically as she ran down the hall, leaving Tau and me alone.

Tau began to walk outside of the den with a menacing look, I followed, I did not trust her in the slightest, the pulsating sensation in my hind leg did not cease, it only grew stronger as the two of us stood alone.

“Tau, leave this place,” I said in a snarl,
“I think not young one, do you really think a little brat like you can defeat someone as strong as me!?,” she laughed menacingly as she tried to throw a punch,
I dodged the punch in a mere second, how did I do that?, I looked up at the moon as it began to go from silver to red as it did so an overwhelming feeling began to take over my body, I could feel something cover my body, something change in my eyes, something making me stronger.

I charged toward Tau at the speed of light, the substance around my body allowing me to escape unscathed but harming her greatly from the impact of my charge, burying us both deep into the soft earth, “Tau, I said it once and I will say it again, leave, ran far away and never return because as long as i'm here this domain will remain under my protection,”
“Fine, but I will be back, I will always come back,” she said as I raised us both back to the earth above us, she ran as soon as I dropped her, dropping whatever she was carrying in her bag, the egg.

I looked at the moon once more, my shield substance disappeared as well as the color in the moon, except a small beam of red that illuminated the egg. It just laid there making a permanent flat grass spot, should I pick it up? I thought in my head, I walked toward it, it contained a small helpless child that, like me, will always have to be on the run. We both possess a power given to us by the moon, now I know that what my mother was saying is true, I owe everything to the moon. Now I must protect this child with everything I have, I will teach it the true abilities of what it possesses and most of all how to thank the moon.
