the first life | pride

Postby petrify » Thu Jun 28, 2018 11:34 pm

in your first life, and all the other ones, your name was maximus. in this life, your first breath of air was 1622, in rome, italy. you were born to antonio ricci and martina bianchi. you had a brother name giovanni, who was a year older than you, and a sister name francesca, who was two years younger than you. you were born into a very rich family, your father was a renowned artist who was truly gifted with skill. he even helped shape the baroque style of art, and even the architecture. he was close to francesco borromini, who was one of the main people working to shape the architecture. yes, your sister was named after this man; your father and him were very close. your mother was really just a stay-at-home mom, who took care of your siblings and you while your father brought home the money. she was fine with this, and preferred it. as you grew older, while your siblings were humble and helped others the best they could, what did you do? boast about all the accomplishments your father had done, even though you didn't help in the slightest. it was okay to be proud of who you were, and who your family was, but there comes a time when you have to stop and think; do people really care that much, honestly? but did you do that? no. you continued on, embarrassing your family with how much you talked about how "great" you were, and the like. remember when your father told you in 1643, when it was nearing your sister's birthday, to knock it off? that she was tired of people coming up to her, snickering as they called you a fool? asking her if she was embarrassed of you? (to which she replied "yes, of course i am") your father telling you that her only wish was for you to stop being such a prideful jerk? of course you remember, how could you forget? because it was near this time when your first life came to an end. on your sister's birthday, you had gotten her a gift, and on your way to your family home, you felt something cold go through you. suddenly, you're gasping for breath, and you're on the ground. you had been killed. stabbed. left to bleed out on the ground. some people there in rome didn't take too kindly of your boasting, when some of them had nothing to show for.

the second life | envy

Postby petrify » Thu Jun 28, 2018 11:49 pm

in this life, you were not so fortunate. maybe if you hadn't been so prideful in your previous life, this wouldn't be happening to you. you took your second breath of air 1749, and you remained in italy. you were born to a single mother, and you were an only child. who was your father, you ask? that's funny, like you deserve to know, maximus. maybe one day you'll figure it out, but for now, we're talking about you. your mother's name was giada esposito, and she was a beggar, who could barely afford to take care of herself, let alone you. most nights you were hungry and slept on the cold concrete. many fortunate people would walk past your mother and laugh at her, while you clung to her arm and tried desperately to block out their laughs. while your mother remained unfazed and hopeful, you did not. you were pessimistic and looked at the bad side of everything. you began to grow envious when you heard of count vittorio alfieri; who was born the same year as you and was very successful. he was named "founder of italian tragedy" for his poetry and plays. do you remember ripping off the papers plastered on walls throughout the city which portrayed his characters and advertisements to his plays? do you remember wishing that you could go back in time and write those plays yourself? do you remember thinking he simply didn't deserve his fame and fortune, simply because he wasn't you? even though he worked for it? yes, i'm sure you do, because you spent many nights thinking that while your mother continued to beg on the streets to support your grown self. instead of trying to better yourself, you envied over vittorio. ah, and your last night alive. you had walked fairly far to one of his showings of his plays, where he was suppose to be. you were going to try to "humiliate" the man in someway or form, although people would just think of you as a crazy man instead of someone with rational thought. but, you didn't get to do that, did you? just like in your previous life, you were stabbed and left to die. why were you stabbed, you might ask? hmm... it seemed to be a random killing. oh, how unfortunate.

the third life | gluttony

Postby petrify » Fri Jun 29, 2018 12:05 am

your third life came to you much quicker than your second. you were born once again in 1794, this time in france. your father's name was gabin pelletier and your mother was jeann martin. you had one brother, who was actually your twin, and his name was enzo. you lived in an upper-middle class family, and you were taken care of well. you remained with your parents, even when you were an adult, and enzo went off to bigger and better things. he even became a writer and did pretty well for himself. to your knowledge, he never married and had no kids, and you often wondered why. surprise, maximus, men were into other men even back then. but you didn't visit him enough to know that, and it wasn't like he was going to tell you anyway. even if you guys were twins, you were never close. well, enough about your brother, let's get back to you. since you never got a job and never did anything, all you ever really did was eat. eat whatever you could, whenever you saw it. your parents gave you disapproving looks as you ate past what you were suppose to normally eat, but you continued. you soon grew addicted to the food, and when your parents showed concern, you looked the other way and ignored them. when you were just twenty-three, you died. you want to know why and how? one day you were coming back to your home when you smelled some freshly made bread. curious as to where the scent was coming from, you followed it best you could to a bakery. and you know what you proceeded to do? go in and eat the bread. you didn't even steal it and take off with it! you sat there, and you ate almost all of it until the baker came back, obviously furious. so furious, even, that he killed you. over bread. you died over bread. maximus... i have nothing to say.

the fourth life | lust

Postby petrify » Fri Jun 29, 2018 12:22 am

your fourth life came to you 1820, only three years after your third death. wow, these lives came at you fast, didn't they? you were born in great britain, your father being abbott enfield and your mother being isolda addington. you had three sisters, all which were younger than you; jocelyn, luella and alvina. you lived in a more poor home, but you made it by with everything you needed. you left home at sixteen, having a nice job and being able to provide for yourself. you visited your family often, your little sisters always glad to see you come back home. they absolutely loved you! you were actually a decent human being in this life, maximus!... but not for long. once you got a girlfriend, who's name was carol, at the ripe age of seventeen, the two of you settled down immediately! when you were eighteen, you two had your first child together. her name was amelia enfield, and she was your life, and so was carol. only a few months into thinking that the two of them were your life, you began to feel more and more distant. among the course of the next two years, you cheated hundreds, if not thousands of times on carol. you got into an argument with her, which caused amelia to cry, and you didn't even feel anything. you left. you left your wife and child to be with other women. i mean, maximus, i know you were young, but at least be a decent human being, yeah? who am i kidding, you never were, considering you had seven times to live and decided not to use those lives to its full potential. a month after you had left, to no surprise, you were killed once again! by an angry husband to a woman who found out that she was cheating on him. he came to your house, you opened the door, and you were shot dead. you really didn't know what hit you. you died at the ripe age of twenty.

the fifth life | anger

Postby petrify » Fri Jun 29, 2018 12:36 am

for your fifth life, you were born in 1842, two years after your last death, in japan. you were born to a father by the name of haruto akiyama and a mother who was named aoi furutani. you had one sister by the name of ichika, who was two years older than you. huh, while you were dying in your previous life... your sister was being born. truly strange... anyway. you grew up in a pretty okay family, although your father was very strict on you and your sister. your mother was more caring and lenient, so you loved her with all of your heart. you stayed with them for a year after you turned eighteen, and then you moved out, taking your now twenty-one year old sister with you. she had no desire to marry a man, and even let you know that she was completely not interested in men at all. she had a secret female lover, and you were okay with that, and housed both of them. if your sister was happy, then so were you. it was at this time that you were wondering about your own sexuality, but you tried not to think about it. you got a job and supported your little family, and you were happy. until people from the united states began coming to your country. it made everyone feel uneasy, even if nothing was said. but slowly, an anger rose in you. why couldn't they just leave your country alone? why couldn't they just leave you guys isolated? it was in that moment that you got the taste for blood. you wanted to see your hands drenched in blood, you wanted to release your anger on these... americans. you soon joined a furious young samurai, with a lot of other angry people, and you guys attacked several american ships, as well as other things. you only made it home once after that, ichika crying and telling you to stop, to just let it happen. she didn't want you to get hurt. but, you went against her advice, and you were killed. to be fair... it was justified, what you were doing, but your anger got the best of you. you should've stayed in this life. you died when you were twenty-three.

the sixth life | greed

Postby petrify » Fri Jun 29, 2018 1:05 am

in your sixth life, you were born in 1902. took quite awhile for you to come back to the living, huh? this time, you were born in america. oh, how your previous life you would've loathed you. your father claude abram was named and your mother was barbara smith. you had an older brother named sylvester, two younger brothers named milton and hubert, and a younger sister named anne. you grew up surprisingly rich, and you lived on a large farm that your father built himself. he was a very hard worker, and you guys made most of your money from him working, while your mother tended to the fields (along with you and your siblings) and sold whatever extra produce you had. which... was quite a lot. you guys did own a humongous farm, after all. similar to your first life, you grew prideful of what you had. i guess you could almost count this as a mix of your pride and greed killing you. oh, maximus, you fool. you lived longer than the rest of your lives, though, but no spoilers yet. when you were eighteen, your father bought you a house, lucky you, since you guys were flourishing. he paid you for working on the family farm then, and he provided you with even more money if you needed it. he didn't exactly do that with your other siblings, though, so you can imagine their jealousy when they saw you buying all of the fanciest things and showing off. you had all the luxurious items you could ever imagine, and when you parents soon grew sick and died (they had been older when they had all of you; in their forties), you took everything from them, even the farm. you hired workers for you, paying them the absolute minimum, and you gave nothing to your siblings. then, one day, you come home, get comfortable, and suddenly your oldest brother, sylvester is there. he's holding a gun, pointing it at you. he murmurs "you left us with nothing, so i'm taking everything from you", and before you can say anything, he shoots you. you were twenty-six. congratulations, that's the oldest age you got to in all of your lives.

the seventh life | sloth

Postby petrify » Fri Jun 29, 2018 1:18 am

in your last and final life, you were born in 1988, in the soviet union, which in a few years would be russia. you don't remember it as the soviet union, you were too young. your father died before you were born, but his name was afanasi sokolov. you were left with your mother, who's name was oksana mikhailov. when you were three, she remarried, and you had a new father named konstantin kuznetsov. when you were four, you were given a little brother, who's name was nikolay. when he turned eighteen, he left and did his own thing, went to college, got a job, all of that. you, however, stayed. you never got a job, slept all day, played on whatever gaming consoles were out at that time, and all of that. never went anywhere, stayed in your room all the time, while your step-father and mother worked to take care of you. konstantin soon grew tired of it, and you two got into an argument. you said he wasn't your father, and he couldn't tell you what to do. he was... oddly calm after that and gave you no trouble for the next two months. that was, until you woke to your light turning on and the door opening to your room. before you could tell him to leave, his hands are around your throat, and no matter how hard you tried to pry them off, you couldn't. you died by the hands of your step-father, and your mother helped him clean up the evidence. oh, you didn't know that? your mother couldn't stand you either, and they actually planned it together. the reason they left you alone for those two months is because they wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. they thought you would leave. but you didn't. did they ever get caught, you ask? that's funny that you think i would tell you. you died when you were twenty-five; you almost beat your record! too bad.

what now?

Postby petrify » Fri Jun 29, 2018 1:32 am

maximus sat there in silence, eyes glued on the floor beneath him. he had nothing to say. he hadn't remembered any of that, and he honestly felt terrible about it all. well, mostly.

"well? what do you have to say?"

maximus looked to the demon that was previously speaking, watching the entity laugh in amusement.

"i don't have anything to say. i don't remember any of it. all i remember is the punishments, which i wasn't aware had really any cause for."

the demon scoffed as he shifted in his chair, grunting as he put his forearms on the table in front of him. "well, after scarring you from all of that, i do have some good news, fortunately enough for you."

maximus looked to the demon, eyebrows furrowing. "and what would that be?"

a wicked smile came to the red man's face, interlocking his fingers. "you've been doing such a good job with the tasks we've given you that lucifer has decided that you can go back to earth."

a look of astonishment came over maximus's face, and he almost stood from his chair in excitement. he was honestly getting real sick and tired of the heat, the non-stop jobs, and torturing others. which was his newest job he had gotten, by the way, and he was already sick of it.

"really?" he breathed.

"under one condition," the demon moved back in his chair before grabbing a file, opening it up and turning it towards maximus. with his long fingernail, he pointed at two individuals. maximus followed his finger, studying the pictures of two women. "you must kill these two. boreas and sekhmet. they're goddesses, and they're getting too powerful. lucifer fears what they might do next, because apparently they have plans to come to the underworld." the demon leaned back in his chair, raising his eyebrows at maximus. "and since you're big and strong, and you're a sick little snake, he's trusting you with it," he laughed afterwards, leaning forward quickly and slamming his hand against the desk, making maximus jump.

"and if you do that, he'll grant you immortality. you won't ever have to worry about not committing your previous sins because it simply wouldn't matter then!" the wicked smile returned, and maximus felt nervousness beginning to rise in his chest. he didn't know how powerful these two were, and he had no powers, so how was he suppose to do anything against them?

"if i fail?" maximus asked, voice quiet.

the demon crossed his arms, "you come back down here. you'll have a punishment, which i can't disclose to you, and then someone else will be assigned to it."

well... it was worth a shot, right?

swallowing, maximus slowly nodded.

"alright. i'll do it."
