- They walked together to the altar. Time seemed to both hold still, and run ahead in leaping bounds. The priest ceremoniously tied the string around their hands, and they held them up for all to see. Then they feasted before the secret second part of their ceremony. They followed the instructions given them, ate more of certain foods, and avoided others. When it was time, they slipped away, tails twining as they walked together. The priest was waiting for them in a sacred clearing. Two glittering rings set with obsidian lay on the stone.
He looked them in the eye and asked, “are you sure this is what you want? This path you’re going on won’t affect just you, but your grandchildren, and their grandchildren.”
All he got was a pair of lovestruck nods, and he shook his head slightly before invoking the Bond. He called upon the energy in their souls, as he pulled out the bottle containing the ingredient needed to cement the Bond. It curled around his fingers in a questioning and curious touch. It was young, like them. He hoped in time they wouldn’t come to regret their decision. They stared in awe as he placed it on their bound hands and it embedded itself into their very core. Then the happy couple said their Words as energy flared between them and lit up the clearing. It was done.
