Part II
"The famous stranger."
______________________
The bartender tonight wasn't one he was familiar with, but he apparently knew him. They made small talk for some time when the bartender stopped and his jaw dropped. Apparently his 'favorite' singer just walked through the door and the kalon behind the counter was fanboying and gushing about how great his music was. Between his babbling he managed to get the singer's name out of the newbie.
Avery Quinn.
Atticus watched him like a hawk and soon understood why so many kalons were swarming the singer. His eyes were soft and orange and the hearts on the sides of his cheeks made him even more charming. He greeted everyone that he could and had a genuine smile on his face while he did so. The bouncers soon swooped in and escorted him inside and to the bar, but he politely waved them off as soon as he sat down and thanked them for helping him out. The bartender was a blubbering mess when he asked him for a water
Wow, how boring.
Something about this guy annoyed Atticus. He didn't know why he was annoyed by how polite and genuine he was, but he was. They sat in silence for some time, but little did everyone know, Atticus was planning his next move. With a small smirk he raised his hand.
"Excuse me Mr. Bartender, but may I have a Mimosa?" He almost purred. The singer looked over at him as the bartender made his way over to the glasses, clearly upset that Atticus pulled him away from his 'favorite' singer. The bartender reluctantly did his job and prepared him drink, Avery watching him the whole time. He gave him the drink before trying to go back to Avery, but soon realized the bar was becoming crowded and angrily flung a towel over his shoulder and walked off to the others at the bar. Atticus smirked at the famous stranger before taking a sip of his drink.
Avery gave him a sly smile back and drank his water. Atticus chuckled and held his drink.
"So Avery's your name huh?" Atticus took a small sip of the orange drink. "I hear you've got quite the voice." Avery gave a small laugh, making the kalons around look their way. Avery ducked down for a second and covered his head, trying to avoid the others in the room. Atticus raised an eyebrow and lowered his drink.
"Thanks, sorry 'bout that. You never know who's watching." Atticus nodded, but still kept his plan in mind.
"Well Avery, the name's Atticus, Atticus Wolfe." Atticus swore he saw him blush, but he didn't let him know.
Avery hummed and leaned on his hand. "Well Atticus, it's nice to meet you. It seems you already know me." Whatever Atticus was doing, it was working. He raised his eyebrows again and gave him another smirk.
"As much as I'd love to say I do, it seems the whole room knows you more than I do." Avery laughed to himself and covered his mouth with a hand.
"Well I'll tell you this much, I haven't ever been in a nightclub or anything of the sort. So this is all, new to me." Atticus nodded and kept listening. " I'm from a small town in Michigan, so the busyness of every city I go to is almost... unnerving? I don't know how to put it, but I like it here. New York is nice." Atticus nodded again.
"Yeah, but this place is nuts. I don't ever drive in the city, it's way too dangerous in my eyes. So really, what brings you to the Big Apple? You have a concert anytime soon?" Avery blushed and avoided his eyes.
How cute.
"Ye-Yea, It's uh- It's tomorrow and I'm totally avoiding the set up right now. Though, my manager said I didn't have to go, I still feel bad for not being there y'know?" Avery grabbed his water and took a sip before cradling the cup.
They sat for sometime making small talk, the bartender and the rest of the room still watching them, wondering what they were talking about. With some more talk, Atticus found himself in a different room entirely, neither of them remembering how they got there. He couldn't lie, he was having a nice time, but there's something he wanted out of it.
He finally got what he wanted out of the pretty singer he met earlier that night.
They kissed, no Atticus didn't take any pictures. He didn't want to ruin this guy's life, he really was a good guy and deserved the fame he had. That didn't stop Atticus from blowing him off and never talking to him again. He did keep that number in his phone as a trophy, though a hidden one that is.
From what he knows, Avery might have written a song about him and good for him. The song reached the charts as he expected and Atticus was even proud of him.
At least he took something meaningful from that night, because Atticus sure didn't.
