The following files have been recovered from a safe by the Government of the United Kingdom in late 2015.
The files contain information and data following the work of Auwei renowned genetics biologist and chemist,
Irving Kultz. Though much of the information went missing shortly after it's discovery, the files of Project Icarus
are in pristine condition and have been released this year to the remaining general public. The Government of
the United Kingdom strongly advises the general public to read these files in order to prepare themselves for
what they assume to be an impending war between human and creature; one we have been waiting for.

It is, indeed, a very happy New Year.
With Project Zero under way, I now have some more time to focus on my own project: Icarus. We begin Project Icarus much the same way as we had with Project Zero on the 26th of December, with genealogical testing and tracing back in the species ancestry to study their natural mutations.
I happened upon this particular egg for Project Icarus in a secluded underground cave while traveling a short while back. I assumed it to be fossilized, due to it’s appearance and texture, though found it to be merely in a state of cryostasis due to it’s surroundings, I can only guess. The cave itself glistened with frost on every surface, despite the weather being rather muggy and hot just outside. I hadn’t thought much of it, aside from a souvenir of my travels or perhaps something I could offer to the museum for a pretty penny, however I had never not gone with my gut instinct… and something was telling me to hang on to the egg and even incubate it. I had to do so in private, however. Nobody could know about my little side project.
Where the Visclings of Project Zero have been developing and growing much more rapidly than those would in the wild, Icarus had been left suspended in a cryostasis state since the day I found his egg. The frost that took this egg seemingly chilled it straight to the Viscling inside, and I was beginning to wonder if it was even worth the trouble until I saw movement one morning when shining a flashlight at the dusky hued shell.
The team did a knock out of genes for those of Project Zero, and the results thus far have been exceptional. In lieu of this, I’ve decided to take a different approach with Project Icarus and add specific genes instead of knocking them out. Scott likes to call them “personality genes”, genes that both heighten the creature’s basic instincts, and jump start a dormant intelligence within them. What I am doing instead, however, is prepping a serum that will effectively mirror that of this creature’s ancestors. It will be 100% feral, and with any luck will have an aggressive streak to rival our present day’s most fearsome creatures.

He's consumed and shrouded by a dark cloud of claustrophobia as he grows. His muscles ache, the undeniable feeling of fire burning through his veins. Icarus cries out in only the way a small Viscling can, but his calls and cries go unheard as the two scientists mill about in their room, pouring liquids into other liquids and tinkering away at machinery and bright flashing screens.
Icarus searches for his mother's scent-- he is greeted by the assault of disinfectant and a false feather nest that he's expected to curl up in. The feathers poke into him uncomfortably, and make the fire inside him burn more harshly. Every muscle strains as he stretches and inspects his confinement, deep reds staring through the panel of glass to settle on the moving bodies just out of reach. Sometimes their ugly faces nearly press up against the glass to watch him, their irritating voices sounding muffled and unfamiliar as Icarus tries to press himself away from them in the far corner. Paws itch at his ears, trying to block the melodic tinkling from harassing his senses further, but the incredible overwhelm of his surroundings do nothing but dull him and throw him into a strange reverie by the end of his first month of life.
The slender creature with bright blue eyes and soft features is the only one who can calm the Viscling, after weeks of snapping at the glass and any fingers that make their way into his confinement. He'd rather snap at wiggling fingers than half frozen rats that don't give him any chase, but the food he was presented with was far better than none, and Icarus had learned quite quickly that if he didn't eat when he was meant to then he would not eat for who knows how long after that.
The bulky creature was far more aggressive than the soft creature, often times barking out loudly with either excitement at a discovery or frustration over something Icarus hasn't done correctly. Icarus, of course, shouts right back at the larger male with as much might as he is capable of at his age. The soft male, Icarus observes, finds amusement in the Viscling's retaliation and often times can be seen baring his teeth with joy.
Whereas the soft male tends to stick around and often times fall asleep in his chair against the incubator, the aggressive male that tries to act as the parental figure sticks his too-clean scented hands into Icarus' space far too often to be comfortable. The Viscling hates the scent of disinfectant-- but what he hates more is the scent of other Visclings. He can find the smell if he tries hard enough, straining and pressing his nose against the featherless male's strange paw.
