▬▬▬▬ PROLOGUE ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
── first comes the blessing of all that you've dreamed, but then comes the curses of diamonds and rings ──
Sunlight cascaded from the heavens like silk, milky and soft. It draped over the castle, gently curving to the shape of its towers. Pouring into the kingdom villages, the sunbeams weaved through the modest buildings to wish the citizens good morning. A bird's sweet melody was carried by a pleasant breeze. Crops were ripe, colorful, and drizzled with dew. Everything about the kingdom was perfectly simple and pure. And it seemed as if things were only going to get better...
This kingdom was as humble as it was beautiful. They did not believe in want nor greed. One individual would not be placed higher than another. Everyone was equal. The King and Queen treated their people with respect and kindness, advocating for the simplistic belief that everything would be modest and fair.
The Kalons were hasty to arise from bed, greeting the day with excitement and joy. Climbing slowly to the top of the sky, the sun showered the streets with peachy light. The kingdom was taken over by an unusual boisterous glee. Everything seemed to be so bright, so awake.
The Royal Family did not allow themselves to hoard expensive goods or delicacies. Everything was shared. Wine, jewelry, none of that was to be limited to only the King and Queen.
Only the finest of clothes were to be worn today. Every speck of dirt would be washed from the Kalon's faces. Their hair would be pulled up tightly, not a strand out of place.
However, the kingdom had one peculiar oddity that made them stand out from the rest.
Flowers lined the dirt roads that led up to the castle, casting a glorious glow upon the hundreds of faces that had gathered there.
They were extremely superstitious.
Today was the day that the King and Queen would introduce their new born son to the public.
And the one thing they loathed more than anything else was gold.
