Ezekial has always been oriented towards paying attention to whatever his lively mother Valkyrie has to say. His flamboyancy was definitely adapted from her, and he finds inspiration from her.
Ever since he was much younger Ezekial has treasured all of the time he's spent with Valkyrie. He was always the one to volunteer the most when watching/helping her make her concoctions and fireworks. Everything she had to say he would take to heart. He always wanted to tag along with her to see what new, exciting thing she'd partake in next.
He loves his mother very dearly, and occasionally sees her on his journeys. If they ever accidentally meet up, they'll strike up a bubbling conversation filled with joy and curiosity! " You're looking well! How has life been? Anything new? Oooh are you gonna take that back home and give it to Mom?"
Honestly, the two act more like exceedingly chummy old friends rather than parent and child.

While they love each other profoundly, Ezekial and his homebound mother have a great deal of angst with each other.
He and Opal have always had frustration with each other. Zeke got into lots of trouble as a child due to not listening. He did much of whatever he pleased without respecting his mother's authority as a parent. He was treated by the much firmer and frazzled version of Opal compared to the other children.
When it came to Ezekial's decision of going off to travel, she was completely abstinent against the very notion. He of course left anyway after telling Opal that she had no say in the matter, and that he was going no matter what. The two weeks leading up to his departure contained extremely little communication between them, with the only divulgence being arguing and dejected expressions.
Ezekial misses his mother with all of his heart, and regrets not being a better son.

Zeke and Kibasha usually got along well with as they both love going out and adventuring through town and the many fields. Together, they could be more than a little overwhelming and frequently found themselves in the middle of mischief.
Ezekial especially liked to act as audience for Kibasha's fencing practice and storytelling! He was impressed with her skills, and sometimes found he envied them. This occasionally lead to competitiveness and trying to one-up the other. In the end, Zeke was the one who broke away to follow his dreams more closely.
Before he left, he and Kibasha had a failing sibling-hood. She was extremely upset with him leaving, and somewhat jealous. Zeke didn't come to see what she was up to anymore and can only imagine that she felt a bit lonely without him there to accompany her on escapades. Conversations between them died off quickly and he would avoid her because he didn't know how to apologize. They hugged before he left town and that was it.
He thinks of Basha often, and tries to keeps swords around to send or bring in his sparse returns home.

He and Rita do not have the closest bond, but he still cares for her a lot! He's made quick work of going from simple goods to more luxurious items, and makes sure to save beautiful jewelry for her. He frequently sends these silver adornments in decorative packages.
Zeke also quite enjoys exchanging letters with her and talking about his experiences on the road, as well as asking her about new things she's learning about! She is his main resource for information on things back at town.
Ezekial was fascinated with her aptitude medicinal practice as a child; often asking her about all kinds of gruesome wounds and conditions that she saw on various people. They didn't have a lot of common, and he and Basha sometimes teased Rita for being a softie (despite her having the strongest tolerance for gross stuff out of all of them).

He has another penpal by the name of Jericho. They have the age gap of a decade, but Jericho doesn't mind at all and finds the child refreshing to write to. Ezekial's curiosity encourages Jerry's town, and the two have a very strong friendship!
Zeke sees Jericho as something of a mentor and is deeply appreciative that the man shares his knowledge of the world. Jericho's kingdom is far away, but Ezekial plans to see him in a few years and form connections in that land as well.
