Prompt:
Dante is a mysterious kalon, who hides his feelings behind an expert mask of apathy. He is not close to many, if any, other kalons. He is so focused on his work that he could be considered obsessed. He has a very short temper, and often gets frustrated, either with himself or with others. Despite his apathetic nature, Dante's way of working is rather chaotic, and he resorts to violence very quickly. In terms of social aptitude, Dante is practically clueless. He has trouble picking up on jokes, and regular social interactions in general, making him not the ideal chatting partner. However, his physical strength allows him to be a powerful ally.

Workshop One - Day One Exercise

What is your Kalon’s first, middle, and last name (if they have one)?

Does your Kalon have a human appearance as well? If so, what do they look like?

Edward could be described as very handsome, if only he were to clean up his looks. He could be thought of as a diamond in the rough. His face is bony and angular, with sharp cheek bones and a prominent jawline, which only adds to the lanky physique he possesses. His sharply pointed glasses only seem to magnify his angles and bony figure. Ed's hair is wild at best, with unruly brown curls cascading to the side of his forehead. His pale skin his mostly unblemished, though a very prominent beauty mark stands out on the left side of his face, slightly above the corner of his lip. Ed's eyes are a rich chesnut-like color, and he often wears a minimal amount of brown eyeliner and eyeshadow to help the small golden flecks in his irises pop. One might think that Edward is frozen in time, due to his antique fashion sense. Underneath his usual white work lab coat, he wears "grandpa" sweaters and mutely colored button up shirts. His bottom wear is none out of the ordinary, as he usually wears brown slacks or, occasionally, grey skinny jeans.

Does you Kalon have any family members? If so, blood related or adopted?
Edward has (non-canon) parents that he has an incredibly harsh relationship with. Being the first and only child to a pair of unprepared young parents was a bad mix from the beginning. In his early years of life, Edward portrayed an excellent ability to solve puzzles quicker and more efficiently than any of his peers. The pride his parents felt for him was immensely gratifying for the young kalon, but it wasnt his early adolescent years that his disorder and impulse began to interfere. Ed's interest in death and crime began to magnify, scaring all those around him, including his parents. The two kalons, who were used to their son being a bright young spectacle among his peers, were wildly unfamiliar with the fact that his hyperfocuses and ticks which were now beginning to surface. As Edward's symptoms increased, the tension within his family did as well, and by the age of fifteen, Edward was spending every night he possibly could at his best friend's small home, dreading the rare required check-ins with his disdainful mother and father. Having the academic capability to graduate early, Edward moved out of his home town as early as seventeen, instead finding a home in the city where he could live comfortably without the looming presence of his parents.

Who is your Kalon the closest to? Why?
At the age of fifteen, Edward was a social outcast at school. That is, until, he met Archie Winston. After a significantly unlucky trip to school, which left him late and soaking wet from a sudden rain storm, Edward had trudged into the highschool hallway to find Archie crying near the boy's bathroom; he had been grieving over the loss of his adoptive parental figure. Despite his nerves and mind screaming at him to just walk onwards with his head down, Edward stepped up to the crying young kalon and enveloped him into a hug until his sobbing ceased. The two of them hit it off immediately after that, bouncing off of each others rambly and excitable energy. It was nearly impossible to find one without the other, despite Archie being significantly more sociable with their peers. There was a perfect chemistry and balance between them that still strongly exists to this day. Where Archie is oblivious, Edward is sensible, and where Edward is chaotic, Archie is a grounding force. The two of them spent most of their time together in their adolescence; at one point Edward even moved in with his best friend for a couple years to avoid his parents' disapproving eye. Now, the two live in a large city apartment together, and have advanced their status to queer-platonic partners. After a trying day of work or a particularly bad mental health day, the two of them will curl up together on the couch and watch movies together until they fall asleep, their limbs tangled and hands clasped.

What sort of occupation does your Kalon have? Do they enjoy it?
Edward works as a forensic scientist at the Kalon City Police Department. Although most of his young life was spend having no idea what to do with the information buzzing in his brain, in collage Ed finally found the occupation that suited his passions; forensic pathology. He immediately threw himself into the classes required to earn a degree in the field, and is known as one of the youngest kalons to get a degree in the department. Edward's first official and most likely long-term job was his status as the lead forensic scientist at the KCPD. The kalon's immense attention to detail and odd obsession with death itself are a perfect match for his career, and he loves his job for that reason. However, he cannot say the same for those he works with. Most if not all his peers in the police department find his genuine interest in death to be creepy and unsettling. They ostracize him greatly as a result, though Ed finds himself used to being an outsider at this point in his life. He tries his best not to let it bother, and usually he succeeds.

List some of your Kalons likes and dislikes and give an explanation as to why.
As mentioned earlier, Edward tends to hyperfocus on very dark interests, such as crime, or even death itself. He finds the puzzle of a dramatic mystery to be incredibly entertaining. Likewise, Edward enjoys mind games and riddles, and regularly exercises his brain with various trivia. However, in contrast, Ed greatly dislikes having too much pressure put on him at once, so "games" that are trying for his mind tend to aggravate him more than interest him, and he can lash out in these cases. He does not enjoy the feeling of being seen as lesser, or an idiot, and will do absolutely anything to avoid it.
Besides his main interests, Ed enjoys reading fantasy and mystery novels, and easily allows himself to get wrapped up in them. He is incredibly careless, and if Archie is not there to warn him, Ed often stays up entire nights reading a long novel in one sitting, his mind dragging on and short-circuiting the next day due to his complete lack of rest. In fact, Edward tends to do this often, with almost everything that he does; he overworks himself to a point of complete exhaustion, not realizing that he's going to far until its too late, and he's suffering the immense consequences.

What is your Kalons biggest weakness and strength?
Edward's biggest weakness lies in his naive nature. It is significantly easy for someone to manipulate him into doing their bidding; if he thinks it is in the name of friendship, Ed is willing to do anything if asked. This often leads to him being taken advantage of, whether it be by doing work for others, committing small acts of violence, or just generally being fooled to think he's someone's friend, only to become a joke among his peers in the end. Despite this happening so often, it is as though the kalon never learns, and he is still just as easy to manipulate as he was in his earliest years of kithood. Although, there are certain things that could certainly push him too far, and though none of them have happened yet, if they were to occur, Edward would come back a much different kalon than he was before.
His biggest strength can be found in his immense knowledge and obsession with minutia. Where others are blind, Edward can easily spot a problem from a mile away. His mind is constantly at work, allowing him to think up a thousand endings to a specific situation before another kalon can even realize the weight of what they are doing. Because of this, he is a natural sleuth, and it isnt uncommon that detectives at the KCPD come to him (albeit reluctantly) for help on their cases.

Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:

"Lupei."
The word, his name, struck through his mind like a lightning bolt, jerking him out of his peaceful slumber. It was his mothers voice, repeating his name over and over in an urgent tone that sent panicked shivers down his spine. "Mama?" he whined, mind still groggy from the veil of sleep which previously enveloped his brain. Again, his mother said his name in that frantic tone that struck fear into his heart, her large paws enveloping him and shaking mercilessly. "Lupei. Lupei. We need to go. We need to run." Immediately, Lupei was was being pulled to his feet, and dragged into the hallway. His mother was still draped in her nightgown. the silk skirt flowing freely and wildly as she anxiously dragged her young son toward the back door. It wasnt until they neared the center of the house, that Lupei began to feel the heat radiating off the walls, nearly cooking him alive as they raced through the long corridors of their home in order to reach the back exit. Their beautiful, albeit secluded home, was burning.

By the time they reached the cramped back door, Lupei felt as if he himself was burning with their beloved house, sweat dripping down his face. The air outside felt like being born again, the cool air washing over him and providing a moment of clarity before he forced himself to remember the weight of the situation. His mother did not stop, dragging him away from the building and closer to the forest's edge. It was not until they came to a stop at the edge of the trees that Lupei was able to turn and see the flames licking and destroying his childhood home. "Mama!" he cried, almost involuntarily, pressing closer into her arms as if she would protect him from the sight of destruction. The elder kalon wasnt much better off, her frail limbs shaking with the harsh wind and dampness of the forest as she felt her life crumble around them. All of their belongings, savings, and memories were woven within the walls of their burning home; they had nothing now.

The destruction of their home marked the very beginning of what would become an incredibly hard life for Lupei. By the age of 15, he began working three off-hand jobs to help support his sickly mother and gain back the money the two of them had lost in the fire. At 17, he scraped up enough money for a flight and moved he and his mother to America, in hopes of having more opportunity. Instead, new diseases infected his aging mother to a point where she eventually passed, and Lupei was left alone, hopeless, and scared.

That is, until he met Raury Davis.

Do they keep promises, or break them? Why?
Raury is an impulsive liar, and as a result he has immense trouble keeping secrets with others. This usually does not bother him whatsoever, as he feels rather apathetic towards other kalons. He has no problem breaking promises if it means he will benefit from it. However, to the three people he cares about in the world; his brother, and his mates, he tends to avoid having to make promises as he is afraid of hurting them with his compulsive behavior. Instead, he prefers to be upfront with them and speaks openly at all times.

Are they a leader, follower, or loner? Why?
Raury has always been a leader, from his early days of kithood to his days now as the leader of a notorious gang. At a young age, he was a charismatic troublemaker that most of his peers adored and equally feared, due to his violent nature toward anyone who were to harm or even threaten his brother, Rue. Raury carries a natural aura about himself that alludes leadership and power, even if he can come off as childly chaotic. Despite this, he is still a very powerful leader, and often comes out on top in any dangerous situation he drags himself into.

If they could change one thing in their past, what would it be a why?
Mostly, he regrets letting go of those that helped keep him grounded to humanity. The two people who stand out most in that area are his brother and his ex-boyfriend, Wyatt. When he was still on good terms with those who spent their every waking hour trying to keep him at least somewhat rooted to humanity, he was able to feel more empathy towards those around him and even feel remorse for his actions. But after cutting them off, he lost this ability within himself and became progressively more chaotic, to a point of complete apathy, especially towards he is indifferent to or dislikes.

Do they care what others think of them? Why or why not?
No. As mentioned earlier, he's heavily apathetic and rarely cares for the opinions of others.

Do they tend to argue with others or do they avoid conflict?
Raury actually tends to enjoy creating conflict, especially when he can benefit from it. He finds it to be gratifying and will sometimes go out of his way to start a fight.

Are they more spontaneous, or are they the type that always needs a plan?
Raury rarely ever has a plan; he works best when he's working spontaneously. He has always been best at causing chaos, and has never tried doing things differently since it works so easily for him.

Do they have any quirks, mannerisms, habits, or other defining characteristics?
complete apathy, childlike glee, random boughts of anger, neverending charm, chaotic mindset

Workshop One - Day Four Exercise

Write about them interacting with their favorite thing:
Remus was born to the head family of a flourishing mountain tribe, which were known for intricate rituals and regular use of celtic magic spells, passed down from their ancestors. From a young age, Remus was trained almost every spell in the book, from the simplest of enchantments to the most advanced wizardry the tribe had ever seen. This did not bother Remus, as he greatly looked forward to becoming the most skilled user of his tribe and becoming the new leader, in place of his aging father. After a handful of years spent training and preparing, Remus was finally chosen as his tribe's new leader. A large part of the initiation included the don the large, wool robe, which he still wears to this day. The leader's robe, when Remus first felt it wrap around his shoulders, was heavy, and fit perfectly despite it's heavily worn nature. Intricately woven tassels hung from its edges, tickling the kalon's fur, and small sabertooth tusks jutted out from the sides as a form of gruesome decoration. He felt connected to the object from the moment it was draped over him, and refused to part with it. However, Remus' rule did not last long, as enemy tribes saw the new young leader's first days as leader as an opportunity to attack. Their methods were cruel, using all of their brute strength and knowledge about the earth around them to start an avalanche which would wipe out the entirety of Remus' tribe, taking the leader with it. Somehow, as if a true miracle, Remus survived the indecent, but his tribe was wiped away by the sparkling snow as if they had never been there to begin with. For a long while, Remus only had the spells in his mind, his ambition, and his beloved cloak to keep him alive as he traveled far and wide, in search of a new place to call home. Many times, a traveling merchant would offer a handsome payment for his coat, so much so that he could rest comfortably in an inn for a few nights, but being stubborn as he was, he refused, clinging ever tighter to his cloak.

Where do they live and what is the geography like?
Caravan is a traveling merchant, and as a result, he rarely stays in one city for too long. From the northern snowy fortress of Valeka, to the summery city of Gasgarath in the south; Caravan has seen it all. The climate of his world, which has been deemed the named Aion, is moderately similar to our Earth; a colder regular temperature the further you get from the equator, with four seasons that last twice as long as those on Earth. The planet is accompanied by two moons, which are ever-present in the sky, that cause a drast difference in the water's high and low tides. As a result, most sea-side villages are usually settled at least a few miles from the low tide shore. The trees on this planet tower above any buildings; some species can grow to the size of mountains. Additionally, the animals on Aion are immensely larger than those on earth. A ladybug on Aion can grow to the size of an Earth Rhinosorus, and mammals grow to be even larger. Mosf of Aion's geography consists of forests, ranging in specie, with a multitude of snowy mountains to the north, and rolling fields to the south.

What is the society like there, is there a hierarchy?
There are four kings that rule with relative peace throughout the land, although Aion does not go without it's squabbles. In addition to the cities that the four kings reside in, many villages and working towns can be found all over the planet.

What kind of technology does the world possess: modern, medieval, fantasy, etc.?
He lives in a medieval fantasy setting! Modern technology is not very well developed, but magic and mythical creatures alike exist in this world.

Do many or only a few people live here?
small villages dotting the land usually hold only a few hundred people, while large cities can have a head-count in the high thousands.

Is the history the same as our world, or is it different? If different, how?
Not many people know what Aion was like before the four kingdoms arose, but when they did, it was done very roughly. War broke out amongst the villages in protest of the introduction of heirarchy, but the for kings' armies quickly silenced any who apposed them. In the earlier years of the kings' rulings, there were many squabbles, which lead to the loss of entire village populations as tensions sometimes grew to a fatal amount. After the population of people ruled by the four kingdoms became dangerously low due to their fighting, they immediately began signing peace treaties. Up until this point, most townsfolk had lived in harmony with the dragons that roamed through the sky and made nests in the tallest of trees; but after a spike in trade which included the nearly unbreakable scales on the dragons' back, people went mad hunting the beasts until their species eventually went extinct, save for one lone aging dragon that still floats slowly through the sky. It is also rumored that the kingdom to the west has one of the dragons locked away in the deepest depths of their castle dungeon.

Caravan is lower middle class.

What sort of language(s) is commonly spoken here?
The most common tongue is an elven language which sounds somewhat similar to Earth's french. Additionally, tribes in the mountains of Aion speak their own languages and even have their own form of writing.

Story Behind their Name:
Aiolos has no recollection of any time before the age of 5, and had always been alone on the streets. He had no parents to remind him of his name, so he simply chose one for himself. He had built up quite a reputation for himself in his hometown in Greece, as a quick and silent thief who stole the food from local merchant stalls. He felt it fitting to name himself after Aiolos, the greek god of wind. Legends told thay the god was as quick as Aio himself, and the kalon often jokes that he is in fact a reincarnation of the wind god.

How many different places have they lived:
He originally is from Romania, but moved to America with his mother at the age of 17. He traveled wherever he had to in order to pounce upon the best job opportunity. After the passing of his mother, Mars moved in with his boyfriends, and has stayed with them in California since.

Why did they settle down where they are currently:
Raury offered him complete protection in exchange for his presence, and feels he would he a fool to pass that up, despite the fact that his boyfriend leads a vicious gang which has now transformed to more of a cult now that Mars himself has entered it. Without his mother to take care of, he feels no need to make money for himself, and is content to stay with his corrupt lovers. The sweet way that they treat him makes it even easier to forget the vicious intentions behind their work.

Is there an ideal place they want to live, or are they already there:
In his heart, Mars always wishes the tragedy of losing his home would never have happened. He knows that if he hadnt, he would still have his mother with him in Romania, and he could have lived a normal life instead of the twisted one that he now possesses. If asked, however, Mars will smile and say that he is fully content with where he is living, under the protection of Raury and Jerome.

What are the biggest moments that have defined their life:
The biggest, by far, is the destruction of his home, which can be found here.
Another, although brutal, was the first time that Mars was forced to kill someone.

Does their future have a bright or darker outlook, and can they change it:
As an individual, his future has a rather neutral outlook. While he can look forward to a lifetime of protection and safety, the longer he stays in the position that he is in, the more likely he is to become corrupt.
