prompt; a soft and kind kal, terry sticks close to the people he knows and trusts [mal] a former makeup employee who somehow turned into a part-time drummer for a malibu's band. can be described as a soujo-manga heroine. blushes 24/7 and enjoys the company of his friends and family.

workshop one - day one exercise

what is your kalon’s first, middle, and last name? ava o'mally carlos
does your kalon have a human appearance as well? If so, what do they look like? standing 5'3, ava has healthy slightly tan colored skin, curly rose gold hair , freckles on her nose, and golden-y eyes
does your kalon have any family members? if so, blood related or adopted? ava has her fathers, malibu and terry, her brother, her fiance damian, and her adopted kid, seul
who is your Kalon the closest too? why? damian, her childhood crush, and later fiance <3 they've been super close since elementary school and fell in love later in life.
what sort of occupation does your Kalon have? do they enjoy it? she's currently staying at home since she's pregnant, taking care of herself, seul, and her future kids <3
list some of your kalons likes and dislikes and give an explanation as to why.
likes; damian, hugs, her kid seul, coffee!
dislikes; huge crowds, peer pressure, judging a book by it's cover, getting sick
what is your kalons biggest weakness and strength?
ava can overthink things and get lost in her head, it may take a while to pull her out, but she's quick to realize what she's doing!
her biggest strength is her love and care for everyone out there. she will never judge you and is always willing to lend a hand to someone in need

workshop one - day two exercise

write about a time when your kalon lost someone close to them:

she stared at the sign, closed, it read. the breeze pushed her long hair, silky black strands fluttering in the wind. unable to contain her confusion, soyeon immediately pulled out her phone to dial the number (with shaky fingers) she had memorized a long time ago. she remembered the day like yesterday....

"excuse me...?" a small voice called out at the front of the shop. she was lost, now living in a new world, fresh from korea. she saw a golden head of hair pop up from the back of the store. hazy gold eyes met hers.

"hey there," a soft voice replied back, his liquid gold eyes trained on her, "how can i help you?" his name tag read "andre"
soyeon rushed to the back, relieved to see another person. her english was a little awkward, and she had a slight accent, but that didnt stop her from talking to this new man, andre.

"hello... andre! my name is soyeon," she excitedly spoke. "uhm, i am new? i'm hungry too."

andre continued to stare at her, and then let out a small laugh, "well soy, do you like pizza?"

.... and so, she left the store that day with a box of leftover pizza and a scrap of paper with andre's number messily written on it. muttering the numbers to herself, she quickly memorized the one thing that would connect the two when they weren't together in his pizza shop. she visited often, asking for help with homework, or helping out making the pizzas.

"andre please pick up, please," she begged, extremely startled by the closed pizza shop. how could this be? his pizza is the best around... he's nice, and caring... and just-

her phone rang, she picked it up immediately, not bothering to look at the number, thinking it was andre. instead of the warm voice she was used to, she heard the concerned voice of her best friend, ava.

"soy.... he's gone...."

no. no way. no way he's gone... where would he go? his home was here, with her. soyeon choked out a simple, "what?" then followed with a flurry of questions, her voice raising higher and higher with each word, "gone? gone where? where did he go? why?"

"soyeon.... he's dead"

the korean girl sunk to the ground and sobbed into the phone, utterly lost and broken, not knowing what to think or believe. her mind was racing, and she just wanted to see him.

"please calm down, breathe for me,,," ava pleaded.

"where.... where is he?" soyeon finally demanded, soft wails bubbling up, "just tell me where... please."

do they keep promises, or break them? why? she keeps her promises no matter what happens, even if someone betrays her. she feels as if it's more like a promise to herself rather than to the other person
are they a leader, follower, or loner? why? she's a follower! soyeon is not one to lead things as she can get anxious about giving others directions
if they could change one thing in their past, what would it be and why? she wouldn't change a thing, soyeon believes in working from the past to make things in the future and present better!
do they care what others think of them? why or why not? despite looking like she doesn't care at all about what others think, soyeon is always conscious and curious about what others think about her.
do they tend to argue with others or do they avoid conflict? she's a mix of both depending on her mood!
are they more spontaneous, or are they the type that always needs a plan? soyeon is very spontaneous, not really planning things in advance! she doesn't want to spend her choosing what she's going to do
do they have any quirks, mannerisms, habits, or other defining characteristics? soyeon hate pepperoni, and she has a small accent! she's left handed and can multi-task extremely well

take a deep breath
pause
let everything go

rowan holds his breath for a couple seconds before sighing, seeing his breath mix with the cold air. it's just him and the ice. like it's always been, ever since he was younger.

"mama, im scared," he wailed, light blue eyes watering, clinging onto his mother's arm. his mother laughed gently, easing him away from her

"it's alright my little one," she cooed, "just try to have fun"

"fun," rowan scoffed and closed his eyes, letting his other senses take over. skating with no sight was no easy task, but after years and years, he just simply didn't care anymore.

was skating even fun to him anymore? why did he love it so much? was it the feeling? the smooth glide of the ice under his feet, the smell of fresh air and the feeling of rosy cheeks [that he already had anyways]

something always made him come back... but, he never knew what. rowan sighed again, opening his eyes, perhaps he was overthinking things, he didn't really need a reason to love something

he just knew he did, and that was enough thinking for now

born a healthy girl, in goyang, korea, soyeon was always interested in the world besides her small home-country. her parents urged her to learn other languages and she spent a lot of her free time looking at other places and learning about them. as soon as she finished college, soyeon set out to traveling the world. she visited europe, asia, and finally made her way to the united states. she fell in love with the country, planning to stay. she loves how diverse it is, and has made many friends! soyeon hopes that she can stay for for many more years

california, it is a chaparral, which means it is hot and dry in the summer! there are lots of hills, canyons, and beaches!
what is the society like there, is there a hierarchy?
it's a very culturally mixed area with lots of people, there is no hierarchy but there are social classes
what kind of technology does the world possess: modern, medieval, fantasy, etc.?
modern technology
do many or only a few people live here? many people live in california!
is the history the same as our world, or is it different? If different, how?
the history is the same since they're living in modern realistic times
is your kalon considered lower, middle, or upper class?
she is a upper class, since her fiance brings home the bacon
what sort of language(s) is commonly spoken here?
english, spanish, and chinese around chinatown!

story behind their name:
to be honest, soyeon's name comes from an alternate name my mom had picked out for me haha.
i really love the name and thought it would be cool to name her it!
she's one of my favorite kals and i feel like i have a connection with her because of it
as for the meaning;
from sino-korean 昭 "bright, luminous; illustrious" and 姸 "beautiful"

how many different places have they lived: several! she's traveled around the world and is currently in california
why did they settle down where they are currently: she fell in love with the area and the people in it
is there an ideal place they want to live, or are they already there: she thinks that she's made it to her ideal place!
what are the biggest moments that have defined their life: moving from korea, having to leave her family behind, traveling around the world, and embracing her new home!
does their future have a bright or darker outlook, and can they change it: her future has a bright outlook! soyeon is a very positive person and she thinks to really change your outlook, you have to be positive and not let anything bad weigh you down
