Hikaru inhaled shakily as he watched his twin sister get up and storm out of the room after being told off by an elder. Tsukiko was changing, the Sun Guardian could tell that much, and it was clear that the change wasn't a positive one. Annoying the higher-ups was always a bad choice, and Tsukiko seemed to be doing just that, and she would get upset at them for getting upset at her.
Smiling shakily at the older and unamused Viscet, Hikaru bowed his head and hurried out of the room to chase after Tsukiko. This wasn't normal in any circumstance, and he had to find out why. Hikaru had an inkling that it had to do with Hoshi's exile, but he couldn't be completely sure. There were many sides that one had to consider when thinking about Tsukiko. She was a complex Viscet to understand, after all.
Making his way down the halls, he caught sigh of the Moon Guardian's purple tail disappear over a corner. Frowning, Hikaru paused in his pursuit and stared down the halls. Since Hoshi's exile, everything had always seemed so dull, without the Viscling to lighten the mood. "She's suffering as well," Hikaru mumbled to himself, letting his tail thump against the ground. The silken fabric of the ornaments on his tail brushed lightly against his fur, and the Sun Guardian let out a sigh. "Why won't she admit it...? It's quite obvious, at least in my opinion."
Swishing his tail back and forth, Hikaru decided to go find Tsukiko after all. There was nothing for the Sun Guardian to take his mind off about the incident, and he needed the Moon Guardian, even if she didn't need him. Padding silently through the halls, he eventually found his younger sister rocking back and forth in a chair, her eyes wide. Her paws were clutching her head, and Hikaru knew that something was off.
"Tsukiko...! What's wrong?" Hikaru asked, trying to sound casual, but the shine in his eyes gave it away. When Tsukiko lifted her head to acknowledge her older twin brother, she pursed her lips together tightly and lowered her head so that she was staring at the glossy linoleum floors. "Tsukiko, come on, you can tell me! All I want to do is to help you, you know that, right?" Hikaru wasn't sure of what he could even do, but when it came to his family, he would attempt anything.
It was a shame that he couldn't do anything for Hoshi. Flinching at the memory slightly, the Sun Guardian shook his ahead and returned his attention to the Moon Guardian. Tsukiko didn't reply for a long while, and when she did, her voice was raspy and a slight tremor ran through it. "I'm scared. The heavens aren't doing its job correctly. How could they do that to Hoshi?"
Shaking her head, Tsukiko let out a sigh and turned around to face Hikaru. The sight of her sunken and empty eyes frightened the male, and as he started to open his mouth to comment on them, Tsukiko let out a harsh laugh. "No, no one else will do anything. They know that it's wrong, but they won't step forward to take charge. I'm not like them!" Raising a paw to brush against the tips of her wings, Tsukiko tilted her head to look at Hikaru. "Did you see how Hoshi's wings were ripped off? You came late; her agonized screams had filled the room. No, I should rephrase that... Her wings weren't ripped off, they were melded into her body. She no longer has wings, but rather markings that would remind her of the brilliance that she once had."
Adjusting the black silk draped around her shoulders, Tsukiko frowned at the stunned Sun Guardian. "You are so oblivious sometimes. Just watch me, I'll make the heavens right again. The first step is to eliminate those damn elders; they're so full of themselves. Hoshi was right in regards to speaking back to that particular elder. They've become so pompous that anything little critism will infuriate them." Clenching her fists together, Tsukiko's eyes narrowed as her winter blue eyes stared into the core of Hikaru's spring green eyes.
"Try to calm down, Tsukiko," Hikaru suggested softly, placing a warm paw on top of one of the Moon Guardian's paws. It felt cold to the touch, and the Sun Guardian shivered inwardly. She is just grieving, he tried to reason to himself, but Hikaru knew that this sudden hatred ran much deeper. "We may be separated for now, but we will eventually be reunited. Besides, if we don't in this life, we can always be reincarnated."
Tsukiko stood up suddenly, upturning the chair and glared at Hikaru with a sort of crazed frenzy in her eyes. "What if reincarnation doesn't exist? There's no legitimate proof! It feels like we're being torn from our family once again! Why does this has to happen?" Dropping her head in her paws again, the Moon Guardian's shoulders started to shake. "We never asked for this life. Why were we given this position? It has caused nothing but grief for us." Pausing in the middle of her speech, Tsukiko took a long and shaky exhale.
Giving his younger twin a mournful glance, Hikaru took several steps back, before leaving the room. There was nothing he could do to make Tsukiko feel better, and from personal experience, the Sun Guardian had learned that it was best to simply leave the Moon Guardian to do her brooding. "I'll give you some space, and I'll come back later, Tsukiko," Hikaru commented softly to himself, before nodding his head firmly. He had to be better sibling for the female. He would find a way to find Hoshi and rebuild the family that they used to be before they had been forcibly separated.
At least, that had been the initial plan. The entire situation had changed when Tsukiko had decided to make an attempt on one of the elders' lives.
