Meeting them -

Allena was called to the dusty old house she use to call home, Yaris was clueless of her venture out to a town over an hour away from but Allena had to make the trip. She held her paws close to her chest as she lent against the car and let out a cold sigh as she shivered a little as the cool air brushed over her before she spotted the headlights of another car pulling up, blinding her for a moment.

Allena moved from the car and moved to the opening door, catching the mutters of a woman, “Stay there please.” She then turned and faced Allena, Moving her paws to her, “Oh Allena, thank for you meeting me on short notice.” Allena opened her mouth to reply but the female cut her off, “The matter is urgent Allena. My children are not safe.”

Allenas mouth shut and she looked at the female kalon, “The new babies? What on earth could be wrong?” She spoke and attempted a step forward, aiming to the car she knew the kits were in before being stopped.

“You must not see them. Not until you promise me… You’ll take them,” Her words echoed loudly and Allena stopped in her spot and looked at her once more, “Allena, The town hates them. There has been a large number of kits going missing. Directly after the disappearance of our middle child. They are being blamed..”

Allena stared, wide eyed at the female and then blinked once, “Why on earth would they blame two children. Especially as young as they are?” Allena said simply and the look at her face could kill, her dedication of children could be seen in this look.

“The state they returned.. The girl, She was unable to move, the eldest kit and she was stunned, covered in what appeared to be blood and water. The boy, he returned, injured, unable to speak, well any sense. They believe they killed him…” She spoke, unsettled by her own words but seeming to believe them.

Allena looked at her and let out a sigh, “There is always an explanation of things. Children often can't tell us their problems. Trauma hurts them too.” She spoke simply and looked at the kalon, the female's eyes teared up.

“Allena they are suffering. The town wants them dead. Their father is beginning to blame them and I… I am following. They must go so they aren't safe,” She sobbed and Allena lent in and wrapped her arms around her and gently gave her back a pat.

“I will. Yaris won't approve but I will take them,” She said simply and held the Kal in an embrace for a moment before the quickly pulled away and darted for the car, pulling the baby kals out and pressing them in her arms before placing them down to walk, hand in hand, they walked back to Allena.

Allena squatted and looked them over and gave a friendly smile at both of the kals and held her hand out and the girl grabbed Allena’s paw in hers and gave a friendly smile, the boy on the other hand was staring at her, glancing back at his sister often, a clear show of the bond of the siblings.

Before Allena could speak again the woman pushed the baby kalons off her and ran, escaping to the car where she sped off. The girl stared her mother's car down and moved to make a step after her and Allena grabbed her paw and gave a soft, sad sigh, “It's okay honey. It’ll be okay.”

Tears swelled up on the baby girl's eyes as she moved her head against Allena, catching her off guard but quickly wrapped her paws around her body, watching the seemingly empty male kal's eyes as he watched the car leave, “Hey buddy. It’ll be perfect. Okay?”

His eyes darted to her and seemed to ease a little as he noticed his sisters embrace against the motherly Kalon and took a step closer to Allena and sister, watching every moment. The girls eyes watched him, easing him to take another step closer. Allena watched the bond of the siblings for a moment before releasing her and standing, holding out her paws to them, “Are you ready to go?” She said with a smile.

The girl grabbed Allena’s paw fast and seemingly clinged to it, as she had with her mother, Allenas breath faltered as she swallowed a few tears, “How about you?” She held her other paw to him but he grumbled a little and grabbed his sister's remaining paw tightly. Allena gave a nod and they moved to the car. Buckling the pair into her car she turned it on, Swallowing yet more sadness she drove home.
