ABOUT ME
╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗
Heyo! My name is Max and I am currently the owner of two beautiful
Kalons, Luna and City. My hobbies include playing the guitar and
playing tennis. I also really love to read and write, as well as
watching horror movies and photography. My favorite subject
in school has always been English, because I got to read and
write quite a bit. My favorite book currently is Six of Crows by
Leigh Bardugo. It's an amazing book and I seriously consider
reading it! I also really love psychology and hope to get into
something to do with psychiatry when I'm older, since that sort
of thing really interests me. I also consider myself a runner,
because I do enjoy it, although it's really hot where I live so I
normally go on night runs instead of morning runs. I also live
near the beach, so I sometimes grab a friend and go running
along the beach at night when it's all quiet and empty, with just
the sound of waves crashing. It sounds cheesy, I know, but I'm
so blessed to live in such a gorgeous area. Anyways, I truly hope
you enjoy reading through my form! See you!

PERSONALITY
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Korvus has always been a rather honest Kalon. He doesn't mean to come off as rude, but
sometimes he just does. Which is likely the result of his strong personality. He's never been one
to sugarcoat anything. When someone asks for the truth, he'll give it to them. Plain and simple.
On top of being honest, Korvus can also be a very flirtatious and cocky little fella, hiding his
insecurities by throwing out some witty line. Korvus is quite the gentleman, with his British
accent with a hint of Irish in there as well. He's a pretty sociable kalon, and gets fed up rather
quickly as well as being sarcastic as heck during unnecessary and/or awkward situations.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Image
HISTORY
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Korvus was born and raised in a fairly populated tribe, hidden deep in the woods. However,
he ran away once he reached his late teenage years. It's not that he didn't feel like he belonged,
in fact he had a decent amount of friends and even some family, but he was never really that
close to them, so it didn't quite faze him when he left them. The reason he ran away was
because once you reached a certain age, you were assigned a duty for life. Korvus never really
had any strong preferences, but he absolutely despised the fact that he was chosen to be the
medic in training. He didn't care for medicine or bandaging up a hunter who happened to trip
over a twig and hurt themselves. He tried to get out of it, but he realized it just wouldn't happen.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Image
LIKES
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Although it doesn't seem like it, Korvus can be a pretty positive guy sometimes. First off,
he actually really loves water. He loves the way it feels when he just wades around in it. He
loves the sounds of water splashing again a rock. Where he lives, there are plenty of little
lakes and ponds for him to mess around in. On top of that, Korvus absolutely loves writing.
In fact, he keeps a little journal with him to either doodle in when he's bored, or to write
down things down. He often does this when he's stressed and just needs to vent. He doesn't
really like it when others try to snoop around in his journal, though. It embarrasses him.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Image
DISLIKES
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Korvus has never been very fond of large crowds. It's not claustrophobia that bothers him,
but rather all the noise and chatter around him. You'd think a sociable kalon would like to be
around a lot of people, but Korvus likes to be around smaller groups. He just doesn't like the
feeling of too much going on. He's a fairly simplistic kalon. The one thing Korvus dislikes more
than anything else is being told what to do. He wants to make his own decisions, and he hates
when others try to control him. Other than that, Korvus doesn't have many things he strongly
dislikes, other than some small things, such as spiders. He also dislikes really strong smells.

ABOUT THE JOURNAL
Korvus' journal has been a prized possession
of his ever since his mysterious and favorite
craftsman, Luna, made it herself and gave it
to him a while back, before he decided to run
away. The journal's cover is made of thicker,
smoothened wood, while the pages are made
of much thinner wood. It's not the most
perfect looking notebook, but Korvus loves it
all the same. His pen and journal are the only
belongings that Korvus took with him when he
ran away from the tribe. He doesn't just write
in it, however, he also doodles little sketches
in there sometimes when he's bored. Eventually,
he begins to write about his days as a runaway
to feel less lonely and give him "someone" to
talk to. He has never felt very comfortable
about others peeking inside. It's not as if he
has anything to hide, it's just one of those things.
His journal is where he can be himself and he
doesn't have to put on a "sarcastic bad boy" act,
if you will. Below, there are just some of the
journal entries in Korvus' notebooks. There are
actually much more entries and notes and things
in there, but these are the ones written by Korvus
while he was on his "journey." He mostly wrote
these because he was feeling kind of lonely and
just wanted to keep busy.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 1
Alright, so this is my first time writing in one of these things. I've
heard of people using writing as a coping mechanism, so I thought
I might as well give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen?
Besides, I've already stolen a bunch of ink from the leader, and I
found a feather on the ground so I'm good to go with writing
utensils. I must say, it was quite strange though. An odd, lightly
colored kalon with blue eyes just came up to me in the forest and
handed me this thing, then she ran off. I tried to talk to her, but
I don't believe she was interested, because she didn't look back.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 3
So I'm back now, quick, I know, but I just can't stand it anymore.
that crazy medic lady is driving me to the point of insanity, I'm
telling you. I can't take it any more. Sometimes it even gets to
the point where I consider running away and never looking back.
It's just tat no matter what I do, it's never good enough. I can
never go outside of that wretched tree, even if we're not doing
anything, I just have to stand there doing nothing. I don't want
her to train me, and I just want to leave. I might do it. I am
seriously considering just getting out of here.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 5
In all honesty, taking care of myself is quite a big change because
I'm so used to being told what to do and basically being owned by
that tribe. In case it isn't already obvious, I loathe being told
what to do. I don't regret running off, not one bit. In fact, this
is the more freedom I have felt in a very long time. If I have to
see one more willow tree, I will lose it. I also really don't miss
listening to that old medic lady's voice. Although it gets a bit
lonely hearing no voices at all, I'd rather hear no voice than
hers, constantly scolding me as if I'm a child.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 7
You'll never believe what I just found. This could either end really
well or really badly, so this should be interesting. Alright, so I was
just walking aimlessly, not even sure where I was going at that
point, when I almost walked into the mouth of a cave. A pretty big
cave, too. I'm in it right now, and I'd be lying if I didn't say I've been
shouting "echo!" for the past ten minutes. I don't know how long I
will be staying here, but there's plenty of water, and I feel like I
can sleep better in here, so that's good. I'm still worried about
food, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I'll be okay.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 9
It's only the second night in this cave, and I already can't take it.
I actually miss being out in that scorching hot sun, not to mention
I'm kind of starving. So I am going to do it. I'm going to go find
some food, even if it's just a few berries, I need to find something.
I really regret not bringing a canteen or satchel or something to
carry food and water, but there's not way I'm going back. I will
admit that even though I act like everything will fall into place
and I'll be okay, sometimes I seriously question whether or not
that's true, and if I'll actually be okay.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 2
Wow, it has been so long since I've done anything in this. Am I
supposed to apologize to you or something? I mean it's not like
anyone is actually reading this anyway, so I might as well just
begin venting. I can not possibly express how much I hate the
job that was assigned to me. There is not one thing I enjoy about
it. I hate being cramped up in that stupid tree. I would rather
do anything else. Not to mention I'm not even allowed to have
children? I can have a mate, but no children? I can't accept that,
I've always wanted a child. I don't know what to do about this.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 4
I did it. I decided to finally run off. I did do something I regret
quite a bit, though. Harwin actually came up to me the night I
ran away, basically begging me to take him along with me. Little
did he know I wasn't returning. Ever. Problem is, I couldn't tell
him that. I couldn't stand to see his reaction, so I just told the
child that I'm going on a walk and I promised that I would be
back. I promised him. Anyway, I'm going to have to try to get
over it eventually, because now I need to figure out a plan of
what to do. I hope this works out, because I have no more ideas.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 6
I must admit, I'm beginning to get excessively uncomfortable with
the lack of food and sleep deprivation. I can't really complain
about that though, because I'm the one who chose to leave the
comfort of a safe camp. But why should I stay if it made me
miserable? I just want to find some place and be happy, but at
this point, I'm just lucky if I find a place to sleep. It's almost
nightfall, and I am quite close to losing all of the energy left
in my body. I've been able to get water from the streams
nearby, which are quite abundant around here, so that's good.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 8
I don't know how much longer I can do this. I am actually thinking
about going back out there, but it has only been one night. I can
hang on a bit longer. I went on hunger strike once as a child, for
no particular reason, I just wanted to do it. I was quite a strange
child. Anyways, it's much cooler in here than it is out there, so
that's a plus. That's good. It's far too warm out there, I can't sleep
like that. Especially with all that walking, Sometimes I felt like I
was going to faint or get heat stroke. In here, it's cold, but not
too cold. I could complain about the questionable smell, however.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
entry 10
Okay, so this entry will be a rather quick one, but I have a good
reason. So I was getting ready to leave the cave, and all of a
sudden I hear paw steps. They stopped for a little while, and I
need to go out there and see who is out there. I am very afraid
it's going to be someone from camp who hunted me down and
is forcing me to go back, or perhaps a wild predator. No matter
who or what it is, I need to go out there and defend myself. So
I will be hiding this underneath a rock, and assuming I make it
out alive, I'll come back for it. So, farewell, for now. Hopefully.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

What occurs after Korvus's last journal entry is actually told in the story I have written below this
page, but if you want the short version, basically to sum it all up, The one who walked into the
cave is a kalon named Mazie. Korvus and Mazie spoke for a while, exchanging stories about
their homes and lives, she was able to convince Korvus to come back to her camp with her and
maybe even live there, which he did. Korvus and Mazie are now very happy, taking care of the
children in camp. Korvus play-fighting, running around, and playing silly games with them while
Mazie is much more kind and gentle and loving. That doesn't mean she doesn't love to watch
Korvus play around with them, and sometimes she'll even join in after the kids try and convince
her to come and play, to which Korvus joins in and begs her to join in an over exaggerated way
and sometimes even a sly wink. To sum things up, Korvus's life has definitely turned around for
the better ever since he went with Mazie to her camp. Korvus also met Mazie's best friend,
Squilliam, whom he doesn't yet know very well, but he'd like to get to know him. Although
sometimes he expresses a bit of jealousy to which Mazie has to constantly assure Korvus that
Squilliam is just a friend and nothing more, but Korvus still has his doubts. Other than that,
Korvus became pretty involved in Mazie's camp, definitely much more than he was in his old
camp. Truth be told, it's not too far away. It should only take about a few days to get there,
however Korvus does not want to return because he would rather leave his past behind and
move on. Although he doesn't use his Journal as much anymore, he still keeps it with him.

xxx"Steady, Van Wyck. Steady."
Korvus didn't meet the older medic's eyes. Instead, he concentrated on the young, injured kalon in front of him, Baylie. He was quite close with her, so he tried to be as careful as he possibly could. There was just a small cut on her leg from who-knows what, and her eyes were closed as Korvus cleaned up the blood.
"Dab, don't rub."
Korvus grimaced. "I know." he responded, through gritted teeth.
After he was done, he tousled the fur on top of Baylie's head before she left the medic's place. The entrance/exit was more or less a bunch of vines tied to the thick branch of a willow tree above them.
"Good job, Van Wyck, but you didn't clean the blood well enough." said the medic, before turning around, her back facing him.
"I did the best I could." Korvus shot back. "Besides, I could've worked a lot better if you weren't breathing over my shoulder and into my ear the entire time."
They went back and forth like that for quite a while, the older medic shaking her head, constantly disproving whatever he said. It's not like he wanted this stupid job anyway. They could have given him anything- anything else, but no. Instead he had to be stuck under this dumb tree.
Korvus was glad it was getting dark, he couldn't stand to hear this crazy lady's voice one more time. Luckily, he didn't have to sleep in the medic's place until he became fully trained and was able to take her place.
However it's not just her that he can't stand, it's the job itself. It's not that he can't do it, necessarily, it's just so boring to him. Unfortunately for him, once a kalon reaches a certain age, the tribe leader gets to decide what job they are assigned to. Most kalons don't complain, they just take it and leave, but Korvus has been bitter about it ever since. There are plenty of other kalons who wanted this job, so why couldn't they just take it?
Either way, Korvus was ready to go to sleep. But not before he doodled in his journal for a bit, of course.

xxx Many days have passed since then, Korvus getting more annoyed each day, ranting in his journal more and more, before he finally decided that he couldn't take it anymore. He needed to leave. Now. So that night, he did.
With nothing but his journal, Korvus tried his best to stealthily sneak out of the sleeping place, past the leader's place and the medic's place, hearing the snoring of the older medic. Korvus would definitely not miss that sound.
Not long after he'd got out of camp and into the forest, Korvus heard small paw steps padding toward him. He quickly spun around, ready to dive into the bushes and hide.
Harwin.
Korvus had known the little kalon since he could barely walk. Korvus just looked down at him, unsure of what to say.
"Why are you leaving? Where are you going? Can I come?"
A million questions were thrown at Korvus at that moment, before he covered Harwin's muzzle with his paw and pulled him aside.
"You need to be quieter okay?"
Harwin nodded wordlessly.
"You should go back to sleep, Harwin. I won't be out for long."
"But where are you going? Why can't I come?" Responded Harwin, in a hushed whisper.
"'I'm just going on a walk, and I need to be alone, just for a little while. I'll be back though, okay?"
"Promise?" asked Harwin, looking up at Korvus with those bright eyes of his.
Korvus hesitated. "Promise." he lied.
After that went down, Harwin went skipping back to camp, twigs snapping and leaves crunching under his paws loudly. The little guy just could not keep silent, could he? Korvus thought, with a little smile to himself.

xxx It has been 3 days. Three days since Korvus had run off, nothing to eat but a few berries here and there and some stream water to drink. It didn't help that the sun was beginning to set, so he'd have to find a place to sleep soon. Needless to say, he did not feel well. Hungry, exhausted with no where to go. He'd been finding trees and sleeping under them every night, almost missing the comfort of his old camp.
No.
He will not go back there. He can't even show his face over there. He's probably a disgrace by now. But it won't matter, because he'll never go back there.
Korvus's thoughts were interrupted when he stopped dead in his tracks, a giant cave right in front of him. How... convenient. were Korvus's last thoughts before he thoughtlessly strode into the cave, not even thinking about what could be there.
It wasn't that bad, actually. Although it was quite dark and the smell was a bit questionable, it definitely could have been a lot worse. This could work, assuming some dangerous animal has already claimed it. Korvus was in too bad of shape to worry or even care. Before he knew it, he'd collapsed on the floor, sound asleep.

xxx Two more frigid, lonely nights had passed ever since Korvus found the cave. It actually looked quite beautiful, in the morning, with the sunlight shining it, giving the ceiling of the cave an almost sparkling effect.
Korvus considered leaving and contenting his journey- wherever that may be- but he honestly did not have the energy. He just wanted to sleep forever. Although, some food would be nice.
His thoughts were interrupted once again by the echoing sound of 4 paw steps slowly entering the cave. Has he been found?
Korvus wasn't sure he wanted to find out, but he didn't exact have any options. As the pawsteps gew closer, Korvus quickly grabbed his journal and hit it under the nearest rock, mentally trying to remember what that rock and the others around it looked like so he wouldn't forget where he hid his journal.
Korvus had then begun to make his way towards the paw steps. He'll fight them out of here if he had to, there was no way he was getting dragged out of here and back to that wretched place.
And so Korvus stood, awaiting the paw steps, ignoring the dreaded feeling inside his gut. He was no coward. He was not leaving this place.

xxx When the figure had finally emerged, Korvus made eye contact with them. He was left speechless.
It wasn't an intruder at all, it was a... girl. She was carrying an empty bucket with her teeth. The girl stood, eyes locked with Korvus's. She didn't look afraid, or even angry. Her mouth was slightly open, before she took several steps closer to Korvus. Korvus didn't move.
"Are you lost?" The female kalon asked, gently.
"No. Well- not exactly." Korvus stammered, heart racing. He didn't recognize her, so who was she? Should he run?
"It's okay, I'm not going to kick you out. Just tell me your name."
Korvus stood up straighter, slightly relieved. "Korvus Van Wyck." He responded, with a slight teasing grin and a bow.
No reaction. That's unusual. He usually gets a giggle, at the very least.
"Mazie."
"Pleasure to meet you, Mazie." Korvus responded, still grinning.
From there, the two talked for quite a while, Mazie getting comfortable on top of the rock where Korvus stored his journal under. He didn't notice, though. He discovered that Mazie came into the cave to collect water, for her camp, which explains the bucket. He also learned all about how she loves children and is almost always with them, helping them out. Korvus told Mazie about his old camp and why he ran away and all that. He was afraid she would try to convince him to go back, but she was surprisingly understandable.
"I can't blame you, they can't just force you to do something you dislike."
He's usually not one to open to others about his personal life, but Mazie was... different. He wasn't sure what it was, but he felt like he could trust her. He enjoyed talking to her.
So when she offered he come back with her to her camp, just to see how he likes it, he accepted. She assured him that he would be able to do what he wanted, as long as he was somewhat helpful and contributed. She also told him that everybody is really kind and accepting, and constantly welcoming newcomers. It sounded too good to be true, but he didn't care. If Mazie was there, he'll be happy.
And so he went. He must admit that he was quite excited to meet these other Kalons, and he and Mazie did have something in common. They both love children, however Mazie sounded like she was much more gentle with them, whereas Korvus would run around with them and let them tackle him. His heart suddenly ached for Harwin. The way he lied to him was awful, and he couldn't imagine how neglected he must feel after being lied to. Or maybe he thought something bad happened to Korvus.
He couldn't think about that now, however. Harwin will get over it and move on. He will. Korvus needed to focus on his own life. He couldn't live it in misery any longer.
This was his second chance. A chance to start new, and he would not waste it.

Image

xxxShortly after arriving near Mazie's camp area, journal in mouth, Korvus leaped over the last rock before Mazie's tail gently brushed in front of Korvus, reminding him to stop or else he'd go tumbling down the hill. Korvus did had to do a little jog to catch up with Mazie. It's not that Korvus was slow, he just had little to no energy. Once finally caught up the the pink kalon, he stood next to her and looked down.
"Is that...?"
Mazie nodded. "It sure is. Beautiful, isn't it?"
Yes.
Korvus shrugged and smirked. "Not bad."
Mazie snorted and playfully hit him in the chest before taking several strides down the hill. Korvus had to steady himself before following Mazie, praying that he wouldn't tumblr down there and completely embarrass himself. Once he made it down there, he took a moment to admire his surroundings and take it all in. It was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. Korvus saw many children running around, some adult kalons even joining in on the fun. There was a sleeping area, which was almost completely empty, and the rest was pretty much open space. There wasn't much at their camp, but perhaps that's what made it so beautiful.
"Is your leader around?" Korvus asked Mazie reluctantly, afraid that he wouldn't be accepted.
She simply shook her head. "We have no leader. There is no need for one. We all watch after one another, and as long as you're doing your part to help out and you aren't harming anyone, you should be fine." Mazie informed. "Now do you want to meet the others, or not?"
"Actually, I was looking more for where you keep your food." Korvus responded.
Mazie laughed. It was a sweet sound, one which Korvus never got tired of hearing. "I was waiting for you to ask. What, you thought I would've just gotten it for you? Come on!" She exclaimed, before taking a sharp left turn behind the nursery area, Korvus following right behind.

HARWIN
Image
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
{Owned by ege} Harwin and Korvus are so similar in so many ways. Although Harwin is just a
child, Korvus considered him as one of his closest friends. A brotherly bond, if you will. When
Korvus first made the decision to sneak off in the middle of the night, Harwin was still awake
and heard rustling. He got up and wandered into the forest, only to find Korvus trying to sneak
away. After Korvus shut down all of the smaller kalon's questions, he tried to convince Korvus
to let him go with him, but Korvus refused. There was no way he was going to let a child come
with him to who-knows-where. Korvus didn't want to admit that he had no idea where he was
going, however, so he just told Harwin that he's just going on a walk to clear his mind, and he
promised he'd be back. It was a lie. Korvus did not return, and Harwin was heartbroken and
angry that he'd been lied to. Korvus felt remorse and regret after it all went down, and was
slightly worried that he'd tell on him. But Korvus knew better. Harwin was no snitch. Hopefully
he'd get over it soon, because Korvus wasn't planning on returning. Although he did feel remorse
for what he did, he'd do it all over again. He couldn't risk getting caught, and he had to get out
of there. To this day, Korvus still wonders what became of the little kalon and how he's doing.
Sometimes he wishes he could go back and visit Harwin, but he knows that can't happen.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

BAYLIE
Image
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
{Owned by ege} Another little kalon that Korvus was friends with in his old tribe. Korvus loved
to tease and mess around with Baylie. Sometimes he'd call her "Bay," with agitated her to no
end. She'd shoot back at him by calling him "corn." Korvus was proceed to laugh and ruffle up
her fur. Although Korvus and Baylie were never that close- not as close as he and Harwin, at
least, Korvus had always envied how sweet and innocent Baylie was, growing things with her
brother, Lime. Korvus was pretty sure that there wasn't one mean bone in her body. Sometimes
he wonders if Baylie ever got that farm she talked about so often. He loved the way the young
kalon's eyes lit up when talking about it, and the way she occasionally rambled on because she
just wanted to own a farm so bad. Korvus loved to make Baylie laugh, which he often did during
supper. Korvus would make a funny face from across the food, and Baylie would burst out
laughing, snorting out bits of her food, earning her a gentle scolding from her mother. Korvus
has always loved children, however he was much more gentle towards Baylie than the others,
instead of play fighting with her like he did with Harwin. Sometimes, Korvus can't help but
wonder if Baylie misses him ever since he ran away. He just hopes she's doing okay, and Lime is
taking good care of her.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

LUNA
Image
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
{Owned by me} Luna and Korvus had never been so close in the sense that they hung out a
lot, but they definitely knew each other and have spoken several times. The thing is, Luna isn't
exactly a member of the tribe, however she is quite respected because of her talented crafts-
-manship. She is primarily a candlemaker, but she's pretty good with other things too. Honestly,
she can probably create almost anything with the most simple materials. Luna actually created
his journal just from a bunch of wood. How she was able to do that, Korvus has no clue. He's
tried to ask her but she just smiles and walks away. Truth be told, he really doesn't know much
about Luna. Although she doesn't live in camp, she must live close, because he sees her lurking
around sometimes, but not too often. She seems to be more of a secluded, indoor kalon.
Whenever he does see her and goes after her, she just kind of disappears. He never really found
out where the heck she actually lives or what she actually does when she's lurking around. If
Korvus could guess, though, she's probably looking for natural supplies for whatever it is she
wants to create next. Korvus doesn't exactly really know what she sounds like, because all the
times that he has seen her and tried to speak to her, she just smiles and nods. Perhaps she is
mute? Either way, they were never really close, she has always just been kind of a mystery to him.

CITY

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
{Owned by me} City and Korvus have kind of a complicated relationship. Actually, to put it
in better words, he hasn't seen her in at least 10 years. Yeah, she just kind of disappeared off
the face of the earth to him. One day she was in camp, one day she was gone. Nobody knew
where she went, or why she would leave. She was a pretty cool girl and got along well with the
others for being such a young age. Anyways, Korvus knows City because they actually used to
be best childhood friends. There isn't really much else to it. When Korvus was around 9-10
years old, City couldn't have been more than 8 years old at the time. They often played around
together and play fighter quite often, as City was never really a girly kalon. The other female
kalons would often go play with the younger children or help in the medic's place, but City
and Korvus were almost always together- whether it was play-fighting/wrestling, playing tag,
hide and seek, or just simply sneaking around camp and sometimes messing with the older
kalons, they were pretty close. He doesn't remember exactly how they became friends, and
even today, Korvus still wonders what became of City, and how she's doing. At the back of his
mind, he's always slightly afraid that something bad happened to her, but he prefers to push
those thoughts out of his brain, as he prefers not to think of what could have happened to her.

MAZIE
Image
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
{Owned by Honeycomb101} Korvus is easily the closest with Mazie. Korvus met Mazie during
his journey as a runaway, when he was hiding out in a cave for the night. Mazie came in and
convinced him to come back with her to her camp, after exchanging stories and her hearing
about his dilemma and why he ran away. From the moment Korvus saw her, he knew she was
clearly a pretty kalon, and casually found himself flirting with her as if it was nothing. As time
went on and Korvus got to spend more and more time with her, he discovered that he actually
really cares about her, even though he shamelessly flirts with her all the time. He doesn't really
know if she feels the same way about him, but instead of just asking, he just tries his best to
make it blatantly obvious that he's interested. Whether Mazie is just oblivious to the fact, or if
she just chooses to ignore it, is beyond him. Besides that, they're also quite similar in the sense
that they both really love children. Two of Korvus's closest friends back at his old camp were
actually children, and seeing and hearing how she talked about them in that cave just made
him like her even more. He hopes one day she acknowledges the fact that he is interested in
her. It's not that he's too shy to tell her how he feels, he just feels she's just trying to play
hard to get and simply like stealing her. Which she might, but he'll never know, truthfully.

PLAYLIST
Soul Meets Body by Death Cab for Cutie
Run by Snow Patrol
Boston by Augustana
Heaven Forbid by The Fray
Come Home by One Republic
Do Make Say Think by Soul and Onward
Between the Raindrops by Lifehouse
The Man Who Can't Be Moved by The Script
Hymn For The Weekend by Coldplay
On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons

EXPLANATION
I chose these slower, calmer songs towards
the beginning to represent how Korvus
was rather unsure of whether or not he
was making the right choice by leaving
his people. More specifically, the first 2.
By the third song, he's ready to find a new
home. "Boston" is just a metaphor for it.
By the fifth song, Mazie has found Korvus
and he "goes home" with her, feeling like
he finally belongs somewhere.

a series of short, 10-line poems, describing korvus' journey using sensory detail. inspired by edgar allen poe

THE CAVE
I try not to dwell
For I await my imminent death
This I am aware of
I've gotten used to the musky scent
Lonely and rather obscure
But somehow calming
I have wandered too far
But perhaps this is where I lay
Haunted by the faint sound
The sound of my breathing
MAZIE
Stay there! Don't move!
Not a muscle I move
Lonely I am no longer
And oh! of all the pain
All the pain I endured
I foolishly gave in
Come now! home is not far
For my home it is brighter
With the very thought
Thought of a home once more
HOME
Home is not where the heart is
Home is the heart
This I am aware of
I've gotten used to the fresh scent
Lively and rather familiar
But somehow so unfamiliar
I have wandered this far
But perhaps this is where I belong
Blessed by the faint sound
The sound of her breathing

This is my first time ever writing an actual poem in this style. I tried my best to keep it intellectual while also telling a story. I hope it wasn't too difficult to comprehend! I thought it would be kind of cool to repeat the same concept for the first and last poems. Anyways, I hope it's not too horrible!
