The freezing cold wind beats down on my wings, attempting to put out the flames. I scoff, as if these puny winds are going to put my fire out. The lightning lights up like a firework, and the thunder booms as if they are both ordering me to get out of their starry sky. I head their warning and fly into a dark creepy cave that I’ve claimed mine. I land with a soft thump, and my talons scratch the ground making me flinch. I walk deeper into the already dark cave, my bright golden talons scratch the hard stone ground. I approach my soft, pale white feather bed and lay down to sleep, but before the night takes me into its cold embrace of dreams, I shift. Swiftly, my blazing hot wings turn into slender, pale white arms with two small freckles by my left elbow, my sharp talons and legs transform into long, lithe, well muscled legs, my body turns into a thin, but not to thin, unblemished body with a large bust, and my head and long beak transform into a feminine heart shaped face with soft apple red lips and large angled amber eyes. The only sign of my other form is a tattoo on my upper back of two large flaming wings. Phoenix wings. My long, fluffy, golden hair drops down to my knees as I fall into my small bed, my silken, strapless, silver, down-to-my-knees dress hugs my body as I lay down to rest, allowing night’s embrace to take me to its ever changing dreamland.

“I time I thought that would be soon,” Liana whispers into my ear, her voice a comforting melody.
“Where doves would sing and people swoon,” I reply, adding to our song.
“I dance upon the star filled sky,” Liana sings louder.
“My wings drive me ever high,” I again reply, are duet growing louder.
“Do you see, the fire wings, soaring in the sky? The blazing fire laughing above as the tireless cars drive. Twisting, turning, teaching, learning, do you see the phoenix wings? They fly above us this very night while we sleep and sing,” Liana and I sing together, our voices mingle to create a melody so beautiful the very flowers bloom to hear it.
Liana laughs, a laugh that came from her stomach, up her throat, then out her mouth bubbly, “Now, what next?” she asked me in her sweet honey like voice.
“Well, I think it’s movie time?” I quickly shoot a glance at the clock then reply. Liana nods then jumps up from the brown velvety couch to pop some popcorn. After a couple of minutes, Liana returns to out living room with a fresh bag of popped pop corn. The buttery smell fills the entire room, I breathe in the warm welcoming sense, and a large smile reaches from the bottom of my soft pink lips to my coffee bean eyes. We sit together and watch a crime show playing on the plasma as Liana plays with my short black hair, an aura of peace blowing throughout the whole house. Why can’t this night last forever. At the end of the show, Liana decides she’s going to go to bed, so I take over the tv and change the channel to WWE. However, as the people are brawling on the mat, my mind is somewhere else, “What if phoenixes really do exist?” I ask myself out loud, expecting an answer even though no one is here with me. I stay downstairs for a bit longer, then decide it’s time for me to go to bed too.
