||Disclaimer||
Hope I can post in the forum hah- I mean this is pretty writing heavy though. Moreso than I'm used to, that's for sure.
Just a little note saying that I am bound by my word to relinquish any art (and all versions) of this adopt in the event that I don't win. Also early congrats to the winner of this kia, like the colors are divine. ;w; I'm super happy I was able to finish, even if it looks a bit plain compared to the others. I'm only an owner of one kia at the moment, so I'll try my luck this time around!
-apricus, and thank you for taking the time to read~

||. . . Your Silence Speaks a Thousand Words ||
Persona: Mild | Reserved | Just a touch Sardonic | Gentle | Compassionate |
Yasmín is a fairly mild-mannered kia. Mainly due to her upbringing she remains this way: quiet, slow to anger, observant more than outspoken... She loves her parents dearly, but even she can’t deny the strictness they exhibited in her early years. The relationship between the three of them is... awkward now, because of this. Stiff, even. (distance just seems to make her even more eager to get away) For the longest time her reserved nature seemed just a touched forced, but now, as she’s out of her parent’s grasp, she’s... still quiet, admittedly. There is no way that her parent’s method of raising wouldn’t have affected her. She’s resigned to the fact that this quietness of her’s, sometimes a burden, is inbred at this point. But, she’s relaxed. She’s a kia of few words in the way that shows that she’s confident that her voice won’t be stifled when the time calls for it. Not anymore. There are times where she must remind herself of her freedom, but either way, there’s relief in that thought. The weight of childhood is lifted off of her, at long last.
As an everyday kia, Yasmín wouldn’t call herself particularly kind, since even she has tainted thoughts, but an outside observer would see that she doesn’t have a truly mean bone in her body. A bit cynical, no doubt, though she’s never gone out of her way to antagonize another soul. She’s a humanitarian by nature, always willing to volunteer for projects, shelters, animals. Just little things like that. She always has found joy in volunteering, so it’s not like she views it as an obligation. And hey, it served her well in making her look good on her college app.
From a young age, creativity in the arts is what defined her outside of home. She was of course groomed to be what her parents wished her to be (diplomatic, kind, a mediator, know when to keep your mouth *shut* when a man is talking to you, dear you must respect your elders, and a husband wouldn’t want such a mouthy partner you know) but ah, she found joy in her extracurriculars. As long as her parents didn’t know the specifics, she could do what she wanted in her clubs. She adores landscape art and enjoys the aesthetics of the outside world more than anything else, whether it be nature or a candid moment in a small coffee shop. Capturing those pictures to the best of her ability never fails to make her happy. She’s not very good at it since she didn’t have much time to practice while young, but she loves the fact that she can do it so often now. College has its perks, no doubt.
She also played viola in high school though she doesn’t have much opportunity to play it within college unless it involves some type of club. Her creativity allows her to make her own compositions, but they are slow-going and only average a minute or two. She’s not a master in any sense of the word, so they aren’t extraordinary. Art appeals to her more than music, so viola acts as more of a pastime for her. It doesn’t spark the same intensity of just... content like scenery art does.
There are people that she inherently comes to dislike, but she always questions why because she doesn’t interact with those types of people outside of observing their actions and reactions. However, she doesn’t dwell on it. Her rationale is to just treat them amicably as she does with everyone else. There isn’t any use in targeting them emotionally on the basis that she dislikes them. What did they ever do to her? Though, this has much to do with the fact that Yasmín doesn't very many vocal enemies or antagonists herself. She’s not the one to incite much attention to herself, good or bad. And if she does have a few non-vocal enemies, then it’s not like she knows about them if they’re as quiet about their internal ire as she is.
Sensitive to Judgement | Too Quiet? | Unsure | Bottles up | Afraid
There isn’t much to say about Yasmín’s less than savory traits since dwelling on the negative has never been too healthy for her, so she avoids talking about these, or tries valiantly to push past them. Failure honestly doesn’t bother her most of the time. The outcome that she receives in situations is usually what she expects because she’s keenly aware of how much effort or causation she puts into her actions. There is no doubt though that failure hits her keenly though, like needles, when she puts her all into something only to get knocked down. It’s humbling, though not pleasant in the least.
Yasmín is, of course, quiet. A bit too quiet at times, and there has been many a time where she’s been told to speak up. She’s not much of a public speaker, that’s for certain. It leads to her being hesitant about what she wants to say at times, and gathering her thoughts or speaking coherently without some type of prior planning in front of a crowd is terrifying. She’s.. working through it though, the best she can. But she is a bit of a procrastinator, so who knows when she’ll get around to that.
She doesn’t enjoy admitting this, but Yasmín bottles up her feelings until it gets to the point where she likely might just burst. She’s not likely to tell you if she doesn’t want to do something or if she’s feeling particularly off on a given day. Again, this is mostly due to her upbringing. Her parents did always tell her that a proper lady isn’t too emotional. Funnily enough, she comes off as just a bit passive aggressive during these times.
Yasmín also tends to be very sensitive of other’s opinions about her. With negative opinions, it’s difficult to forget or brush them off. It’s easy for such things to stew, and anxiety is a constant companion when she learns of bashing against her. What could she do to change their viewpoints? Is she really not that good enough? Will she ever be good enough? Will they finally decide that she isn’t worth the effort any longer?

||And They Love You For It Anyway. . . ||Relationships: | Parents |
The best way to describe Yasmín's relationship with her parents is rocky. She loves her parents, no doubt, but there is so much undeniable tension between the three of them. Her parents never did lay a hand on her, but she can’t deny that some of their words lent to her insecurities. To this day, she feels as if she needs to please her narrow-minded father above all else and listen to all that her traditionalist mother has to say about being a proper lady. To her knowledge Yasmín is their only child, and it seemed from day one that they groomed her into something that only they wanted to see. While she knew they were only concerned for her success in life, their life track for her consisted of doing very well in high school and maybe college, but not to much since you don’t want to marry too old now do you Yasmín...
Their ideals restricted nearly all of her movements during high school, and as a result she didn’t have many lasting friends before college. It didn’t help that they seemed to move at the most inopportune times... Now in college, her relationship with her parents is tugging at the seams. And it isn’t getting any looser. She did visit her parents over the holidays, but the visit was so strained that it took threats from relatives to reunite the three back again to see each other the following break. Sadly, their relationship just seems to dull as time moves on. Absence really doesn’t make the heart grow fonder. Yasmín, at a standstill in this current moment of time, just doesn’t know what to do.|Myles|
For Yasmín, Myles is the first of many special cases when it comes to her relationships.
To start off, Yasmín is currently in college in her second year, and this year she
decided to start interning in order to become more skillful in diplomacy in real-life
settings, especially in the business world. So, Yasmín applied for an internship in
a business that essentially did jobs for other businesses. Commission work with
anything dealing with visuals, visual art, design... you name it. And her boss
and supervisor ended up being Myles. Yasmín honestly didn't understand that
at first since she thought she would be working under networking or PR/HR,
or even the CHRO. Not the actual CIO who worked directly
under the chairman.
When she first met Myles, she was intimidated. Of course, Myles himself
would later ask what was so scary about someone as literally squishy as
him, but Yasmín wasn't and still isn't very world-wise, and anyone who
was gained automatic respect from her because that was how she was
raised. So, staring up into the face of a 32-year-old CIO who looked
like he could be in his twenties and probably belonged more on the
face of a magazine or on a beachside threw her in for a loop. She
literally could not look him in the eye for a full week and Myles
actually thought she had a crush on him before that was cleared up.
Myles honestly didn’t have high hopes for Yasmín at first since there
was very little he could do with such a soft-spoken girl, but it wasn’t
long before he could see her potential. The informality of the business
he essentially ran with a few others seemed to make her blossom
out of whatever bud Yasmín was ensnared in before. It astonished
Myles in more ways than one, and Yasmín herself couldn’t remember
ever feeling as free as she did while learning the logistics of diplomacy
under Myles’ careful guidance. The people she’s currently meeting
through Myles (a plethora of interesting characters, including Myles’
girlfriend Corinne and his adopted son Caleb, a purgonine of all things)
just seems to add colors to her life she’s never seen nor experienced
before. And honestly, she loves it all.
And the shorthand description of their dynamic is that Myles is
like a big brother to Yasmín, in a sense.

Since her eyes are so light she has moderate photophobia, so
staying outside for long periods or in front of a computer
is hard for her. Though, she loves being outside so that makes
her a bit miffed at times.
She also has weak lungs from infections as a small child
and baby, so she carries around an inhaler sometimes, and the one time
she's gone to China has been her only time so far. She can't breathe
the air in the city very well, especially during the winter.

"If it's alright with you, I suppose that we could take a little bit of time to talk. You did want to know a good bit about me and the info up top explains me pretty well (even I have to admit) but there are a few things that weren't mentioned."
My Parents
"My parents are Persian. Or at the very least heavily mixed with Persian and Iranian descent- dark hair and light eyes have always run in my family for as long as I can remember. Those two are also firm believers in reincarnation. They actually based my name off of an Arabian prince from long ago. It's odd to think about now, but I think they thought that by naming me after this prince, his spirit would live on in me or something to that degree. You know, I don't know really. I could never wrap my head around spiritual stuff.
The prince's name was Jasmin. There's actually a legit storybook from my childhood about the guy, or at least based on him, that I could show you sometime in the future. The unabridged version is long though, like Eragon tetralogy long. I suppose I could relay the unabridged version to you another day, haha.
My Clothes
And I know you're staring at the hijab I'm wearing. Don't worry, I don't care nearly as much as you think I do. I wear it a lot more informally than most women, and at this point, it's more of an accessory than an obligation. Now that I'm in college, it's a rare occurrence if I ever actually put it on. I do like wearing the hijab though. It's... familiar.
Internship
Yeah, there isn't much to say about me, to be completely honest. I'm doing fine in college right now. Reminds me of high school really except that the work-load kinda tripled hah. The only thing really different is that my parents aren't breathing down my neck and my internship. Ho wow, there is actually a bunch to say about my internship. My boss is in a category of his own sometimes, but the characters there are a surprising bunch. It's nice, honestly, but it's so unpredictable whenever I step into their building. Like, I am unpaid right now, but gosh is it worth it like you walk through the doors and hear an actual crash and boisterous laughter in the distance and you just know today is gonna be good and- ahem. Yeah, well, that's that, haha.
Anime
"Oh, yeah, I mentioned that up top huh? Yeah, so I didn't actually know anime was even a thing until maybe five or six months ago. One of my classmates showed me Ouran, and I think it's pretty cute so far. Gotta say though, the art is like a weird-different, but I think that's just because this is my first time seeing stuff like this. The way there isn't much lip-synching is odd (just kinda flapping their mouths), but I guess that's understandable if it was dubbed and the original is Japanese.
It's endearing though, and I think I'm ending the series soon so I'm gonna see what else is out there, hopefully. I really enjoy it, and I'm probably gonna watch 'Sailor Moon' next, or whatever my classmate said it was called, hah. You have any other recommendations?"
