On a school trip of about fifty students and a few staff were
headed to costa rica. the plane wasn't flying straight, and the pilot mumbled
some words before everything went blank. everything is missing; except for
twelve students. they've landed on an island, and are the only ones who've survived
the crash. the island is large and clearly there is no civilization here. they begin to
wake up and wonder where they are. it may be a struggle to survive alone, but
you never know what can happen.. especially in a world full of surprises.

there is no cell service, but the plane is nearby. it's not on fire which is good,
considering all the luggage and some food is inside. the only sounds to be heard
are noises from mysterious creatures, and the large waterfall in the distance.

the island looks like nothing you've ever seen before. it's new, and there are some
animals you never knew could exists. giant feline creatures, miniture wolf-type mammals,
and the most creepy-looking birds that probably should not even be alive. and you don't
even want to see the insects and spiders on this island, you may freak just a little bit.

Cold. She didn't know anything, really, but she could only feel cold. The blurred images inside her mind were turning into clear pictures now. Echoed sounds of screams and crying, the painful moans, then silence. Her eyes fluttered open and it was still dark, maybe she went blind in the crash or something. But once she turned her head she put all the pieces together, it made sense. Yet at the same time it didn't make any sense at all. Rubber her eyes, she sat up and looked at sleeping bodies around her, at least she hoped they were sleeping. The moon was bright and full, a cloud of smoke lifted to the sky from the plane. She forgot a lot of things, and she couldn't remember why she was on a plane with these... "Who," she said out loud in confusion of it all. Rubbing her forehead, she finally remembered her name. "Gabi," she laughed, "How did I forget my own name?". She looked around, and her best friend wasn't here. There were only ten, no, eleven other people with her. There had to be at least forty students on that flight, she thought. But she didn't even care, she didn't remember, it was pointless. Gabi fell back onto the soft sand and closed her eyes, she heard sounds in the trees near her, but gave it no thought. Her eyes just closed as she drifted to sleep again.

The sun came up now and everybody slowly woke up. Devon was the last one to wake, she was smart, but never cared enough to put in effort. Everybody stared at her when she got up. "What are you all looking at, and where the heck," she paused and glared at them all. After a few minutes of more silence she saw the plane and realized what had happened. She wasn't weak, so she didn't cry or even get really sad at all. If anything, Devon was angry. She didn't like half these people and now she's stuck with them. But there was one guy she was okay with, her boyfriend, Boston. Devon crawled over to him and held his hand. Boston leaned over to give her a kiss but not soon enough, "I'm starving," Devon said loudly. She jumped up and brushed the sand off of her black skinny jeans and walked over to the plane. She rummaged through and found one of her bags stuffed with snacks and drinks. "Who wants some!" she offered to everybody. But apparently no one was in the mood for Doritos and Mountain Dew. She shrugged and took the bag over to Boston and they ate in silence. Devon rolled her eyes at him and making eye signals that basically meant, All these losers should just leave, even though they obviously couldn't go anywhere.

It was probably around noon now, and everybody was finally talking. The guys and Devon where all eating and just talking like nothing even went wrong. Some of the girls where laying down just asking questions to each other, and then there was Gabi; alone. She had her feet in the ocean as she listened in on everybody's conversations. She wiggled her toes deep into the cold, wet sand and then realized something she knew she was forgetting. Her best friend, Lexi, wasn't here. She held back tears but she could feel a lump in her throat coming to the realization that Lexi had died in the crash. She rested her head down on her knees and knew that she would never see her best friend again, or her family, or anybody back home. We're gonna be stuck here forever, and what's the point? she thought to herself. She started to let tears run down her face but for some reason she didn't feel sad. She only felt worried and confused, like maybe this was some kind of dream... well, more like a nightmare.

Tripp and Hudson were the first to head off into the jungle. But you couldn't even call it a jungle, it was just a bunch of tangled up vines and leaves, really. The only path to get through were made by animals and they weren't over five feet tall. The two boys had to crawl if they wanted to follow the animal paths, there was no point in trying to stay clean as it wouldn't last long at all. An opening appeared; it was small. "Let's get some sticks first," Hudson spoke in a serious tone, he was getting really annoyed by all this nature. Tripp mumbled something about Hudson but he just ignored it, because they were on a mission. Make a fire. It might seem easy, but it clearly rains often on the island, because all the leaves where damp. Hudson was pulling small trees out of the ground, stumbling every time the roots finally became loose and came out of the muddy jungle floor. "What's the last thing you remember?" Tripp asked, out of breath. Hudson sighed, "Why does it even matter? It's not like we can go back. We're gonna be on this stupid island for, like, ten years. But," He turned to look at Tripp's shocked face, "Shut up". Tripp squinted because he didn't even say anything, but he decided that Hudson wasn't a great person to have a decent conversation with. "We have enough. let's go," Hudson was already on his knees crawling back to the shore. Tripp mumbled some more rude things about his friend as he followed close behind.

Olive, Bianca, and Lauren were digging in the sand while talking about how excited they were for the Costa Rica trip they would've been on right now. They talked about how much money it was and how they had to wait over a year, then this is what happened. "I knew I shouldn't have even come on this dumb trip, but.. ugh," Bianca complained as she flipped her long blonde ponytail behind her shoulders. Olive and Lauren nodded in agreement and then said some stupid inside joke they made in eighth grade and they all laughed. "Maybe this isn't a bad thing, you know," Olive proclaimed, she sat up straight, "We can each have a boy friend now, six and six. It matches up.. I call Spencer though." They all laughed again and talked about who would be with who if they ever needed to make that choice. Lauren was always the last one to stop laughing, and you could tell it was her by her obnoxious squeaky laugh. Gabi looked over at the three friends having a great time, then looked over at Devon and Arie who were laying around in their swimsuits. She rolled her eyes and wanted to talk to somebody, but she didn't know any of them close enough to start a good conversation. Gabi jumped when she heard the Hudson and Tripp come out of the Jungle. Gabi knew how to start a fire, so she walked over to Tripp to tell him. She's gone to school with him since first grade, and he used to have a kid-crush on her. But things changed. In middle school they were friends for a while, but when freshman year of high school started he pretty much never even looked at her. Gabi smiled and gave Tripp and awkward wave. "Need any help? Because you know I can start a fire," She said with her head down as she giggled a little. Gabi wondered if he remembered the time when she accidentally started a firework in Tripp's garage. "I don't know," Tripp said with a concerned look on his face. Gabi's smile faded when he spoke. "As long as the fire department doesn't come this time," He laughed and signaled her to come help. Gabi was relieved that Tripp was talking to her again, she was glad he remembered the good times they had together. Maybe I do have a chance here, without being a complete loner, a small grin appeared at the thought of her and Tripp being friends again.

Once the fire was started, they waited for it to get larger by getting their bags out of the destroyed plane. Ashby and Reid grabbed all the missing student's luggage too, just in case they needed it for extra supplies. Once they were finished everybody sat around the glowing fire in a circle, this order; Tripp, Gabi, Olive, Lauren, Bianca, Arie, Devon, Boston, Ashby, Reid, Spencer, and Hudson. They told stories, and they all laughed together. It was pretty fun, and at this time they felt good. Even though this was only day one, at this time it seemed things were going to be okay. And maybe everything works for a reason, because it didn't seem all too bad. It was getting late though, it was around 10:00 pm. With time, it also got colder. Hudson shushed everybody before he spoke, "We all need to sleep with somebody else, to keep warm. I don't want anybody to freeze to death. I know we have blankets but we don't have enough for everybody, so y'all need to share. Get your partners now, please... to be safe." After some problems were resolved they made the conclusion that you can't sleep with the same gender, because some people really didn't like that idea. So all the partners were then figured out; Devon and Boston, Olive and Spencer, Lauren and Reid, Arie and Ashby, Bianca and Hudson.The only two without a partner were Gabi & Tripp. Tripp looked at Gabi, he rose his eyebrows in question. She shrugged and they grabbed the last blanket and went to lay down on a spot in the sand. Hudson was right though, everybody was warmer this way. Everybody fell asleep fast, and nobody had a problem with the new system.

It was 5:00 am. Devon woke up and rubbed her eyes from a loud noise. She saw a large cruise ship in the distance and looked around to see if anybody else heard it. She watched it pass by in the distance as she glared at it and smiled. She laughed and went back to bed...

It was morning now, the first real morning. Gabi woke up, forgetting about it all. She turned her body to get in a more comfortable position, but when she finally opened up her eyes all the way, Tripp's face was right in front of her. She got up and swiped the sand off her clothes. She stared at him a while before she shook her head and walked to her things. She pulled out some clothes and walked behind a wall of vines to change. She was finished getting dressed, so she picked up all the clothes she'd worn the previous day. She stood up and when she turned around Hudson was standing right there. Gabi gasped and dropped her dirty t-shirt, "What the heck are you doing, creep," Gabi scolded him as she walked back to the shore. Hudson followed her back and waited for her to talk to him genuinely. "What do you want," she finally spit out, putting her dirty clothes back into her suitcase. Hudson smiled, "I'm glad you asked." Gabi made a confused face and nodded her head waiting for him to continue. "Come with me," Hudson was very straight forward. Gabi glared at him, "No," she said, "I'm not going with you. You're gross, and you're creepy." As Gabi walked away Hudson grabbed her arm, "You're coming with me, I need your help." Gabi looked back at Tripp who was still sleeping. She rolled her eyes and motioned Hudson to start walking.

Everybody was waking up, and they starting digging through their bags to find food or water. Ashby looked at the ocean, and then at everybody complaining about being dehydrated. "Guys, you're are all idiots," He yelled at everybody to get their attention, "The ocean. It's water. We drink that, it's pretty obvious." Ashby walked over to where the water and sand meet. Every one else was holding in their laughter to see how Ashby would react to the salt water. Ashby made his hands into a cup and scooped up the water. "You're about to see something called... water, folks," he said trying to amaze his audience. He drank all the water from his hand, right before he started to scream and cry for real water and frowned at everybody for a few seconds- then it all went insane. Everybody laughed and offered Ashby some real drinks but teased him about it afterwards. Tripp was laughing but it faded when he realized something was missing, or maybe someone. "Where's Gabi?" he asked as everybody's laughter soon died down. Then Bianca noticed that her partner wasn't there either. "Yeah, and Hudson, he's not here," she said with worry in her voice. Tripp became furious, but he didn't know why. Things popped into his head about Gabi being alone with Hudson, who always got what he wanted. It couldn't be, he thought, that would never happen... Why do I even care this much... I don't... I... The things he thought wouldn't get out of his mind. "Where is she. Somebody, tell me. Now!" he yelled pacing around the shore looking behind all the trees and vines. They all stared at Tripp, in shock because he usually was never angry... or loud. They whispered about him as he ran into the jungle.

"Where are we going?" Gabi asked. She was getting concerned why Hudson even wanted her help. He wasn't a good guy, and everybody knew that. "Just wait," Hudson said without even looking back at her. She thought about it, I made a mistake.. I want Tripp... What no I don't... Yes I do.. Mind, shut up, you don't know anything. Gabi got worried as if somebody could hear her thoughts, she didn't want to like Tripp. No, this is bad. You can't love your ex-bff. That's... aw it's so romantic... NO. IT ISN'T. If I could stop thinking about him I would but... She sighed. "Can you... be quiet you little idiot," Hudson said it more as a command than a question, because there wasn't really more than one answer for her. After some more walking he finally talked again, "We're here." She looked around, they were on a high cliff, and below was a crystal-clear pond and the huge waterfall she'd seen when she first woke up on the island. She started to smile, but then she saw Hudson's face, and she frowned again. Why did he bring me here... hmm... kinda scared... what the... uhh, she was concerned about why he wanted her help now. "Why are we here," She said as she slowly backed away from the edge of the cliff. Hudson looked right into her eyes and made an innocent face. "Gabi I've wanted to say it... but-" he paused when he heard movement in the trees. "It's just an animal," Gabi said rolling her eyes, "keep talking, please." Hudson continued, "Right, but what I have to say doesn't require talking." Gabi was confused, and she didn't like his vibe or the way he was talking. It didn't seem normal for him to be like this. She was lost in her thoughts, like usual, but she finally realized what was happening. Hudson was leaning in closer to Gabi. Oh my... god... He's going to kiss me... No, I hate this kid. I'd kiss anybody else... really... But not Hudson, he's disgusting. She didn't know what to do so she just closed her eyes and leaned back, farther away from him. It was a few seconds longer and she then heard Hudson scream. She opened her eyes and saw him fall into the pond below. Hudson was fine, he was swimming out of the pond, yelling swear words as he crawled out of the deep blue water. Gabi didn't know what pushed him down, until she spun her whole body away from the edge. She just stared in disbelief.

"Tripp... You could've killed him!" Gabi exclaimed. She was in shock, why would Tripp do that? Hudson is his friend, and all he did was... "Why'd you do that," she was shaking her head. Tripp sat next to her, "He was going to kiss you, and it probably would've gotten out of control. I know Hudson, I know what he's like and what he does." Gabi was still lost, "Why do you care so much anyway, Tripp, you've ignored me for the last three years so why do you even care?" Tripp kept his lips sealed, and looked towards the dense jungle trees. "Answer my question Tripp, or just forget it. I'm not dealing with you right now," Gabi stood up and walked down the path. Tripp ran after her, "It's not easy to say it. You can't just plain out tell somebody you love them. It doesn't work like that, Gab," Tripp stood and stared at her before she responded. Gabi stopped walking and she could feel her face get red. Without turning around she said, "If you love me so much why didn't you ever talk to me since we started high school? You left me all alone and you always ignored me." She turned around and crossed her arms. They stood in silence, until Tripp answered, "Because that's when I realized I didn't want to be your friend," he paused. "Seriously, pfft, I'm so done," Gabi started to walk back. "Gabi, wait!" He yelled, "I didn't want to be your friend because I was in love with you, and I didn't want to have to talk to you and be with you if you couldn't know how I really felt. So I thought if I just stayed away, my feelings would go away." She walked up to Tripp and frowned, "You made a mistake Tripp, rule number one, never ignore a girl you like. That's stupid." He smiled, "Yeah I know, I am pretty stupid." They laughed together, but Gabi still wasn't amused. "Tripp, if you would've told me this sooner you wouldn't have had to almost kill your best friend," She chuckled and stared at her feet. "Let's go back down to the shore," Tripp grinned and offered Gabi to hold his hand, "I'm glad you're okay".

Devon and Boston were wearing their swimsuits and splashing each other in the ocean. Olive, Bianca, and Lauren were in their swimsuits too, but they were laying in the sand talking and tanning. All the other guys were playing with a beach ball somebody had brought along. Hudson was sitting on a towel reading a book with his expensive sunglasses on. Tripp and Gabi looked over at Hudson once they got back, they shrugged. "I'm going to go check up on him," Gabi said, "Hey Hudson.. are you okay?" Hudson lowered his sunglasses and replied, "What do you think? I could've died." Gabi nodded, then it was just awkward and silent. "Were you going to kiss me?" She let it out, just to make sure that's what he was actually doing. Hudson gave his creepy laugh a try and said, "Yeah, because your hot," he just kept laughing. Gabi rolled her eyes and walked back to Tripp. "You're right, he is a jerk... Why are you even his friend? You're nothing like him," she said tilting her head. Tripp sighed, "If you really want to know, it's because when I lost you as a friend I had really low standards," they laughed at grabbed some sticks nearby to start a fire for the night.

Hudson called everybody over when the fire was started, "Guys, we have to talk about something. A few things actually," He glared at Tripp and Gabi who weren't listening to him. Hudson put his hands on his hips, and starting clapping obnoxiously to get their attention. Once they all got comfortable in their spots he began, "Okay. So first of all, If we see anything that could help us, like planes, helicopters, boats, or whatever, we need to get an SOS going! In the morning tomorrow I want somebody and their partner to write a huge SOS in the sand, just in case. Then I want another group to also collect a bunch of wood and sticks so we can start a fire to get attention to us." Hudson looked around nodding and making sure everybody was listening. "Also, I want to restrict all relationships with your partners. That's all! To-da-loo!" Hudson got off the suitcase he was standing on and walked to the pile of snacks to get something to eat. "Hudson, you aren't the leader you can't make rules without our opinions first," Arie said. All the teens agreed with her. "You can't control how we live and especially our relationships," Boston yelled, he walked up close to Hudson and held up his fist, "If you think me and Devon will stay apart for your dumb little rules, we won't. I will bash your face in. Got it kid?" Hudson swiped his hand through his thick hair, "Listen guys," he said in a sincere sounding voice, "I just don't want ya'll to get crazy, if you know what I mean." He winked and went back to his spot in the sand to drink a juice box he found. Everybody complained about Hudson's new rules until they headed to bed. "Come on Bianca, let's go to bed, babe," Hudson said laughing. "I'm not sleeping with you, Hudson. You're gross," she said as she buried her feet in the sand. Hudson glared at his partner, "Sleep with me, or you'll regret it, sweetie." Bianca made a gagging noise, "Sweetie? See you're such an idiot. No, I will not sleep with you. Not ever again." Hudson shook his head as if he was ashamed of her, "Well, then I guess you won't sleep with me again." He grabbed an object out of his bag, "Bye Bianca."
