The Girl Who Lived ( not complete )

Postby PenguinObsession » Fri Jan 24, 2014 10:34 am

{ Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters besides Avery Potter. Any reviews are more then welcome :) but please PM them to me I DO NOT want anyone posting on here until the story is over. Also unlike most Veela stories the pair wont be jumping into bed first thing. I want to add a real story to this so it is useless PMing me asking me to speed up }

{ This is rated PG-13 for language and violence but there will be NO sex scenes. There will be sex but I'm going to skip it so if you are looking for that I'm sorry you're not going to get it. I also tend to write in a lot of detail so things will go pretty slow and I'm expecting there to be 80+ chapters so this story will not be over any time soon }

This is a fanfiction related to Harry Potter but I put my own spin on it. In this story Draco Malfoy is a Veela. His mate to be is none other than the Girl who Lived, Avery Potter, but her older brother Harry isnt too pleased about the new turn of events. Not to mention the prophecy stating Harry would have to kill the Dark Lord has a tiny flaw. With all of this in their way and so much more how will the young couple survive?

That Night

Postby PenguinObsession » Fri Jan 24, 2014 10:38 am

That Night

It was a clear warm night in Godrics Hollow. The sky was clear and the stars shined in the sky. It was just like any other summer evening. The Potters had just put their young daughter and son to bed and, were sitting in the living room happily taking a long needed break. James sat with his arm around Lilly laughing happily. His dark raven colored hair shot out in several directions giving him the look as if he just got out of bed. Lilly laid her head down on her husbands shoulder. Compared to his jet black hair Lilly's fire red hair stood out like a firework. A lovely smile graced her lips and her laugh seemed to fill the whole house. Her eyes looked like emeralds and no matter the light they always seemed to shine and sparkle.

Suddenly there was a loud crash and the front door flew off of its hinges. Through the smoke a man with a wicked grin on his face stepped into the cottage. His eyes were formed out of the depths of darkness and could suck the happiness out of a room with a glance. "Potters." He hissed. The parents were on their feet in seconds armed with their wands. With out a second thought the pair snapped into action.

James threw a hex at the man, who easily blocked it with his shield. Not giving rest James relentlessly threw every hex he could think of at the intruder. He yelled for his wife to collect their children and run. Every part of her was screaming to stay with her husband but quickly left to try and save their children. Behind her she saw a flash of green and heard a thump. A single tear rolled down her cheek as she knew she had just lost the only man she would ever love.

Lilly stumbled into the room and over to the bed in the corner. There slept her two children. One a little girl, Jame's princess, named Avery who was only 5 months old. Next to her slept a little boy, her knight, Harry who was a year and 7 months. With trembling lips she bent down to kiss both of the sleeping angles, her tears hitting the blankets that covered them. A creak behind her told her she was no longer alone. Lilly wiped her tears and stood putting on her bravest face even though she knew she would never see her children again.

"Oh Lilly if only someone could save them. They would have been beautiful." He purred in a satanic voice. Lilly felt fury run through her veins like fire. She brought up her wand and threw a slew of hexes trying anything she could think of. The man easily blocked them, steadily walking towards the woman. Her grabbed her arm with one had and wiped a tear away with the other.

"Don't cry dear, you'll see them soon." His dark almost black eyes met her brilliant green ones. A smirk graced her lips causing him to tilt his head to the side.

"You'll never win Riddle." She spat, cold fury in her breath. She spit at him leaving saliva on his neck. He gave a face of pitty to her. "Oh dear your mistake." He put his wand to her head and whispered those 2 words that death always follows. There was a flash and the mother fell to the ground.

Riddle went to the children. His eyes grazed over the sleeping girl who was curled up against her brother. The wisps of raven black hair to match her fathers could already be seen. When his eyes fell on the boy a stunning green pair gazed back up. The small child sat up and looked at his mother. "Mommy..." He spoke curiosity in his voice.

Even though his heart wasn't whole he could feel it break a little. He was still human. Closing his eyes he pointed his wand at the pair. "Avada Kedavra." He said in a hushed tone. There was a flash of green and then he felt pain surge through his body. He screamed in pain and fell to the floor. The boy looked down at the man wondering what had happened with his tiny mind. He curled up next to his sister holding her close. "Avery..." He whimpered and then he started to cry.

Life Ever After

Postby PenguinObsession » Fri Jan 24, 2014 10:53 am

Life Ever After

After that horrid night when both of their parents were stolen from them, young Avery and Harry went to live with their Aunt and Uncle. Life was difficult at the Dursley's for the pair. They weren't wanted and considered freaks because of where they came from. But things weren't as hard for Avery as they were for poor Harry.

The small girl grew up to have long jet black curls that reached just passed her shoulders. Her eyes matched her mothers as they were the same emerald shade. Avery was small and stopped growing around the 4th grade. The tallest she ever got to be was 5 foot 1 which was much smaller than everyone else at her school. Her Aunt tended to spoil the little girl like the daughter she had always wanted and often tried to believe Avery was hers and not her wicked sister's. Her Uncle however still believed Avery to be a rat like her brother and parents.

Harry was almost identical to his sister save that he was a boy. His raven colored hair was just as unruly as his fathers had always been. His eyes matched the stunning shade of green that his sister had. Harry had never been the tallest boy in his class but her was considerably taller than his sister coming in at 5 foot 10. Both his Aunt and Uncle thought he was the child from hell and wanted nothing to do with him. If it wasn't for his sister Harry believed the pair would have shipped him off to the nearest orphanage long ago. They often screamed and yelled at him for the smallest of things and his punishments were cruel and swift.

When ever Harry was being yelled at or punished his sister just walked in her calm quiet self and things seemed to settle down. She never had to come to his defenses because with there there the anger just seemed to melt away. When ever he was scared , sad or angry just holding his sister made him calm and relaxed.

Even though she was given the spare bedroom Avery would often sneak down to the cupboard under the stairs where her brother stayed to sleep.

When the half giant came telling the pair they where wizards you could believe the shock of the two. Since Harry was 11 he could go to Hogwarts but Avery was only 10 so her brother would have to leave her behind. Refusing to leave his sister with the poor excuse they had for a family Avery was sent to live with the Weasleys who had a daughter her age named Ginny.

Avery spent a happy year with her new family becoming fast friends with Ginny. While her brother was off risking his life Avery learned about her new world and got to catch up on the childhood she had missed.

Both of the children are known for their legendary scars. Harry's which is far better known is placed on his forehead. Avery's however was placed on the right side of her neck, neatly covered by her midnight ringlets.

Her

Postby PenguinObsession » Fri Jan 24, 2014 11:54 am

Her

Bright blue eyes scanned the Great Hall hungrily, but they weren't looking at the food. Each face was scanned hoping and praying that he might see her. Blaise Zabini rolled his eyes and put a firm hand of the blonde's shoulder sitting him back down. "Draco you have to calm down, people are starting to stare." He said in a hushed tone. Draco gave a snarl in response. He didnt know how this felt. He could feel her so close to him. She was just out of his reach. Her smell was driving him nuts. Every breath he toke was assaulted by the smell of roses, honey, and snow. All delicate beautiful things just like her.

Draco jumped when he felt a hand on his back. Turning his eyes met the onyx ones of the Potions Master. Giving his godson a nod he released his shoulder and toke a step back. Quickly the mate hungry Veela stood trying as hard as he could to keep his composer. It had been announced the day before that Draco was a Veela and the school was given a potion to make them immune to his allure. So when he stood and started peering around the tables it was understood what was happening. Several Slytherins watched him with eagle eyes, all wanting to know who their leader chose.

Taking a breath Draco eliminated the Slytherins though that wasnt much of a shock. On the inside he was thankful because none of the girls in his house were his cup of tea. Gliding by the Hufflepuff table, his robes bellowing at his feet, Draco toke another breath. He felt a knot break away in his stomach as the scent stayed faint. She wasnt a Hufflepuff thank god. More eyes were following him now and half of the Great Hall was silent. The young Veela quickly stepped up to the Ravenclaw table. The scent was stronger but she wasnt one of the birds. Of course he would get stuck with a Gryffindor but at this point he just needed to see her. By this point every pair of eyes were trained on the young Veela, including the teacher's.

When he came to the Gryffindor table he was met with a strong wave of her scent and loathing eyes. Each girl he walked past gave a breath of relieve thanking the Founders it wasnt them. Draco started to walk faster as he got closer to her. Finally he came to a halt at the far end of the table in front of his two biggest fans. Harry and Ron gave Draco looks of pure hatred but Draco didnt notice them his eyes were on the girl between them. Between them sat a 6th year who's nose was buried in a Muggle book. By this point the entire Great Hall was silent and all eyes were on them.

A loud rip of clothing echoed through the room and two large wings came from Draco's back. They looked like the feathers were dipped in the depths of darkness. Each silken feather shined in the candle in the Great Hall. Finally green eyes looked up from her book curious about the silence. She looked at her brother and then Ron confused by the looks on their faces. The green orbs then gazed at the faces Hermione and Ginny. The other 6th year girl's face was that of pure shock and the 7th year girl's jaw was open. When her eyes finally fell where everyone else's was, a look of worry not hatred appeared in them.

"Draco are you alright?" Avery said in a hushed tone true worry in her voice. Blue eyes filled with love and yearning looked back at her. Setting her book down Avery stood and rushed to the other end of the table. She laid a gentle had on the boy's arm. "Draco come on i'll take you to th..." Her words were cut off by the Veela wrapping her in his arms and his wings blocking her from view. Avery heard two people stand as soon as she was out of sight.

"Let her go." She heard her brother growl. Even with her brothers threatening order the arms around her didnt loosen and the wings didnt move. Unlike her brother Avery wasnt mad and she wasnt scared. She heard others come forward and then a mumble. Reluctantly the Veela pulled back his wings to bring back into view a perfectly calm Avery but the arms around her didnt let go.

"Why don't we go to my office?" said the voice of Dumbledore. Avery looked suddenly to her right to see Snape, Dumbledore, and the Head of her House standing by the pair. Avery toke the hands of Draco and led him forward the trio and four of her classmates following close behind.

~~~~~~
The group sat in the Headmaster's office only four of them relaxed. "So it seems that Mr. Malfoy as found his mate if I'm not mistaken." This comment led to Harry and Ron quickly on their feet.
"There is no way I'm going to let my sister be with that snake!" Harry yelled shooting the Veela a glare.
Ron gave a nod in agreement. Avery had become his little sister and he felt as strongly about this as Harry did. "He's a bloody Malfoy! Knowing him he will just take him to The Dark Lord so he can use her to get Harry." He yelled his face starting to get red.
"Mr. Weasley if you would pay even the slightest bit of attention in class you would know a Veela is unable to harm their mate." The silent Potions Master said in his monotone voice. Harry and Ron still didnt back down.
"No I wont allow it. She is my sister I should get some say in this!" Harry yelled again. Suddenly the since then silent Veela stood.
"And she is MY mate Potter! You cant stop this!" He snapped back. Before either boy had the chance to comment a sudden wave calmness hit them both. The young Potter stood her eyes closed taking a deep breath. A small smirk came to the face of Dumbledor. "I always forget little one that you can do that." He whispered. Opening one eye the girl gave him a small smile and then went back to bring peace to the divided room.
Taking a deep breath she looked at the three boys sitting in front of her. Her steely gaze set on her brother and Ron and both gave a gulp. "Now you listen here Harry James Potter! It is not like Draco had any choice in this. I have been his mate since he was born nothing could have change that and nothing will change that. If you try to do anything to stop this you will be sorry." Her voice rang with fury in each cord. Her brother blinked but didnt say a word. Her gaze turned to the red head.
"Now Ronald Bilius Weasley yes he is a Malfoy thank you for pointing this out. Just because he has a last name doesnt mean he is evil from birth. This stupid family feud between the two of you needs to stop. What ever happened didnt happen to you so why carry someone else's anger? We are suppose to be trying to stop this war and so far you are only contributing! Let the madness stop here before you pass hatred onto your children before they have a chance to use their own voices!" The boy looked up at her knowing that her words were true.
Giving another calm breath she sent out another wave to calm the people she had just stirred up. Unlike all of the others Avery had never hated the Slytherins or Draco. The young girl was very mature for her age and could find the good in anyone. Just because people before her hated someone didnt mean she was going to.
Finally the green orbs met baby blue ones. "Now Draco please explain what will be happening now since I am your mate." Her voice was soft and gentle opposite from the tone she had with her brothers. Before either could protest she sent them a glare that would rival Snape's. All three of the teachers had a smirk on their lips. None of them had expected this from the girl but then again she had always been much more open minded then her piers.
The Beginning
Postby PenguinObsession » Fri Jan 24, 2014 2:12 pm
The Beginning
The group walked down the back halls of Hogwarts where the privet rooms were located. The Headmaster stopped infront of a painting that had a unicorn painted on it. "Good morning Danika." He said in a soft voice. The unicorn gave a whiny and shook her mane. "Adiana Elita." With those words the portrait swung forward relieving the room behind it. One by one the pod filed into the room looking around at the decor.
Avery gave a nod admitting that it was tasteful. The front room had a large black leather sofa with purple and silver throw pillows. Two silver arm chairs were on either side facing the dark coffee table in the center. An intricate rug that had all three colors lay on the floor. The stone walls were decorated by several paintings of large fields under the moon. She had no doubt that was so the unicorn could tell them if someone was at the door.
On one of the walls there were two open doors. "These will be your bedrooms." Dumbledore said putting emphasis on the s in the word giving Draco a sharp look. The blonde blushed slightly bringing Avery closer to his chest, which got a small growl out of Harry. "Each room has their own bathroom so there will be no need to share." The wizard said. This let Harry breath a little better. At least his sister wouldnt be put into any situations with the creep that would escalate.
"We will have the house elves move your things down here right after breakfast so you wont have any need to do that." The Headmaster pulled out two little bells from one of his many pockets and handed one both to the green eyed beauty and to the blonde. "These bells have a spell so Professors Snape and Mcgonagall and I will here them if they ring. If anything goes wrong even if it the smallest thing please ring them. This room is right down the hall from my privet rooms so I will be here in minutes no matter the hour." He said in a slightly urgent voice. He bent down and toke the young Potter's hands. "I will be here if you need anything. This can be a very scary thing you are going through." His voice was soft and his misty blue eyes were filled with caring and love. Avery gave a small smile. "I can handle Draco. I've lived with Harry and Ron for the past 5 years not to mention Fred and George." Her voice was light and giggly. Dumbledore gave a warm smile and kissed the girl gently on the forehead. "Snape I will leave you here to explain things a little further but everyone else I believe it is time to go." The children were going to protest but the Headmaster ushered them out before they could say a peep.
~~~~~~

Draco led his small mate to the couch and sat down pulling her next to him. It felt so good to finally hold her and have her under his protection. Everything about her was perfect from her long silky black hair to her stunning green eyes. He heard her give a snort and move away to the armchair on his side of the couch. "Baby steps, love." She said with a smile. He felt his heart skip a beat when she called him love even though she called everyone that.

The Potions Master cleared his throat and looked at the pair. "So Potter how much do you know about Veelas." He purred in his uninterested voice. It was almost as if he talked in cursive but he didnt slur. Avery toke a moment to think. "I know they bond with their mate after sex." Saying this made a blush come to her cheeks that made the Veela smile. She was so cute. "I know they have a council and dont have to follow most of wizard laws. They are unable to harm their mates like you said before. In strong bonds they can feel each others emotions or even talk telepathically. If a Veela's mate refuses to bond with them the Veela will kill themselves." Her voice went soft and her green eyes flicked up at Draco with worry. He wanted to go over and hold her tight. She was worried about him. "And also the longer the Veela waits to bond the more desperate they get and sometimes will resort to..." She didnt need to finish they all knew the end.

Snape gave an approving nod of his head. "Very good Potter. I'm glad to say that Draco could have done worse though he did get a Potter." He scrunched his nose a little with his comment. Draco gave a soft growl. How dare he insult his mate! The young Veela felt a wave of calm wash over him and he looked at his mate who had her eyes closed. "What is that?" He asked curious. Draco didnt know much about the younger Potter. Avery tended to stay out of the spot light and that was easy because her brother was always in the lime light.

Avery's green eyes snapped open at his question. The Potions Master gave a smirk. All of the teachers of course knew of the girls gift but he hadnt realized how well she had kept it from the student body. "Well as you know some wizards are born with abilities. Harry has Parseltongue which allows him to speak to snakes. I have an ability too, not as rare but still rare. I have the ability to control emotions. I use the magic attached to my emotions and I can send out a wave of what ever emotion I channel at the distance I chose. Today I have been spreading calmness and I have a feeling if I didnt you and Harry would have killed each other by now." She said with a small smile.

Draco looked at his mate with eyes of wonder. Being spectacular must be in the Potter DNA. He was amazed that the girl was so often forgot about compared to her brother. Harry was rash, angry, and seemed to only look one way. Avery on the other hand thought about what she was doing and how affected others, she always seemed to be calm, and she always looked at every point of view. She was a gemstone hidden by a bunch of rocks.

Snape watched the girl and boy with some amusement. Compared to Avery, Harry paled but her brother was known through out the wizard world as the Boy Who Lived but no one seemed to remember the Girl Who Lived. "Very good Potter, I'm pleasantly surprised by your knowledge of Veelas. Draco came into his inheritance last week on his birthday so his desperation to bond isn't overwhelmingly strong but I still suggest putting up a ward or two before you go to bed." His onyx eyes landed on the boy giving him a warning. The Veela looked hurt but understood. The last thing he wanted to do was force Avery into this. Like she said baby steps.

Avery gave a nod the idea having already run through her head. "Lucius should be here sometime tomorrow. He is also part Veela and so he will be staying here at Hogwarts to watch over the pair of you and to help you in anyway possible. As Dumbledore said I am only a bell's ring away. Now the two of you will be excused from classes for the next week to test your bond and help it grow. You will also need to change your schedules. Until you bond Draco will be unable to be far away from you for long periods of time." The young girl soaked in every word that the adult said. She was scared but she would never show it. She knew Draco wouldn't hurt her but there were always what ifs. "I have a class in 5 minutes so I will be leaving the two of you. I suggest you take this time to get comfortable around each other." With these words Snape stood and walked out of the portrait leaving the pair alone

The Beginning II

Postby PenguinObsession » Sat Jan 25, 2014 1:32 am

The Beginning II

The silence left behind by Snape hung thick in the air for a few moments. Neither teen knew what to say. Finally the green eyed beauty cut the silence. "Since this is your 7th year I'll just take your schedule since it will effect your future more than it will mine." Her eyes met his baby blue ones unable to read the emotions swimming in them.

Draco felt his heart clamp tighter with love for his mate. Sadly since Veelas can't harm their mates most take advantage of that and use the Veela as their personal slave not caring about them at all. But instead Avery was sitting here saying what he wanted to do was more important than what she wanted to. "Why don't we see what classes we have that match."

6th and 7th years didn't tend to take the same classes but he knew Avery had learned a lot from Granger and was in mostly if not all advanced classes. The girl have a nod her curls bouncing as she did so. They weren't frizzy like Grangers. They were long ringlets that didn't look natural but Draco wasn't about to ask.

Avery stood and went to her bag which was now laying in her room and retrieved a parchment. "Right now I'm taking N.E.W.T.S Potions, Airthmancy, Charms, Transfiguration, Ancient Runes, Herbology, and Care if Magical Creatures."

Draco let his jaw drop when she said N.E.W.T.S and Potions of all things. "How did you get into N.E.W.T.S Potions? Snape is bloody strict about who makes that class. I'm his godson and I barely got it." He was even more astounded when the girl gave a shrug. "It was easy really. I'm quite good at Potions, unlike Harry, and I toke my O.W.L.S early passing everything with flying colors. Most of these classes I take for fun." She said with a smile

The Veela shook his head. It would be awhile until he understood his mate. "Well the good thing is since you take all advanced classes we should have almost every class together except Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures." He wrinkled his nose at the last one. "Why don't you take Defense Against the Dark Arts?" He had assumed since she was a Potter she would live and breath for that class. His question was answered with another shrug.

"Harry is the one fighting Voldemort." Draco gave a shudder. It seemed like her brother Avery wasn't afraid of the Dark Lords name. "And besides I want to breed and sell magical creatures when I'm older DADA has nothing to do with that." Draco raised an eye brow at hearing what she wanted to do. Harry wanted to be an Aurore which would keep him in the spot light and let him make a name for himself, but Avery wanted something quieter. He would have to remember these things about his mate.

"How about we do this. Ill drop Herbology since I dont need that class for the future and take DADA? That way you can stay in the class that you need and in turn you can come to Care of Magical Creatures which is a class I HAVE to take to be able to raise them." She bit her lower lip hoping the trade would work. If he honestly hated the class she would drop it and try her best to study on her own but not dropping the class would be far better for her if she wanted to continue on the path she had started.

The Veela teased his mate a little by taking awhile to answer. After seeing the hopeful look on her face he knew he would have to give in. She needed that class for her future and there was no way that Draco was going to take that away from her. But the fact that she was worried he would say no made him feel a tiny bit sad. How many of her dreams had his mate had to give up to please others? "I think that sounds fair." He said giving her a bright smile. The look of happiness and excitement that lit up her face was worth being stuck in that class. She bolted up and ran to him giving him a tight hug. "Thank you." She said softly holding him tight. The Veela greedily held his mate close closing his eyes. He wished they could be like this all the time. Everything felt so perfect in the world when she was close to him. When the contact broke away he felt cold and missed her.

The young Potter wrote down the change of schedules on three parchments and snapped her fingers. In seconds there was a pop and a small house elf was at their side. "Y..yes Mistress Potter?" The small creature said in a shaky voice. "Milly take one of these to Professors Snape, Mcgonagall and Dumbledore please and thank you." Milly toke each of the parchments and with another little pop the House Elf was gone.

Under the Surface

"So what is the famous Draco Malfoy like?" Avery asked breaking the silence between the pair again. Her question was met with a shrug.

"I dont know." Was the only reply the young Veela gave. This was given a snort in response.

"Well Harry says your a liar, a cheat, evil, a womanizer, a low life, and a Death Eater in training. Does that sound right?" She made sure to keep the mood calm in the room to make sure the Veela didnt explode. She had always known that Harry and Draco never saw eye to eye which was going to make this a whole lot harder, but Harry loved her and now so did Draco. Neither would do anything to hurt her so they may not like each other but they would now have to be at least civil about it.

Draco's nostrils flared in anger. "I am none of those things! Just because I am a Slytherin doesnt mean I am a liar or a cheat. I have only ever been with 1 other girl in my whole life that I cared about and she is the only serious relationship I have ever been in. And yes my father is a Death Eater but not my choice and no I am not nor will I ever take the Dark Mark." He growled hatred dripping from his voice. He could feel his mate attempting to calm him but it just made him more upset. "And knock it off with the emotions sh*t! You cant control me Potter!" He yelled at her letting out his anger for her brother on her. As soon as the words left his mouth he regretted them. The green eyes fell to her lap and she bit her lower lip. Quickly his mate got up and walked to her room. As she walked past he heard a mumbled 'I'm sorry'. The worst thing about it though is she didnt slam the door in anger. She closed it softly as if she was trying not to disturb anyone. Draco sunk into the couch giving a small whimper. It was their first day together and he already hurt his mate. He knew she never believed any of those things she was just trying to get him to talk. The Veela cursed himself on the inside for hurting her. He looked at the door and noticed she didnt have any wards up. She knew he would want to go and talk.

~~~~~~
Avery heard the door quietly open and someone walk towards the bed. Her back was turned but she knew who it was. A pair of strong arms scooped her up and held her close to his chest. Avery looked up to see her blue eyed angel looking down at her with regret filling the baby blues. His long silken wings were out and closed around her making her feel safe and warm. She snuggled closer to the warmth whimpering softly. "I didnt mean to." She whispered pitifully. Draco felt his heart snap at his words. "Shhh my little bird. Im sorry I didnt mean to yell its just your brother make me so angry sometimes." He cooed trying to calm her racing heart. Avery burrowed closer to him, her tiny hands gripping his shirt. "I never believed any of those things Draco.." The girl said in her same small voice. He toke a deep breath and closed his eyes. "I know that now." His voice was hushed. He kept his eyes closed until he heard a soft melody come from his mate.
"And I'm holding on to the last bits of forever.
And I'm holding on to you.
Cause this world keeps on spinning slowly
But this world would be nothing without you.
The stars wouldn't shine.
My heart would cease to beat.
Flowers would die and
Birds wouldn't sing without you."
Her voice was sweet and smooth. Each note rang in the air making the silence dance. Draco listened to every word and clung to it. It was perfect just like her. "That was beautiful my little bird." He purred in a soft tone. Green eyes looked up at him and he felt his heart turn over in his chest. "I heard it in my dream. I dont know who was singing but I heard it and then I saw wings." Her eyes gazed at the black ones that enclosed her. Soft fingers ran over the feathers causing the Veela to shiver slightly.
"I'm sorry my little bird. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm not upset with you. Why dont we go down to the Great Hall and get some lunch?" Draco suggested just wanting to make her feel better. Yes, he loved having her close but he could feel the uncertainty and sorrow pouring from his mates small frame, and it was breaking his heart. The black curls bounced up and down in a nod, and his little bird left his arms and climbed off the bed. She scooped up the robe he hadnt realized was on the ground and clipped it back into place. She held out a hand waiting for the Veela to take it and lead her down to lunch.
Brotherly Love
Brotherly Love
Draco led his new mate into the Great Hall, holding her close to him. The second they walked in they were met with silence and curious gazes. Avery could feel blood rising to her cheeks as she moved her head so her curls were blocking her face. Draco shot all of the nosey lookers a glare and brought her closer. "Where do you want to sit?" His tone was gentle and comforting.
"Well Harry and Ron will just stir things up. I want to meet your friends." The raven haired girl said. Draco gave a nod and led the raven haired beauty to the Slytherin table. Avery turned around to see her brother standing wand out but she shot him a glare that sent him back down to the bench seat. He knew better than to mess with his sister.
The pair sat down next to Blaise and Theo. Theo gave a cold glare and turned his attention the shepherds pie on his plate. Blaise on the other hand was much more accepting. "I'm happy for you Draco. You got pretty lucky." He said flashing Avery a charming smile. Before the Veela could react Avery toke his hand and squeezed softly. Her eyes met his and he relaxed but didn't let her hand go.
"So Blaise what's it really like in the snake house? I take it the stories that reach Gryffindor aren't exactly factual." The Slytherin Head Boy gave a snort. " No offense but most of the stuff that comes out of that house is bull. The reputation we Slytherins have gotten because of the Dark Lord is an insult to everything this house was founded on. Yes we have a few bad eggs but every house does." His voice was bitter and he glared at the table of gold.
"Well I'm hoping to settle some of this. A little friendly rivalry is always nice but I feel like this has gone too far. Harry won't hurt me so he won't hurt any of you and the house will follow his lead." Blaise looked at the girl brown eyes wide with what she was saying. He looked up at Draco and gave a genuine smile. Draco smirked and pulled his mate a little closer. She could win anyone's heart.
"Blaise you've been friends with Draco forever and he refuses to tell me anything about himself. Would you care to fill in the blanks?" When a devious smile spread across the boys face Draco gave a small sigh. "Well let me tell you the story about when Draco and I were small..."
~~~~~~

By the end of the story Avery was doubled over with tears in her eyes from laughter. "So he really wore the bra to party?!" She said between breaths. The Veela sat behind her a spiteful look on his face as he looked at his laughing friend. "Maybe we should leave." He growled. Avery rolled her eyes. "Oh don't be a baby I'll have Ginny tell you about the time I drank one of the twins potions and it turned my skin blue for a month." As she said this she stood. "It was very nice finally getting to you Blaise." Most of the people in the Great Hall had left by this point so only a few eyes watched the couple leave.

"Malfoy..." A growl came from behind them as the walked down the hall. They turned to see Harry and Ron wands out with a look of pure hatred on their faces.

"What could you two possibly want?" The blonde asked in an annoyed voice. Couldn't he have a moment of peace with his mate?

"I want you to leave my sister alone. Quit with the games she has done nothing to you." The Boy Who Lived growled

"She is my mate Potter. You may not like it but deal with it. Nothing will change it." Draco spat. Avery could feel the tempers rising, but before she had the chance to calm them all down Harry yelled out a spell. Before any one could react the young Potter stepped in front of the Veela the spell hitting her dead in the chest. There was a flash of purple and then the girl was lying on the ground. The three dove for her at the same time.

"What the hell did you do Potter!" The Veela screamed. Fury pounded in his head and if wasn't for the fact Avery was a crumpled heap on the floor Draco would have ripped him apart then and there. Harry's hands were shaking as he looked at his sister. "I..I..." Before he could reply the girl sat up her eyes wide. She gave an awful gag and suddenly threw up a slug. She started crying and her whole lunch spilled out onto the ground with several large slugs.

Black wings ripped out of the Veelas back but this time it was different. Each feather was sharp and instead of black they looked like they were made out of steel. He wrapped his wings around her, and the Boy who Lived noticed the ones that were touching his sister went back to their silken ways. Draco quickly scooped up his mate and started running to the infirmary the other two boys following close behind him.

~~~~~~
Draco looked down at his sleeping mate a bucket full of slugs at his feet. The flow had slowed and now it was only one or two an hour. Madame Pomfrey had put a sleeping spell on her since the girl couldn't keep down the potions. He smoothed the blankets around her and tucked her hair behind her ear. Professors Snape, Mcgonagall, and Dumbledore rushed in through the doors. "What happened here!?" The Gryffindor Head yelled.
"Potter threw a hex at me! Avery stepped in the way. She didn't know that Veelas can't be harmed by small hexes like that." His voice was soft when he talked about the sleeping girl.
"Mr. Potter what on earth were you thinking!! You could have seriously hurt Mr. Malfoy or heaven forbid your little sister!! 50 points from Gryffindor and two weeks of detention starting tonight." The young boy didn't protest. He just stared at his sister, tears streaming down his face. He held her other hand tight and whimpered softly.
The young girl stirred and then sat up straight in bed. Draco immediately grabbed the bucket and the young girl threw up two more slugs groaning softly. Madam Pomfrey came to put another sleeping spell on her but the girl pit a hand up in protest. "I'm fine." She said in a raspy voice. Draco handed her a glass of water which she happily drank all of. She pushed away the slugs, wrinkling her nose. " I feel your pain now Ron." She said a smile growing on her face. Everyone seemed to relax a bit but Harry and Draco. The girl was easy to forgive but the Veela wasn't the raven haired boy didn't want to be forgiven.
An Unwelcome Visitor
An Unwelcome Visitor
Avery stood in the middle of a dark room only a small light from the tip of her wand. "M...master." A small whimper came from her right. There was a hiss and her vision moved to look at the crumpled body on the ground. "I..I'm sorry Master." Whimpered the figure. Avery could feel herself smile. "Crucio." She whispered but it want her voice. It was a deep voice twisted with pleasure. The man on the floor screamed in pain while sick laughter rang alongside it.
The young Potter woke up in the infirmary with Draco and Harry looking at her with worried eyes. She sat up shaking and whimpering softly. The scar on her neck burned like a hot poker. She quickly shifted the curls to revile the dark red scar. "He...he hurt someone... And he was happy about it." She whimpered softly. Harry's eyes softened. He had had the dreams many times before and knew exactly what his sister was going through, though he was thankful she didn't get them nearly as much.
Draco looked into his mates eyes and could see the pain in fear in them. He tucked the hair behind her ear and whispered softly. "It's ok my little bird. You're safe now." He cooed but his mate shook her head no. "No I'm not Dumbledore was right." Tears started to pour down her face. Both boys looked at her worried."What do you mean..." But before her brother could finished Avery bolted out of bed and out the door. The boys gave each other a look and then darted after her.
They followed her all the way to the Headmaster's office. "F...fizzy pops." Whimpered the young Potter. By the time to door was reviled both boys were walking up the stair case behind her. Albus sat at him desk reading a letter that he had gotten that morning. When he looked up and saw the crying Potter he stood and his face fell. "No..." He said softly. The girl gave him a nod and ran to the wizard crying hard. "Shhh my dear. You will be ready." He cooed. Avery had become his family and he was not willing to lose her. "What is happening!" A furious Harry spat. Dumbledore had always kept secrets from him but if this one involved his sister he had every right to know. The old wizard gave a sigh. "Sit boys I have some troubling news...."
~~~~~~

Draco held his still shaking mate tightly in his arms. He didn't know what was happening but he had a feeling it had something to do with The Dark Lord. "Harry you remember the prophecy that said a small child born mid summer would bring the fall of Voldemort." The messy haired boy gave a nod. "Yes and that is me." His comment made the older wizard sigh.

"Harry I believe we misread the prophecy. We had assumed that it said small just because you were young and the middle of summer because July is the middle month of summer... But your sister will always be small and her birthday is August 7th... That had is exactly the middle of summer...." His voice was sad and soft as he looked at the girl who was trying to keep her bravest face. Both Draco and Harry had horrified looks on their faces.

"NO!" They shouted in unison. Albums closed his eyes. This part he dreaded. "And we believe Voldemort knows now. Your sister has had a dream every night now for the past month. He is trying to scare her. She is weaker than you Harry and she can't block the dreams." Harry looked at his shaking sister, his heart starting to break. "Why...why didn't you tell me?" He whispered softly.

"We didn't know for sure and I knew it would worry you. I've been putting a silencing charm on myself every night so I didnt wake the others..." She looked at the floor when she spoke not wanting to meet her brothers eyes.

The raven haired boy looked at his little sister, tears welling up in his eyes. He quickly ran over and held her close. "I'm so sorry. I've been so caught up in myself." This earned a snort and a roll of the eyes from Draco, but Harry ignored it. "I haven't been there for you." Tears poured down his cheeks and into his sister's hair. Avery held him back but no tears escaped her eyes.

"Harry it's fine. I know to you I'll always be little and helpless but I'm stronger than you think. Yes it's terrifying and I might not survive." Draco gave a worried look at her words and felt his stomach knot up. "But I can and will do this." She pulled away from her brother determination in her eyes. Harry gave a small smile. He knew she could do it but it didn't make it any less difficult for him.

Dumbledore finally broke the silence. "Now Avery since we know it will be you fighting Voldemort we can not let him send you visions. I know things with Mr. Malfoy are very new at the moment but you are now going to need to share a bed with him every night." Avery looked at him with a curious face, Harry looked at him with fury, and Draco looked very smug. "Now let me explain. Veelas are very powerful magical creatures and one of their abilities is dreamless sleep. They can also give this to their mate. A Veela's dreamless sleep is stronger than any potion or spell and it will be the only thing that will keep Voldemort out of your dreams. Once he realizes he can't scare you he will know he doesn't have the upper hand." Avery gave a nod at his explanation.

"Anything to stop the dreams." She whispered. Draco stood and wrapped an arm around her and kissed the back of her head softly. He could finally protect her from something. "And I know we were going to give you time off so spend it with Draco but from now on you will be taking privet Defense classes with all of the teachers. All of us have different spells and tricks to teach you and it will hopefully make up for lost time. Draco you will have to attend too. Since you can not leave Avery's side I want you to be just as well protected as her." Draco arched an eyebrow at Albus's words. Since when did the old bat care about his safety?

"You all may go now. Avery, Draco it is alright for you to return to your rooms. I'll explain everything to Poppy later." The pair gave a small smile and all three left the Headmasters office.

"I'm staying with you." Harry said to his sister once the trio was out in the hall. Draco gave a snort.

"I am perfectly capable of taking care of my mate Potter. I'm doing a better job than you have." He sneered. Avery elbowed him and gave the Veela a sharp look.

"Harry I'll be alright. You handled your nightmares all by yourself and now they are over for me. I'll talk to Dumbledore about you coming for a few of my lessons too but I can handle this. I'm a Potter after all." A warm smile spread across her lips and Harry gave a sigh. He grabbed his sister and held her tightly, tears threatening to fall down his cheeks again. "I love you Avery." He croaked. His sister was all he had left and the thought of loosing her was too much.

"I love you too Harry. Now go to class 'Mione will kill you if you miss anymore school." Avery pulled away from her brother and kissed him lightly on the cheek. "I'll see you at dinner Harry." Green eyes met each other and each held love and a little bit of fear. Harry gave a nod and a small smile. "I better." He said. Harry turned and walked down the hall dreading going into Potions late. Snape was going to kill him.

Avery turned to Draco who held his arms out to her. She gladly snuggled into him giving a yawn. The Veela smiled down at her and scooped her up like a child. Avery gave no objections and laid her head down on his shoulder. "Can I have a dog?" She asked in a sleepy voice.

"A dog?" Draco had seen them before but they were more of a Muggle pet. Why would anyone want one of those smelly flea bitten mongrels?

"Yes I've always wanted one but I've never been allowed to have one before and well...." Draco didn't need her to finish. He knew why. He kissed her head trying his hardest not to cry.

"Of course my love, I will get you any dog that you want." His mate gave a sleepy smile and closed her eyes. He thought she might have mumbled 'thank you' but she was asleep by the time he got to the unicorn painting. Draco just stood in the hall holding his mate for a moment. When he saw how brave she was being at Dumbledores office and in front of Harry he thought it was because she was a Potter. But standing here in the hall holding her, he could feel the fear and worry pouring off of her. She had stayed brave for them but he knew she was terrified. He kissed her forehead softly. " I'll protect you my little bird. I promise." He whispered.

"Danika please do not let anyone disturb us for the rest of the day unless it is Snape or Dumbledore. Also the new password is The Girl Who Lived." He whispered looking down at the beauty asleep in his arms. The unicorn gave a snort and swung open allowing the Veela to step inside.

The Other Side of Draco

Postby PenguinObsession » Mon Jan 27, 2014 2:58 pm

The Other Side of Draco

Avery gave a smile as she halfway opened her eyes. She had slept wonderfully, no nightmares or visions, just deep dreamless bliss. She closed her eyes again not wanting to wake up but then she felt the warm pillow move. Opening her eyes fully she looked up to see the sleeping face of Draco Malfoy. Instead of waking him up she just looked at him. He looked so peaceful asleep. His blonde hair was down and the bangs feel over his forehead. His pale pink lips were chapped and his lower one stuck out a little. He had some stubble because he hadn't shaved. Avery gave a happy smile. He really was perfect.

She slowly sat up not having the heart to wake the sleeping Veela. "Tempus." She whispered the numbers 8:17 coming before her. She had been asleep for almost 4 hours! Once out in the living room she plopped down on the couch. Her stomach gave an angry growl and she realized that she and Draco had missed dinner. She snapped her fingers and soon a small very excited House Elf stood by her.

"Is Mistress Potter alright? Dobby was worried when he saw Master Potter upset." Avery gave a smile at the House Elf.

"I am alright Dobby. Draco and I missed dinner do you think you could bring some pizza?"

"Yes, yes yes! Dobby will bring pizza for Mistress Potter right away Dobby will." And with that the enthusiastic house Elf was gone.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" She heard a sleepy voice say behind her. Green eyes turned to see a newly awake Draco. His bangs still fell down on his forehead, his white button up shirt was halfway untucked and unbuttoned a little showing a little glimpse of chest, his black dress pants were wrinkled and the top of his boxers could be seen. Avery bit her lower lip at the sight forcing herself to look away. The Veela noticed this and gave a small smile. He sat down on the couch next to her smiling even more at the blush on her cheeks.

"You're adorable." He said kissing her cheek softly. Not knowing what else to do Avery stood and straightened the dress she was wearing. Avery had always been one of those girls who wore cute little dresses all the time. Today she wore a gray fitted dress that pleated at the bottom and ended right above the knees. Right above the pleats it had a strip of diagonal gold and red lines for her house. And since it was warm out she wore just beige panty hoes underneath. Baby blue eyes watched her as she walked around the room. He had never noticed the curves in her body or the way her hips swayed when she walked. He shook his head clearing his mind. That kind if thinking was for dreams or showers only.

The tension was defused when a House Elf brought them pepperoni pizza and two large glasses of pumpkin juice. Both eagerly dug into the food, starving since they missed dinner.

~~~~~~
"So Draco I'm suppose to be spending the rest of my life with you and I don't even know your favorite color." Avery said after the leftovers had been sent back to the kitchen, and the pair sat in opposite armchairs in full silence.
The blonde sat for a moment thinking about his answer. "I don't like telling people about myself." His blue eyes saw the not spoken question in his mate's eyes. He gave a sigh.
"I've been through a lot... My mom was never a mother for me. She didn't even want me. My father raised me and besides Snape he is the only other person who cares about me. I know he may seem like a bad guy but the Dark Lord makes him do awful things... But if he doesn't do them he will be killed or I will be... Unless something is done soon I will have to take the Dark Mark.... My father hates it but he doesn't control his life anymore... I was kind of hoping you would reject me so then I could die before it happens.... Then I couldn't hurt you or anyone else...." His voice was soft and he looked at the ground.
Avery felt her heart shatter into a million pieces and tears fell down her cheeks. Silently she stood and went over to him lifting his chin so he looked her in the eyes. "I will kill him and I will set all of you free. I know a lot of people see our relationship as a one way street, that you have to protect me but they are wrong. As long as I am living and breathing nothing and I mean nothing will happen to you. I promise." Determination and a tad bit of fury were in her voice. Blue eyes got lost in a forest of green, and green eyes swam in an ocean of blue.
Draco grabbed her and pulled her close allowing tears to fall freely from his cheeks. Avery held the blonde in her arms letting him cry. "You'll never be alone again." She said softly petting his hair. Draco buried his face in her neck taking a deep breath of her scent. When he pulled away he saw the scar that cause all of her pain. Without thinking he kissed the scar softly willing it to vanish. The contact sent a shiver through his mate and for her to grip his shirt a little tighter. He would have to remember that for later.
Neither knew how long they sat together just holding one another. Finally Draco broke the silence. "Green." Avery was puzzled at first but then smiled. It was his favorite color.
"But not Slytherin green. The green that you see when you hold a new leaf up to the sun. The bright, vibrant green that shows life." Avery listened as he talked softly. His baby blue eyes looked down her. "The life I see when I look into your eyes. That's my favorite color." Blood rushed to Avery's cheeks and she gave a soft smile covering her face with her curls. Draco tucked the curls behind her ear and tilted her chin to look at him.
Slowly he bent down until their lips finally touched.
{ dun dun duuuuu! Hehe you're gonna have to wait for the next chapter for more of the kiss ;3 }
