This is a drabble about two Simas on Christmas for dangit memphis. She owns Arsenio Alaric, and I own Julian.
Christmas is always a time for family and joy. Everyone gathers under the tree to open gifts from Santa, drinking eggnog and singing carols. But there is one who spends this holiday alone.
A low Sima by the name of Arsenio was found sitting in front of a shop window, gazing into all the nice things behind the glass. He never got the money to buy anything, but for him, it was nice to dream and imagine.
Even though all the items were intriguing to Arsenio, he kept looking over to one in particular. There lay a saddle-back blanket, thick enough to keep a Sima quite warm in these winter months. But Arsenio wasn’t wanting this for himself. He was trying to buy it for his owner, for she didn’t have the money to afford a nice warmth product.
There was another Sima nearby who heard Arsenio and approached him with a happy demeanor. Her name was Julian, and even though she was blind she could sense Arsenio’s presence.
She lowered her ears at the upset waves heating off the other Sima, and she adjusted the cloth on her eyes quickly before sitting gently beside him.
“Hey there,” she said softly, turning her head to face the male’s body.
Arsenio barely turned his head to face her, but he jumped at the sight of the strange Sima. “Wh-what happened to you?!” he said a bit too loudly, preparing to fight if needed.
Julian sighed and shook her head. She had a feeling he would react as such. “Long story short, I’m cursed, and I took my sight because of my brother.” She shifted her paws in worry as she spoke again. “My colors have been turned to greyscale, and I have a mate for my soul, but that is all that has happened.” She didn’t want to continue in fear she would scare the Sima away.
Arsenio relaxed a little bit in knowing the other creature wouldn’t hurt him that he knew of, but he was still a little tense. “What’s your name…?”
“I’m Julian,” she replied, feeling sorry for the Sima. “Who are you, and why are you out here, instead of being warm at home?” Her tail wagged back and forth just slightly.
The male growled and looked away. “I’m Arsenio. And I can’t afford warmth. Besides, my owner needs the entire house to herself. She’s cold nonetheless.” He sighed and lay down on the freezing sidewalk, flinching at the sudden cold against his fur.
“Maybe I could help.” Julian got up and made her way into the store, hoping she could find something warm for the stranger. But Arsenio just walked away from the store. He did not want to have the disappointment of not getting what he wished for when Julian came out. So he padded on home.
Yet the female came outside a few minutes later with a box for the other Sima.
Arsenio lay in front of the fire on Christmas Eve, the very few flames keeping him warm just a bit. He closed his eyes and let his body rest from the cold.
He was just about to fall asleep when his owner tapped him on the shoulder. “Someone’s here to see you. Well, not really see you, but you get my gist.” She smiled and gently pushed the visitor forward.
Arsenio pricked his ears in surprise and stood up, turning around to face the guest. He was even more surprised to find it was Julian. She had a large package at her front paws, and her eyes were covered with a pleasant Christmas themed scarf that delicately tied around the back of her head.
“Hey there,” Julian said with a slight giggle, pushing the package towards Arsenio. He gave her a confused look, even though he knew she could not see it.
“How did you even find me?” He questioned, tilting his head and scooting the gift closer to himself.
“My owner was a friend of yours, and she dropped me off here.” Julian grinned and wagged her tail. The male shrugged and smiled before starting to open up the gift.
Inside contained four saddle-back blankets, in all different colors. Arsenio cried out in joy and leapt onto Julian, giving her a huge hug. She blushed madly and slowly hugged him back awkwardly.
“Thank you SO MUCH, Julian!! This is the most perfect Christmas gift I could ever ask for.” He released the hug and grinned big at the female.
Julian giggled and shrugged. “Everyone needs a gift on Christmas.” She was about to leave when Arsenio stopped her.
“Can you stay?” He gave her a warm look. “Please?”
She pretended to think for a moment before laughing softly. “Sure I can.” She followed Arsenio back to the fire, glad to make someone happy for once in her life.
