here, i will have some ideas to add extra drama and also the plot-lines
My writing is medieval with two rivaling kingdoms, Yalonde [ good ] and Valeria [ evil ]
My main character is Princess Evelyn, heir to the Yalondite throne and bretrothed to the son of a Baron and Baroness, Fabian.
some drama additions;
• the start of the first book, Fabian's younger sisters, Ramona and Sabina [ i'm not entirely sure about the names ] sneak out into the forest, where Prince Calix [ heir to the Valerian throne ] and his personal guard are scouting around. Calix accidently slaughters them, thinking they are Yalondite intruders, as the two girls are wearing hodded robes. So then, Yalonde announces war with Valeria.
• end of first book, start of second, Princess Evelyn falls in love with Prince Calix. <3 but Calix's servant, Azalea finds out and swears to keep it secret. King Oberon [ of Valeria ] tortures Azalea into telling him, which he succedes in, but Azalea meets her death at the hands of Calix as he is enraged.
• end of the second book, Queen Rhoda [ of Valeria ] creates a deadly sickenss, which Fabian catches. Evelyn feels grief and depression for her friend, but everyone misunderstands her feelings and thinks she is in love with him. Calix finds out and tries to murder Fabian, but fails as Evelyn is there. Fabian eventually heals, him and Evelyn get married- becoming King and Queen of Yalonde.
• somewhere in the third book, Princess Evelyn's younger sibling, Princess Lilith, falls in love with her palace guard, Reid, but is betrothed to Shiloh. She get's married to Reid though as Shiloh realises that he shouldn't force her into marriage.
• start of the second book, Sabbath, the daughter of a Baron and Baroness, develops a powerful ability. She is kidnapped by the Valerian Kingdom and is to marry Calix, as the Valerian's want a powerful ruler.
• middle of second book, Baron and Baroness, Nixon and Seneca, are enraged as they find out Sabbath is betrothed to Calix instead of their daughter Alaska. They overthrow King Oberon and Queen Rhoda, making war even worse and tensions even tighter.

PROLOGUE
________________________________________________________________________________
The circular moon hung in the sky, a large beacon on the eternal blanket of ebony. It smothered the feeble stars and illuminated the peaceful land which it watched over each evening. The radiant sphere rose until it reached its peak.
Down below, underneath the tightly, woven entanglement of branches and leaves, two shadows crept over the crackling leaf-litter. They weaved past the sturdy, looming shapes and sometimes stumbling lightly- only to be helped by the other. As the two moved, their coats fluttered behind them, snagging on the rough surface of the trees, bringing a frustrated curse from its wearer.
The edge of a diamond-shaped, plains area was where they stopped, huddling together against a tree. The tree-line dispersed and long grass swayed in the gentle, night breeze. A faint glow of light was emerging from the east which gave the grass a golden shine.
One of the figures yelped and ran into the hazy field, where the sun continued to ascend into the lightening sky. As it ran, the midnight cloak peeled off the figure's shoulders- revealing a young girl with bleach-blonde hair and sun-kissed skin. The other figure ran after her and gracefully tossed her own cloak onto the grass. This girl was older with black curls that bounced on her pale shoulders,
“Ramona!”
She nervously shrieked and roughly grabbed the younger girl's wrist, causing her to wince. Ramona stared up at her, with icy, blue eyes,
“But Sabina- !”
“We need to go. Now. We're too close to the Valerian borders. I should have never let you lead me out here.”
Sabina fixated her gaze on the tree-line, the heavy oaks crowded together more than the forest they came through. She felt guilty for speaking so harsh to Ramona, but her safety was most important. She started to lead the younger girl back the way they came, lifting her feet high to not trip on the swaying grasses, but Ramona tugged away. The grass was in Ramona's favour and it tangled in Sabina's feet, immobilising her for a few heartbeats.
Ramona's hair fluttered out behind her as she ran into the dark trees- they engulfed her in their murky fog. Her footfalls quietened to an occasional snap and the flutter of a disturbed bird.
Sabina raced after her, heart pounding- experienced soldiers didn't have the chance to survive inside the Valerian borders for long, how was a young girl and her over-protective sibling supposed to? Normally, the soldiers got shot by the sharp-sighted archers placed in looming towers that attached to crumbling walls, but it was also known for notorious wild animals to prey on a few.
“Ramona! Where are you?”
Her voice cracked with fear as the trees blurred past, using her lower arms to block out the clawing branches. Cracked and wrinkled roots covered the ground with their gnarly growth, concealing themselves under the musky litter on the ground.
Sabina stumbled through the Valerian forest, desperate to find her beloved sister. She continued to shout out her name, the voice that shouted them sounded weak and sad.
“Sabina!”
Ramona's shriek rippled through the forest, echoed by the hidden wildlife. It reached her ears and made her body numb, but drove her onwards. The murmuring of her sister in the forest led Sabina to her, where she cowered on the ground, groaning.
Sabina fell to her knees next to Ramona, trying to trace her features in the lowlight. Her gaze fell upon a thin, black arrow that pierced through the pale skin above her sister's hip. A small cry escaped her lips as Sabina gently grazed her shaky fingers across the puncture. Sabina couldn't bear to loose her sister, but from where the moonlight shone down on her sickly skin, she knew Ramona was slowly slipping away.
“No. No. No.”
The trees seemed to close in on her, everything seemed too close for comfort. A thousand eyes from the woods all watching her, but infact only four were.
Two dark shapes stepped out from amongst the bushes, boldy walking towards Sabina. Her eyes were wide, so wide and blue that the ocean wouldn't stand a chance against them. She dropped her sister's limp body, all the warmth from Ramona disappeared instantly, and hastily crawled away from the two.
She shivered as they reached closer, a deadly cross-bow in their hands glinted from the setting moon. The trees cast long shadows along the ground, revealing the glinting frost. The two stopped moving towards Sabina and one held their weapon, aiming at her.
“What is your business in Valeria?”
The speaker's voice was rough, like sharp gravel shards grinding against each other. Sabina flinched, this was her first enounter with any Valerian, and from the ongoing events, it was probably her last. She tried to reply, but the nervous lump in her throat blocked her speech. Instead of sounding strong and defiant, the single word that escaped Sabina's lips would have made her own brother cringe.
“Please!”
The Valerian whom looked younger but muscular spoke in reply.
“Trespassers are not welcome here.”
By the tone in his voice Sabina knew this was it. The time she knew would eventually come, but she never realised it would be this soon. Atleast Ramona wouldn't be alone.
Everything seemed to move slower, the raising of his cross-bow as he brought it close to her chest, the horror which obviously flashed onto the face of the older Valerian.
“No.”
He raised his hand, but it made no difference.
The arrow pierced Sabina's chest, sending a shockwave that shook her whole body. Dark red trickled from the wound, coating her clothes and skin with a layer of the shiny substance. The ground came up to meet her and as she struck it's dirt, she had completely lost control of herself. The darkness closed in, too close for comfort. As Sabina felt herself slipping away, the last she heard was a numbing shock to her.
“Yalonde will not be pleased when they find out, Prince Calix.”
Prince Calix smirked, his eyes glinting with excitement.
“Who says they will find out?”

CHAPTER ONE - wip
________________________________________________________________________________
This morning wasn't the best Evelyn had experienced before.
She woke with a terrible pain in her spine, the result of practicing her royal tutor's lessons. Her hair was a large matted, tangle as she had bathed late last night, and her personal maid was no-where in sight. Unfortunately, her problems were weak and childish compared to Demetris and Pamela's, the most highly respected Baron and Baroness in Yalonde.
Evelyn barely managed to peel the covers off her stiff body. She hurriedly slipped into a simple snow-coloured dress and tied an evergreen bow around her waist. Luckily, before she had even tried to assault her hair, her maid quietly slipped into her room and gave her a low curtsey, sincerly apoligising for her lateness. She carefully combed Evelyn's ebony locks and delicately strung it in a high bun on her head.
“Thank you.”
Evelyn politely thanked her and left her quarters, slowly strolling down the jade coloured hall. She ducked into her sister, Lilith's, bedroom, where she was enveloped in a clinging hug. Lilith's body shook as she sobbed into Evelyn's shoulder, her arms now wrapped around her neck. The tight embraced was crushing, but Evelyn felt a wave of grief wash over her as she saw her mother, The Queen, and Baroness Pamela sitting upon her sister's bed. The Queen held Pamela steady with a firm grasp on the Baroness's shoulders, whispering comforting words.
“Lilith?”
Evelyn placed steady hands onto Lilith and held her at arms length.
“Lilith, please, explain what is going on. Why is Pamela here? Why are you crying?”
Evelyn opened the cascade of questions onto her sister. Lilith sniffled, in different circumstances she would have been frowned upon, but considering her condition, it passed as easily as being unnoticed. She hiccuped several times before speaking, her eyes brimming with tears.
“It's Ramona and Sabina. They were missing this morning when Pamela went to wake them. We have no idea where they are or if they're fine. I'm- I'm- I'm just so worried!”
The last words tumbled from Lilith's mouth weakly, fulled with desperation and worry for her close friends. Sympathy simmered on Eveyln's cheeks, making her skin boil. She let her sister crush into her once more before approaching her mother, uncertain of what she should expect.
The Queen had a distracted - but steady - gaze locked onto the quilt which lined Lilith's bed. Her knuckles couldn't possibly take any more strain from the iron grip she held Pamela with. Evelyn was fond of her mother's hardened emotions, it was what the Queen must come accustomed to when ruling, but she still allowed some to slip through. Like the tear that slipped through the nearly impenetrable eyes her mother looked up at her with.
“Mother, may we please step out into the hallway for a quick chat?”
Evelyn then turned to Pamela and asked for them to be excused. Pamela's reply was choked by her dreadful sobbing that sent quakes through her body but Evelyn managed to catch a small nod in between the grief. The two older women shared a quick glance; the Queen's reassuring and kind, while the Baroness' was broken and a wreckage of pain. Evelyn decided it was best not to take long with the chat.
She stepped outside with her mother and took a large inhale of breath.
“Mother, can you explain what's happened this morning?”
The Queen's expression turned into pain and she ran her fingers through the ebony tassles that bounced around her neck. Evelyn and her mother looked quite alike, the same dark hair and those smoking amber eyes which burned like embers. The only difference was Evelyn's rounded face, which she inherited from her father, while her mother had quite a narrow face and high cheekbones. This she envied. Everything her mother did seemed either extremely elegant or absolutely selfless; she flitted about the kingdom, giving out daisies to the small children and flipping coins into begger's open hands. Even Lilith got to join their mother sometimes! Evelyn didn't have the chance though, she was strictly on guard because she was the most imporant; heir to the throne apparently. She didn't want to be Queen if it meant she didn't get her freedom.
Returning to the conversation, Evelyn gave her mother an impatient look, which the older royal returned with a scowl and held up a skinny finger. She was obviously indicating that the princess wait. She could tell her mother was trying to give her the news in a way that would effect her least; couldn't have the princess upset, should we? Finally, the Queen looked back up and sighed, regaining some calm.
“Last night, Baron Demetris and his son, as you know, Fabian had gone out previously and told Baroness Pamela that they saw Valerian women patrolling their border. Baroness Pamela, Ramona and Sabina had a small argument about why Yalondite women weren't allowed out unsupervised. Apparently, it didn't end well. This morning, Baroness Pamela went to wake Ramona and Sabina, as they had missed breakfast but found them missing. Immediately, she knew that they had gone to the border to prove them all wrong. Personally, I don't see that it's Pamela's fault; she keeps on blaming herself for their disappearance.”
When she had finished, Evelyn stared at her feet, now feeling sick to her stomach. Curious questions swam in her mind; Women patrolling borders? Ramona and Sabina going out alone? To be honest, she didn't think her friends had the courage to. Even though the Queen hadn't told her, Evelyn knew that they were gone. Not gone as in getting captured, but gone forever. It was quite sad really- they were so young, Ramona was only fifteen and Sabina eighteen.
