~Horse Tale~
PART 1
I was a small horse. Living in a village called… Well, I don’t really know what the humans called them. But I was so called the “Horse Slave”. I remembered that name because I used to be one of them. They killed my parents. Well, I really should start from the beginning.. It happened 100 years ago. From what my grandfather told me…. They died before they even gave me a name…
100 years ago……..
Back in the old times, I wasn’t even born yet… “Look at my baby mare, all grown up.” Jewel said smiling. Shadow looked down at the baby mare. “Well what should we call her?” Shadow said nuzzling the baby mare. “I don’t know…I know! I will call you……” Jewel said before finishing, a man came in and toke Jewel by her hair and pulled her out of the stables. The baby mare whinned for her mother. Shadow stamped his hoofs as the man stormed into the stable and toke Jewel out by pulling on her hair. Shadow nuzzled and licked the baby mare. “Its aright little on. I am here.” Shadow said not wanting to think what the man might do to her after giving birth. Another man came in. But wait.. it wasn’t a man, but a women. Shadow was shocked. The women always stayed in the village’s houses. He went in-front of the baby mare when she came over running. “Its alright, there.” The women said stroking his head then his nose. “My children told me you had a baby. Let me see.” The women said going behind Shadow. Shadow whinned and stamped his hoofs. The women shushed him and looked at the baby mare. The women picked up the baby and put the baby in a basket. A cannon burst and sounded the explosion. Shadow whinned once more and stamped his hoofs. The women gasped and picked up the basket with the baby mare inside and ran out. Knight ran after the women but the stable door shut close. He kicked the door with his hind legs. Cracking the door and opened. He jumped through the crack and looked around for either Jewel or his baby mare. He knew if he saved Jewel, she and he would be heart-broken for the baby mare. But if he saved the baby mare, he might not be in time to save his beloved Jewel. He was thinking when another cannon burst came out. He panicked and ran to Jewel, where she was carrying 50 times more the weight then her. Well, she was used to it. But never for Shadow. He wanted to help Jewel, but the man always whipped him, threw rocks at him and kicked his until he couldn’t stand up and kept on vomiting for 3 hours. He looked at the plane flying above the village as they were about to throw bombs. He whinned and warned all the horses there are danger. The horses bucked their riders, what they are carrying and ran off to where Shadow was. As you can see, shadow was the Lead Male. And Jewel was the Lead Mare. The horses stopped as they reached Shadow. The man and villagers started to aboard the train. Shadow looked at the villagers. He looked for the women carrying their baby mare. The train left…Without any of their horses. There must be no space for horses or any animals. It’s up to Shadow and Jewel to find their baby and escape their slavery and make sure no horses are captured and tortured as they were. Shadow looked at Jewel. Jewel looked back. “We have to find our baby mare.” Jewel said sadly. Shadow nodded and called for the horses. “It’s time. The time we have all been waiting for. Escaping. But now, we are on another journey. The journey to save our herd and protect the horses in this world!” Shadow said as the horses bucked whinned and stamped their hoofs in agreement. Shadow nodded to the horses the Jewel. Looks like it’s time to head to the desert! Shadow said heading to the path for the desert with the horses following behind and dogs, cats, birds and other animals left behind followed.
At the middle of the desert…..
Shadow whinned when bomb explosions landed right near him and his herd. He whinned and stamped his hoofs warning the horses. The horses whinned back and ran for cover. Shadow ran behind while he nudged Jewel to be the safest. A bomb landed on his slight hoof and he neighed.
PART 2
Shadow neighed and galloped beside Jewel under the shade. When the bombes stopped, the horses, Jewel and Shadow came out slowly sniffing and looking around for any more bombs or injuries. Shadow sniffed the ground with his head down low like the other horses. His ears flicked up and he lifted his head looking at the end of the path. Jewel stopped and looked at Shadow. “What’s wrong Shadow?” Jewel asked. “I hear other horses. COME ON!” Shadow said galloping. The horses stopped, neighed and galloped behind following Shadow and Jewel. Jewel narrowed her eyes and saw a herd of horses there. She galloped faster. Shadow tried to stop Jewel but though what could you possibly do to hurt her-self?. So he just galloped while Jewel galloped faster in-front. She halted with her hoofs and Shadow stopped next to her. “Look….” Jewel said looking at the other village. She turned around and so did shadow and neighed to return. But some other dogs stopped the horse’s way and snarled at them. The dogs who were following Shadow and Jewel tried to attack the other dogs. A man came up to the herd and looked at them. Shadow neighed in distress when the man grabbed his harness. But very slow and gentle. Shadow was not used to this kind of gentleness. He neighed. Jewel nuzzled him and swished her tail. “It’s alright. They seem that they won’t hurt anything. Look. Even the other herd does not want to budge. They have sweet grass, fresh water, clean stables and friends!” Jewel said following behind the man. The man smiled as the whole herd followed behind Shadow and the man. The man leaded them to a fresh water hole and gave them a lot of hay to eat. Some of them greeted their new friends, some of them drank water, some of them ate hay, and some of them ran around the meadows. It was soon midnight. The villagers turned in and slept peacefully. He horses was in their warm stables. Shadow’s stable was next to Jewel. He felt safe.
The next morning…..
Shadow woke up. He looked at the window stable and saw that Jewel was not in. He looked around and saw only a few horses grazing in the fields. He tried to open the door but noticed the door was never lock. He galloped out and sniffed around looking for Jewel. He heard a neigh and figured it was Jewel’s. He panicked and galloped after the sound. He looked at Jewel, not in distress or pain but having fun with the other female horses. She used to be the only female horse around in the other village. She liked having friends. She was happy. And so was the herd. But Shadow was still un-satisfied. He would not drink much, eat a lot and just go in the stables after he ate and drank. He was still wondering about his baby mare. He did not even know her name. He was sad and tears rolled down from his eyes. A train bell sounded and he galloped out. Seeing it was some villagers from the other village, he examined everyone coming and going very close. He saw the women who toke his baby mare and galloped after her. Shadow stopped in-front of her. The women exclaimed and stroked his nose. “Aren’t you the horse who owned that baby mare? I am sure you are worried sick about her. Come gallop behind the train and I will give you your baby mare. She can even walk now.” The women said bringing him to the back of the train. Shadow whinned when the women grabbed his harness, but then followed and stopped behind the train, he looked back at the meadow where Jewel was, he whinned and nickered softly to him-self, hoping Jewel will be safe until he comes back with the baby mare. He galloped after the train when it toke off.
A few miles galloping later…….
Shadow stopped, tired, sweating and panting. He waited until the women came out of the train. When the women came out, Shadow followed behind, until the women opened a door and went inside, minutes later, she come out with the baby mare. She gave the baby mare a sugar cube before Shadow toke the end of the harness on the baby mare and galloped away. The baby mare neighed a bit softly and followed after Shadow. Shadow smiled. “He finally found the baby mare he has been looking for! Now, our family was complete.” He thought to him-self. Every 5 minutes, he kept looking back at the baby mare. He was still protective over his family. He thought he should be forever. The baby mare nickered and stopped, Shadow was taken back and looked back, he pulled the harness a bit, but the baby mare did not budge, he asked, “What is it?” He knew she could not speak yet, but it was worth a try. The baby mare just stamped her hoofs and neighed. Shadow sighed and nudged her forward. The baby mare sighed and had no choice but to follow forward. She galloped forward until we reached the other village, Shadow stopped in a distance from the village and smiled, he nudged the baby mare once more and galloped to the village once again.
In the meadow with Jewel……
Shadow smiled when he saw Jewel still with the other female horses, he nickered and Jewel looked back, she nickered happily and galloped to Shadow and the baby mare. She nuzzled the baby mare and then Shadow. “Thank you Shadow.” She said and groomed her baby mare. “So what was it you wanted to call her?” Shadow asked curious. Jewel looked at Shadow’s eyes. But then Shadow and Jewel got pulled back by a group of men. They nickered, neighed and kicked and bucked, But the group of men and women was too strong, they toke Shadow and Jewel to a butcher. They slaughtered Jewel and Shadow for a sacrifice ceremony. The baby mare was “No named”. The baby mare grew up, strong, brave. She started a herd of her own in the wild. Where she knew her herd was safe. Though, she never knew her name, she knew her mom and was forever in her heart…..
