North's Workshop, 2017
5 years after Pitch's defeat
350 years after Silver's rebirth.
The normal hustle and bustle of North's shop, the activity that Jack had finally gotten used to, had died to a shuffle. Jack glanced around as he floated through, mildly surprised. Finally he spotted North.
"Jack!" The Russian called, wrapping the winter spirit in a crushing hug. "Welcome!"
"North...need...breathe..." Jack wheezed out. He grinned ruefully as his friend released him. "Good to see you too. Why'd you call?"
"Manny has message for us." North replied. Jack nodded, following the giant man to the Globe Room. Tooth was, as ever, fluttering around frantically, surrounded by a small cloud of fairies. One small shape seperated from the group and rushed to Jack. He laughed and gently hugged Baby Tooth. Tooth waved absently as she spouted off another adress. Sandy floated over to pat Jack softly on the head. They grinned at each other for a moment before Sandy drifted away. Bunny merely grunted in acknowledgement. Teasingly, Jack grunted back.
"Look!" Tooth gasped. The crystal that Manny used to announce Guardians rose slowly. It seemed forever before an image appeared above it, and then...
"Silver Tempest? Bunny cried. His fur bristled in anger. Jack glanced from the pooka to the image that hovered above Manny’s crystal. The girl was about Jack's height with a similar build, but her hair was a dark grey streaked with a paler shade as well as blue. Her eyes held a friendly twinkle despite the fact that she was holding her twin staffs in a battle-ready position.
"Who is she?" Jack asked.
"Silver Tempest."Tooth sighed.
"Troublemaker." Bunny added. "Over energetic no-good mischief maker-"
North interrupted with, "Guardian."
Line break
"Hey! East! Take this over to Cali!" The East Wind howled in response to the girl's voice, diving to meet her. He twisted around her slim form affectionately before scooping the storm from her hands.
"Thanks, buddy." Silver laughed. She reached out to stroke the back of a current that was butting her knees. "Don't worry, South. I have something for you too."
Cupping her hands, Silver blew gently into the space they created. A swirling mass of dark clouds took shape. South Wind plucked them out of Silver's hands.
"Take them to Brazil!" The girl shouted. She shook her head slowly, a small smile gracing her face. the gentle breeze that swept past quickly removed the expression.
"What was that, West?"
Another soft whisper could be heard.
"Wind-stealer. The Guardians, you said? Of course you said that. Sorry, West, I wasn;t saying you were lying." Silver reached out to brush the wind, almost as if she were petting a dog. "Well, I suppose I should at least give them a greeting."
Line break
The sleigh was making good time until the wind started. It tossed North's preffered travel method like a matchbox, almost as if playing. Even Jack, who rode on the winds constantly, wasn't spared.
"Now, West. We don't want to throw all those nice people out of the air, do we?" The voice, smooth yet slightly accented, came from above them. Slowly North was able to gain control. Moments later they were gliding along smoothly.
"Who are you?" Jack blurted the question before he thought.
"Who am I?" The voice--belonging to a girl, they saw now--laughed aloud. She drifted down to perch on the very edge of the sleigh. The others could feel the wind--what had she called it? West?--that curled protectively around her form. The girl held her arms out and laughed again. "Silver Tempest, bringer of storms and mistress of the winds, at your service. Morning, Compass. Sorry about the whole wind thing. Totally not my idea."
North nodded stiffly.
"And you--you're Jack Frost, aren't you?" Silver pointed one staff at Jack.
"Uh...yeah."
"Should've known. Northie's gone on about you for so long. I don't blame you for picking her. South is such a hothead sometimes. Have you made friends with East yet?"
Jack blinked, a blank look coming over his face. "Huh?"
"The winds, silly." Silver sighed. "North Wind made friends with you. She really likes you. West Wind, silly girl, hardly leaves my side. South Wind can't take you because you're winter and he, basically, is a warm front. East, apparently, hasn't met you. Either that or he doesn't like you. He hasn't quite told me yet."
"Oh."
"But something tells me that you aren't here to chat about the winds. Not if the Guardians came along." Silver lowered herself into a crouch. "So. What brings you to my land?"
"Manny has made you Guardian." North said.
